The skill bar disappeared in a flash, and a flickering light point appeared in the center of the screen, followed by a sequence of Chinese characters: "Mekong River Casting: Detected the wish of lucky audience member No. 9527 from 'Operation Mekong'—'Police dog Xiaotian is so cool, I really want a photo of him.'"

**Mission Objective:** Take a photo of police dog Xiaotian in 'Operation Mekong.'

**Base Reward:** (Unknown).

**Mission Difficulty:** Heaven.

**Failure Punishment:** None.

**Accept? (Y/N)**

"Operation Mekong?" Lin Yue raised an eyebrow. He had watched this movie just two days ago and could still recall the plot.

*Operation Mekong* is a film based on real events, telling the story of Chinese anti-drug police who, to uncover the conspiracy behind the deaths of Chinese merchant ship crew members, travel to the Golden Triangle region to expose the masterminds behind the drug trafficking and secretly pursue the drug lord Noka.

"Dog system, get out here! The first mission you assign is in a movie world with such a high danger coefficient. Is this Heaven difficulty? This is a hellish start."

Mao'er did not react, and the panel showed no change.

Lin Yue thought for a while and ultimately decided to accept the mission. Since there was no punishment for failure, it was worth a try, and who knows, he might succeed.

Lin Yue parked the shared bike, looked around, and walked to a nearby corner where no one was around, then summoned the system interface.

"Alright, I choose to accept."

...

Whoosh!

White light flashed, and Lin Yue's first sensation was dizziness, like he had been on a cable car for over half an hour. His ears were muffled, and everything he saw had double vision.

He patted his head and leaned against a tree by the roadside to rest. The discomfort of his first穿越 (穿越 means "crossing over" or "traveling to another world") gradually subsided, and then he smelled a faint alcohol scent.

"Is this? Coming from my breath?"

Lin Yue looked up at the sky. The moon was smiling, the stars were blinking, and the evening breeze carried a chill as it wandered through the treetops.

He looked at his thick hand, touched his rough chin, and searched his pockets, pulling out a leather wallet. Inside were less than 3000 Thai baht and an ID card written in Thai, with a photo that looked very much like him—regular features, sharp angles, and a hint of heroism in his brows, though his skin was a bit darker from prolonged sun exposure.

"He Huajian."

As he read this name, scattered memories flooded his mind like a flood.

It took about five or six minutes for him to regain his composure, breathing heavily.

He Huajian, 23 years old, a Chinese-Thai, had only an older sister who had just gotten married after his mother passed away from illness last year. To earn more money to buy a house in Bangkok, he joined the Golden Triangle Development Zone Security Team.

For Lin Yue, He Huajian's family background was not the key; the key was his identity as a security team member and his current location.

"The Golden Triangle Development Zone, hmm, the place where the plot begins."

After reviewing He Huajian's memories, he learned that Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and China had established a joint command center in the Golden Triangle Development Zone to crack down on drug trafficking organizations, dismantling multiple drug production and trafficking dens and capturing a large number of criminals. However, there had been no significant activity on the Oler Peninsula yet.

It seemed that the operation to rescue the drug lord's subordinate was still in the planning stage.

According to the movie's plot, to find the hiding place of the drug lord Noka, the anti-drug police decided to rescue Noka's subordinate in the criminal area to obtain clues. Police dog Xiaotian performed impressively in this operation, but it ultimately failed.

As a security team member, Lin Yue had little chance of reaching the location of the operation team to take a photo of police dog Xiaotian. He needed to quickly achieve the mission objective, and the only option was to go to the criminal area and wait.

"At least it's just taking a photo, not too difficult."

Lin Yue rubbed his still throbbing temples, identified the direction, and walked toward the security team's dormitory.

...

The next day, he got up before dawn, wrote a leave note for his colleague to pass to the captain, then changed into civilian clothes and left the dormitory.

Apart from the criminal area controlled by drug traffickers, the security in the bustling areas of the Golden Triangle Development Zone was still good.

Lin Yue ordered three fried dough sticks and a bowl of chicken congee at a breakfast shop near the bus station. He sat at an outdoor table, eating while observing the passersby. Across from him was a teenager in a blue and white school uniform, looking at him with a strange gaze.

Thais prefer sweet flavors and usually eat fried dough sticks with condensed milk, but he didn't touch the condensed milk in the small dish throughout his meal.

Lin Yue glanced at the teenager and pushed the small dish of condensed milk over. The teenager smiled and thanked him.

After finishing the chicken congee, he sat there for a while, estimating that it was almost time for the bus to leave. He left the breakfast shop and boarded the bus heading to the Oler Peninsula.

As a region with rampant criminal activities in the Golden Triangle Development Zone, the living standards on the Oler Peninsula were very poor. There were peeling buildings, dilapidated mud houses, and makeshift wooden shacks, even worse than the urban villages in second- and third-tier cities in China.

By around 11 a.m., Lin Yue got off a tuk-tuk and walked to the building outside which the operation team planned to infiltrate the criminal area.

This area was considered the entertainment center of the region, filled with various illegal transactions involving prostitution, gambling, and drugs, and it was also a secret base for a drug lord in the Golden Triangle.

Outside the building, the square was lined with fruit and vegetable stalls, with colorful umbrellas blocking the scorching sun, casting shadows on the ground. The air was filled with the aroma of fried skewers and the distinctive smell of durians.

Lin Yue, pretending to be a tourist, bought two pineapples from a fruit stall and carried them to a nearby café, ordering a Thai matcha. He sat near the entrance and slowly sipped his drink.

As it approached noon, he noticed a blue-green sedan stopping by the roadside.

It appeared!

If he remembered correctly, that should be the car driven by female anti-drug police officer Guo Bing and police dog Xiaotian.

It seemed the system's rating of the mission difficulty was relatively fair. All he needed to do was wait for police dog Xiaotian to rush out of the car and take a photo with his phone to complete the mission.

He walked to the café entrance, pretending to look around casually, and caught sight of a blue minivan parked at an angle on the roadside, which should be carrying the Wild Buffalo team members.

"These guys... they're fast."

Lin Yue had been carefully monitoring the square, but from the current situation, the police had already entered the criminal area building.

Just as he was about to take out his phone and get ready to take the photo, a white sedan turned the corner in front of Guo Bing's hidden car, followed by a black Chevrolet SUV.

Lin Yue squinted slightly. They were the men of drug lord Noka.

It was because of their interference that the rescue operation failed at the last moment, and Guo Bing and her teammates were injured in the battle.

Looking at the phone in his palm and then at the entrance of the criminal area building, Lin Yue gritted his teeth, picked up the plastic bag with the pineapples, and walked toward the blue-green sedan where female police officer Guo Bing and police dog Xiaotian were seated.
