"An abyss-level dungeon?" Hongyue was taken aback. "Are you sure?"
"Oh, let me go up and try it out first." Li Huailin smiled, thinking to himself that he wasn't afraid of dying. The harder the abyss-level dungeon, the better, as it would make it easier for him to sacrifice himself in the future. The dungeon wasn't far from the main city's respawn point; it would take him about 10 to 15 minutes to run there. Dying quickly wouldn't be bad at all.
"Great, Brother-in-law is going to take us through the abyss!" Hongyan Heshui, who had no idea how difficult the abyss was, shouted excitedly. The guild couldn't even clear the basic normal level, let alone hell or abyss.
"Abyss?"
Hongyan Heshui's shout was so loud that several teams waiting to enter dungeons nearby heard her and looked over.
"He just said he's going to clear the abyss?" A warrior player pointed at Li Huailin and laughed. "Haha, no one has cleared hell yet, and you're thinking about the abyss?"
"You! I'll tell you, my brother-in-law..." Hongyan Heshui was about to argue but was stopped by the guild leader, Hongyue, who stepped in front of her.
"Shui'er, don't cause trouble," Hongyue said seriously.
"The guild leader..." Hongyan Heshui wanted to say more but, seeing Hongyue's face, pouted and walked over to Li Huailin. "Brother-in-law, brother-in-law, someone is bullying me. Can you really clear the abyss? You have to do it, I want to make them angry!"
"How would I know? I haven't even seen it yet." Li Huailin shrugged. "Why don't we go in and check it out first?"
"Are you really confident?" Hongchen Yanwu asked.
"You saw how I didn't lose any HP in the normal level. I think the abyss level, no matter how hard, has its limits. I'd say I have about a 50% chance," Li Huailin said after some thought.
"Okay, 50% is not bad," Hongyue nodded. "But we have six people, and only five can enter the dungeon. What about me..."
"I won't go," Hongse Xueyin said, patting Hongyue's shoulder. "You, as the guild leader, must be there. I won't go this time; I'll head back to the main city."
"Hmm..." Hongyue thought for a moment and agreed. She nodded at Hongse Xueyin, an old friend who didn't need much explanation.
"Are you going back to the main city?" Li Huailin asked when he heard Hongse Xueyin was leaving. "Can you do me a favor and list these dozen potions on the auction house? Sell them for whatever you can get."
Li Huailin handed over all the Life Spring potions.
"Do you need them for the dungeon?" Hongse Xueyin asked.
"I don't need the extra HP, and if I die, it won't help anyway," Li Huailin said. "Thanks for the trouble."
"This new guy is really arrogant, giving orders to the vice-leader right after joining the guild," Hongse Xueyin laughed. "You guys go in, I'll head back. Oh, give me those blueprints first, I'll store them in the bank so you don't lose them in the dungeon."
"Okay," Hongchen Yanwu nodded and handed over the blueprints.
Hongse Xueyin left the party, and Hongyue immediately added Li Huailin.
"Let's go," Hongyue said.
"Wow!!" Before Hongyue could adjust the dungeon difficulty, Hongyan Heshui suddenly shouted, startling Hongyue.
"Shui'er?" Hongyue turned around, puzzled by Hongyan Heshui's outburst.
"Sister Yue, Sister Yue, look at Brother-in-law's level!" Hongyan Heshui jumped up and down.
Hongyue hadn't noticed before, but now she checked the party information: Li Huailin, level 15.
Hongyue was stunned. It really was level 15.
"How did you level up so fast?" Hongyue remembered Li Huailin was level 12 in the morning. How did he level up three times in such a short time?
"Hmm?" Li Huailin was also surprised, remembering the wasted potions.
Just as he was thinking how to explain, Hongchen Yanwu said, "What else could it be? He said he completed a hidden quest and got those blueprints. Hidden quests must give a lot of experience."
"Right, our Yanwu is so smart," Li Huailin couldn't help but praise her. She had explained it well.
"You!" Hongchen Yanwu was about to get angry when she heard "our," but she realized he was probably waiting for her reaction. She decided to ignore him.
"Hidden quests give so much experience, they must be hard to complete," Hongyue said, a bit enviously, as she hadn't done any hidden quests.
"I seem to have a high chance of triggering hidden quests. This is my third one. If there are more in the future, I'll call you to do them together," Li Huailin said kindly.
"Three already?" Both Hongchen Yanwu and Hongyue were surprised. "You've taken on three hidden quests?"
"Yes, I took two in the newbie village, and this is the third one," Li Huailin said after some thought.
"You've completed them all?" Hongyue asked, amazed. "No wonder your character stats are so strong."
"Uh, yeah, that's right," Li Huailin scratched his head, unintentionally explaining his character's strength.
"How does this pervert have such good luck?" Hongchen Yanwu muttered.
"You don't understand..." Li Huailin smiled. "Some people beg NPCs for hidden quests, but the NPCs won't give them. I have NPCs kneeling and crying to give me hidden quests. That's the difference..."
"Show off," Hongchen Yanwu muttered.
"Okay, stop it, you two," Hongyue said, rubbing her forehead. "Hidden quests are a matter of luck. We'll talk about it later. Let's go into the dungeon. I still need to buy groceries and cook dinner."
Hongyue set the dungeon difficulty to abyss, and the team quickly entered.
"This is the abyss dungeon? Why don't I feel any difference?" Hongyan Heshui looked around. From the outside, the abyss dungeon looked the same as the normal one. The only difference was that the first group of monsters, which were three level 15 snakes, were now level 20.
"Everyone, stay here and don't move. I'll test the monsters. Don't get too close, or we'll all enter combat," Li Huailin said.
"What if you die?" Hongyue asked.
"Everyone will leave the dungeon," Li Huailin replied.
"Okay," Hongyue nodded, knowing that they were only in the abyss because of Li Huailin. If he couldn't handle it and died, they wouldn't stand a chance either.
Li Huailin charged at the first group of three snakes, two green and one red. He remembered their attack power from the morning.
-30, -19, -17. +25, +25, +25.
This time, Li Huailin didn't attack first but let the monsters hit him a few times. The first round of attacks confirmed that the monsters' attack power had increased. Even though Li Huailin had leveled up and his stats were stronger, the damage was nearly double that of the normal dungeon.
-29, -25 (critical hit), -13. +50, +50, +50.
"Hmm?" On the second round of attacks, Li Huailin suddenly paused, then realized something. He checked his buff list.
Level 1 Poison: Gain 25 HP every 5 seconds, lasts 30 seconds, can stack up to 5 layers.
The poison damage hadn't changed, but the number of layers it could stack had increased from 3 to 5.
"I seem to have a bad idea," Li Huailin thought, then dragged the snakes back.
"What's wrong? Can't handle them?" Hongyue shouted as Li Huailin ran back.
"No, I just had a brilliant idea. Everyone, get out of the dungeon quickly!" Li Huailin shouted as he ran.
