Lin Bei raised his tail.

Generally speaking, when animals attack, their mouths are the main force, and other actions are auxiliary. For example, large beasts like lions, tigers, and leopards use their teeth as their most powerful weapon. Snakes, when they first attack, often use their mouths to bite, and only after they have bitten do they use their strongest constriction to wrap around and strangle their prey.

As a human, Lin Bei certainly wouldn’t use his mouth to bite. Normal people wouldn’t have the habit of biting others. For humans, limbs are the most important weapons. Of course, if it comes to close combat, the mouth can also be important, and if you can’t win, you might use your mouth to bite.

So when facing an enemy, Lin Bei’s first move was to use his tail.

Generally, snakes don’t use their tails much. The most important role of their tails is to maintain balance during battles. Lin Bei weighed his options and decided that using his tail was more acceptable than using his mouth.

Lin Bei’s current body was extremely long, over twelve meters. After raising his tail, the length of the tail whip exceeded three meters. The front half of his body was tightly wrapped around a large tree, and because he used a lot of force, there was no issue with balance. Snakes can exert force from all parts of their body, so Lin Bei was confident that the power of his tail whip would be significant.

This cobra was the first of its kind to have the courage to confront Lin Bei, but Lin Bei wouldn’t show any mercy. He didn’t consider himself a real snake, so when he saw the cobra’s neck turn slightly red with movement, Lin Bei didn’t hesitate and lashed out with his tail whip.

What is the feeling of a mountain collapsing? Lin Bei felt this now. Afraid of missing the cobra, Lin Bei used his full strength. The tail moved like lightning, lashing out in an instant. In Lin Bei’s vision, the cobra barely had time to move, and the movement was very small. Then it was struck by Lin Bei’s tail and, like swatting a fly, the cobra was slammed against a branch.

Crack!!

The branch couldn’t withstand such immense force and broke under Lin Bei’s strike. The poor cobra was smashed to pieces and fell to the ground with the broken branch. Lin Bei emerged victorious.

The entire battle, from start to finish, took less than 0.1 seconds. Although Lin Bei had anticipated this kind of violent suppression, the ease of victory still left him momentarily stunned.

The tail striking the branch caused some pain, but this pain was nothing to Lin Bei. He carefully examined his tail and found that not even a single scale was out of place; it was still as solid as ever. Lin Bei was once again amazed by his current body.

This was a body so powerful that as long as Lin Bei used it well, no beast in the forest could pose any threat to him.

This battle was a trivial matter for the entire forest. Every day, countless animals die, so no animal paid attention to the battlefield. Lin Bei quickly composed himself and climbed back up the tree.

No one dared to block Lin Bei’s path anymore. He smoothly climbed to the top of the tree and, through the dense foliage, looked toward the distant river.

The forest never lacked water, but sources of water were not common. Most water seeped into the ground. If a river could form, the area around it would be the most fiercely contested battlefield. This small river was no exception.

The river was not very wide, only about one to two meters, slowly flowing through various crevices. The river was filled with the massive roots of various trees, which raised the water level. On both sides of the river, there were no flowers, only sparse wild grass and small trees, with severe signs of trampling. Lin Bei could see some bones, the remains of dead animals. These bones indicated that the river was not as peaceful as it appeared.

A splash of water rose from the river, and Lin Bei stared straight ahead. "There are fish in there?"

Lin Bei was delighted. Eating fish was different from eating furry animals. He had eaten raw fish before, so if there were fish, he wouldn’t be too averse to eating raw fish. However, it was clear that there weren’t many fish in the river. Lin Bei wondered if there might be crabs or small shrimp, which would be more resilient as they could hide in holes.

Thinking about these delicious foods, Lin Bei felt his mouth watering. He decided to observe for a bit more. If nothing significant happened, he would claim this place.

For the moment, everything was calm, and there were many animals, but no fierce beasts. Lin Bei didn’t want to wait any longer.

Just as he was about to climb down the tree, Lin Bei paused and stretched his neck.

Heavy footsteps came from a distance. Because they were so far away, even Lin Bei couldn’t determine the exact source, but such heavy footsteps could only be made by large beasts. So Lin Bei decided to wait a bit longer.

After listening carefully for a while, Lin Bei finally identified the source of the sound. It was coming from the other side of the river, about five to six kilometers away. Besides the heavy footsteps, Lin Bei could faintly hear some lighter footsteps.

"Are these humans?"

After thinking for a moment, Lin Bei quickly slid down the tree, crushing through the underbrush, and then waded across the river, swimming toward the source of the sound.

As he got closer, the sounds became clearer. There was indeed a large creature, and there were also humans, about seven of them, running very quickly, as if being chased by something. However, it wasn’t the large creature, as its footsteps were in sync with the humans.

The distance of five to six kilometers was nothing to Lin Bei, and he quickly caught up. Hearing the voices of the humans heading in this direction, Lin Bei climbed another tree and looked down.

There were eight people and a large bull. Lin Bei hadn’t noticed the last person because he was tied to the bull’s back. His legs were bleeding profusely, seemingly bitten off, and his legs were wrapped in rags and vines, but blood still seeped out, making him look very pitiful.

These people were dressed as ancient hunters, six men and one woman, all carrying bows and arrows. The woman, who was leading, was using a large knife to cut through the wild grass and underbrush, clearing the path.

The woman was about twenty-one or twenty-two years old, with a dark complexion and a tall stature, almost reaching 1.8 meters. Despite being a woman, her arms were muscular, and she looked very strong. Her face was fierce, and she clearly wasn’t the gentle type.

The men behind her occasionally glanced nervously behind them, all with minor injuries, likely from thorns, and they looked very disheveled.

In Lin Bei’s perception, he could clearly see that a pack of wild wolves was following these people. There were twenty-one wolves in total, divided into several small groups, forming a loose encirclement around the hunters. They didn’t show themselves, clearly employing some tactic.

Wolves are cunning and cruel, and one of the most cooperative animals in nature. Another animal, the dhole, generally doesn’t attack prey when it’s still full of energy. Instead, they use a surrounding tactic to scare and tire the prey before delivering the final blow. Three or four wolves are enough to make even a tiger retreat, and these twenty-one wolves clearly had the same idea.

Seeing these wolves and the state of the eight people and the bull, Lin Bei shook his head. Without a miracle, these eight people and the bull would likely end up as wolf food. What made Lin Bei chuckle was that these hunters should know the basics of hunting. In the forest, the smell of blood is the most dangerous, and it’s no wonder the wolves were relentlessly pursuing them, as the blood from the person on the bull’s back was highly attractive to the wolves.

"Xiao Lan, how far is the wooden shelter?" one of the hunters wiped the sweat from his face and asked anxiously.

"Three more kilometers," the woman at the front said in a tired voice, which Lin Bei could hear.

"Da Lang is not doing well."

Everyone fell silent, their faces filled with sorrow.

Xiao Lan suddenly stopped, holding her hunting knife in front of her chest, looking ahead with suspicion. Lin Bei noticed that she seemed to have detected him, a very sharp ability.
