The driver smiled and nodded, then stopped the car after about ten minutes. "We're here!"

Yang Luo pushed the door open and got out, shouting, "Hey! You little guy, pay up."

Yang Luo waved his hand and said, "You're the boss, if you don't pay, who will? Besides, we're on a case, so it's not your own money. Why are you shouting?"

Jiang Cheng's face turned sour, "I damn well didn't bring any money."

Yang Luo's steps suddenly paused, and then he took off running. He didn't have any money either. The last time he and Wang Tong went out to eat, he only had a few dozen yuan, which he gave to Wang Tong, and she never returned it. These past few days, he had been staying at the Su family's place, where all his meals were taken care of.

Jiang Cheng roared, "You little brat, stand still!" But in the blink of an eye, Yang Luo had disappeared into the school gate.

"Damn! This bastard, wait until I get back to deal with you." After saying this, his expression became very ambiguous, and he spoke very gently to the driver, "Comrade! I am the captain of the Criminal Investigation Team, Jiang Cheng. Can you give me an IOU? You can find me at the team tomorrow?"

The driver smiled, "Forget it! It's not a long distance, consider it my good deed for the day."

Jiang Cheng laughed heartily and patted the driver's shoulder hard, "Brother, you're a friend I'll definitely keep. As long as it's not illegal, you can come to me if you need anything." After saying this, he jumped out of the car and chased after Yang Luo, determined to give this kid a good lesson, as he was really infuriated.

The driver watched Jiang Cheng's retreating figure and smiled, "Find me! By then, you won't even recognize a small fry like me." Then he stepped on the gas, and the car slowly started and drove away.

Yang Luo had been leaning against the wall inside the school gate. Seeing Jiang Cheng successfully 'escape,' he chuckled and walked out. As soon as Jiang Cheng saw Yang Luo, he clenched his right fist and aimed for Yang Luo's chest. Yang Luo chuckled, and his left hand quickly shot out, grabbing Jiang Cheng's wrist with a "snap." Then he took a step forward, supported Jiang Cheng under the armpit, and lifted him up, throwing him out.

"Thud!"

"Ouch!"

Jiang Cheng's face contorted in pain as he fell, and he struggled to get up, feeling as if his whole body was falling apart. "Why can't you respect your elders? I'm already this old." However, he was genuinely shocked. His skills were among the best in the Shanghai police force, and no one could easily throw him around like that.

Yang Luo sneered, "Are you really that old?"

Jiang Cheng said with righteous indignation, "I'm 42, isn't that older than you?"

Yang Luo rolled his eyes, "I just realized, it turns out that you, Old Jiang, are even more of a rascal than me."

Jiang Cheng waved his hand, "Forget it, talking to someone with no sense of public morals is pointless. Let's go." He then limped toward the school's administrative building.

Yang Luo followed, muttering, "I wonder if Director Han's recommendation will work."

Jiang Cheng said irritably, "Director Han is the principal here." Yang Luo didn't react much; in China, it was common for officials to hold multiple leadership positions.

The vice-principal of the police academy, Wu Zhenghai, was looking for documents in his office when he heard a knock and chuckled, "Come in." When he saw Jiang Cheng, he said, "I knew it would be you." Then he pointed to the sofa, "Sit down! I've selected ten outstanding students for you, seven boys and three girls."

Yang Luo said, "It should be seven girls and three boys."

Wu Zhenghai was taken aback, "Why?"
