Chapter 9

As they were talking, the people from the Spirit World had already taken care of three zombies and were now walking towards Li Huailin. Li Huailin took a quick look and saw that there were nine men and one woman. Apart from Spirit World Night Navigation, who was chatting with him, the other nine had all participated in the melee. It seemed that Night Navigation had specially selected a few people from the second team who would later switch to melee classes for this mission. After all, in the Newbie Village, there were no class distinctions, and the more melee attributes you had, the stronger you would be. Magic classes in the Newbie Village were a tragedy, leveling up slowly and dying quickly, but after switching classes, their leveling speed...

"This is the player who sold us this hidden quest, Li Huailin." Spirit World Night Navigation introduced him to the others, giving a brief introduction. Li Huailin remembered most of their names, paying particular attention to the only female player, Spirit World Leling.

"Are you the guy who beat up the mayor?" Leling was a bit curious about Li Huailin. After all, not everyone could beat up the mayor. Leling hadn't seen it happen two days ago, but everyone in the group who had seen it said it was awesome. So Leling became interested in this "awesome guy" and decided to chat with him.

"Yeah, doesn't it look like it?" Li Huailin looked at himself; he was still wearing the full set of newbie cloth armor. Since he hadn't killed any monsters or done any quests, he naturally didn't have any new equipment. The newbie cloth armor had a hidden attribute that prevented it from dropping when he died, so Li Huailin wasn't naked.

"Uh... Can you tell me how you did it?" Leling asked curiously.

"Hmm... If I have to say, it's all about being dominant..." Li Huailin tilted his head back, "A man as dominant as me always has admirers wherever he goes."

"Then..." Leling wanted to say more, but Night Navigation pulled her back.

Night Navigation thought that Li Huailin must have some special ability to beat up NPCs, but such abilities couldn't be casually shared. Persistent questioning might just make this player an enemy.

"Right, Huailin, you don't have anything to do, so why don't you join us on the hidden quest? Even though you can't receive the quest, we can share a piece of equipment with you if we defeat the boss." Night Navigation was also very curious about Li Huailin and thought that by inviting him along, he could learn more. He was sure that a piece of boss equipment would be very attractive to a solo player. Of course, he didn't say that Li Huailin could choose first or get the best piece; just a random bronze piece would do after the boss was defeated.

"Oh?" Li Huailin thought about it. After all, he was playing the game, and he would definitely reach level 10 today. It might be more interesting to go along. Constantly dying was too boring. Getting a piece of equipment would be a good change.

And he had also thought about it. Since he hadn't received the hidden quest, he wouldn't lose experience for not completing it. The experience from killing the boss would go to one of the two teams, and he wouldn't get any. He would just get a piece of equipment, with no loss. Even if he died, he would still get 10% of the experience, which wasn't bad.

"Sure." After considering, Li Huailin agreed readily.

"Right, you're here to level up, right? We're also clearing the small monsters. How about this: I'll leave the group, and you join them to fight the small monsters. That way, you'll get experience. We're all level 10, and we don't get experience from killing monsters without switching classes." Night Navigation was considerate.

"Damn, no need, no need..." Li Huailin was terrified. If he joined the group, he would have to die dozens of times to make up for the lost experience, and he might even be reset to level 1. "I have principles. I don't like taking favors. Helping you kill the boss and getting a piece of equipment is one thing, but helping you level up is another. I don't want to owe anyone anything."

Li Huailin came up with a reason that was more acceptable.

"Oh..." Night Navigation felt a bit strange but accepted the reason. "Alright, let's go."

The eleven of them continued to clear the monsters and move forward. They encountered a few scattered zombies, but they were all dealt with smoothly. To avoid suspicion, Li Huailin also joined in, swinging his sword a few times. Although he was only level 7, three levels lower than the others, and had a newbie broken sword, he had maxed out his stats, so his attack power was almost the same as the level 10 players. Night Navigation found this a bit strange but didn't say anything. Of course, one person's output couldn't match five people's, and the experience from the zombies went to the Spirit World team, not Li Huailin.

After clearing the tunnel for about 15 minutes, Li Huailin suddenly noticed a person lying under a nearby oil lamp. The man was in his forties, muscular, wearing light armor, and sitting against the wall with one hand on his stomach and the other holding a sword.

The green name "Knightal Mura" above his head indicated that he was an NPC and an ally.

"Quest." The word immediately came to everyone's mind.

Night Navigation walked over without hesitation, but Knightal Mura stopped him first.

"Are you here to investigate the source of the dark creatures in the Newbie Village?" Knightal Mura asked, looking at Night Navigation.

"Yes." Night Navigation replied.

"I'm sure you already know that the dark creatures in the Newbie Village are the result of a dark ritual performed by a dark sorcerer named Yaze to open the gates of the Demon World, and the overflow of dark energy has polluted the creatures in the Newbie Village." Knightal Mura explained.

"Yes, we already know that." The previous step of the hidden quest had already told Night Navigation the background of the quest. "We received the quest to eliminate this dark sorcerer."

"You? Hahaha... cough, cough, cough..." Knightal Mura was about to laugh but seemed to have pulled a wound, coughing up blood. He wiped the blood from his mouth and said seriously, "This dark sorcerer is a level 30 boss. You newbies, without switching classes, will just be sending yourselves to your deaths."

"What, level 30!" "And a boss!" The Spirit World guild had seen many challenges, but encountering a level 30 boss at level 10 was too much for them to handle.

"Quiet, the system wouldn't give us an impossible quest. Besides, this is just an A-level quest, not an S-level one." Night Navigation, as the vice president of the Spirit World guild, quickly regained his composure after a moment of surprise.

"What do we do, Vice President?" Spirit World Firehead asked.

"The key must be this NPC. Otherwise, why would the system put an NPC here? It could just have us go straight to the boss." Night Navigation analyzed.

"This NPC seems to be of a high level too. Look at his equipment." Another member pointed out.

"Can you help us kill the dark sorcerer?" Night Navigation asked, trying a different approach.

"Killing the dark creatures is my duty." Knightal Mura responded, "But..."

Night Navigation was initially pleased but then realized there was a "but." He asked urgently, "But what?"

"Look at me, I'm already injured. I'm not a match for the dark sorcerer now." Knightal Mura lifted his hand from his stomach, revealing a wound surrounded by black blood. "If you can help me heal, I can help you kill the dark sorcerer."

"How can we heal you?" Night Navigation asked.

"I was injured by Yaze's dark magic, so I need light-attribute herbs. I remember there are a lot of Light Jade Grass on the hill south of the Newbie Village. Collect 100 of them and give them to the alchemist Koven in the Newbie Village. He will tell you what to do." Knightal Mura explained.

System notification: Knightal Mura has issued a C-level quest, "Make a Light Potion." Do you accept?

"Damn." This quest wasn't part of the hidden quest. Even Li Huailin, who had been standing behind without speaking, received the quest. Fortunately, he wasn't in the group and immediately declined.

"Damn, Light Jade Grass, I know the place, it's so far, it takes an hour to get there." Spirit World Firehead said.

"What if the alchemist in the Newbie Village refuses to help us and gives us another quest?" Spirit World Gray Machine, who knew the system well, asked.

"Vice President, we were already out of the Newbie Village. Now we've been delayed for two days for this quest. Should we delay further... What if we can't beat the boss and get stuck for a few more days..." Spirit World War Soul whispered.

Spirit World Night Navigation hesitated. After all, it was still the early days of the game, and delaying the main players of the second team would affect the entire guild...

"Let me try." Li Huailin, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up. He didn't have time to waste on this quest, especially running around.

"What do you have in mind?" Night Navigation asked.

"Watch me." Li Huailin suddenly smiled mysteriously.

For some reason, Night Navigation felt a bad vibe from this smile.

Sure enough, Li Huailin immediately rushed to Knightal Mura, grabbed his collar, and shouted, "Are you tired of living? Asking us to run errands? Don't pretend to be dead!" He then slapped Knightal Mura across the face.

"Damn!" All the Spirit World members shouted in unison.
