Landing close to the castle, the three of them walked together. Walking for about three minutes, they arrived at the royal castle’s main gate.

「I have returned.」

When Sera informed the guard, he returned a surprised expression.

「!? Princess!? It is great that you are in good health. May I ask where the soldiers are?」

「They are on standby in a different location, may we pass?」

「That is fine, but… who are they?」

「…‘they’?」

「! Excuse my rudeness! These guests are?」

「They are my benefactors, can we pass?」

「Yes! Please enter!」

Moving to the side, the guard opened the pathway.

The three of them calmly passed by.

Walking down a long corridor, Lapis began to speak.

「Sera, that was quite suitable. When we get home, I’ll give you a reward.」

「Ane-sama, we are still not done yet, please restrain yourself. For my reward, I’d like udon with miso, please.」

「Sera-chan, you aren’t restraining yourself?」

Far from bracing themselves, their spirit was loosening, while continuing forward. While on their way, they passed by an enumerable amount of servants, but they only gave a small bow to Sera, not noticing Lapis’s true form.

「I’m not being noticed? Even though I only put on a pair of glasses」

「That’s true, I was thinking about changing your hair color with magic, but it seems that it was unneeded.」

There was a reason that Lapis was not discovered.

It was that the servants didn’t have much chance to see her face.

Whenever the problem child, Lapis, called out, it was always Horun who came to her assistance. Other servants would only catch a glimpse of Lapis when she was secretly cooking in the kitchen without manners, and especially at ceremonial rites, where she’d stand until the end. Those who remembered Lapis’s face were few, it wasn’t an impossible story.

Moreover, Lapis was disguised. They would never dream that the first princess would wear a maid uniform.

「Well, as long as we aren’t found, it’s fine. Let’s quickly go.」

With Sera taking the lead, Lily, then Lapis followed, continuing until they arrived whilst they were in an audience.

Without knocking, Sera violently opened the door, then swiftly walked to the center, where another group stood dumfounded.

Lily and Lapis then followed.

To the sides of the long rug, stern-faced guards stood at attention.

Sitting in the throne was an average sized man, having an audience with a round noble.

While they were stunned, the noble was a step ahead, turning to Lapis’s group, shouting with a visible anger.

「Whoever you are, you’re being rude! You’re in His Majesty’s presence! We’re in the middle of an audience right now!」

「It’s fine, she is my daughter.」

With a word from the king, the noble shut up. Realizing that he had yelled at the princess, the noble’s face had gone pale.

The king gazed at Sera. There was no indication that he had realized about Lapis, which irritated Lily.

「You have done well to return, Serafinite.」

「Yes, I have returned now.」

Instead of kneeling, Sera remained composed and replied. Of course, the two behind her didn’t kneel either.

Displeased with that, the king scrunched his nose, but prioritizing his daughter’s report, he ignored it.

「So, have you found Lapis Lazuli?」

「Yes, I have found her.」

「Is that so. In that is the case, the engagement will still continue, good.」

Seeing the king worry more over the country’s honor more than his daughter’s wellbeing, the temperature of Lily’s gaze dropped a few degrees.

Lapis frantically tried to stop her, who seemed on the verge of exploding.

「With that, today I have something important that I need to speak of.」

「…Shall I remove the others?」

「No.」

「Then, speak.」

In front of the self-important king, Sera majestically declared.

「On this day, I, Serafinite, and—」

Turning around, she made an eye gesture.

Accepting it, Lapis removed her glasses and took a step forward.

「! Lapis Lazuli—」

「I, Lapis Lazuli, am quitting being a princess. For taking care of us until now, thank you.」

They lightly lowered their heads.

Silence continued until around the count of ten, when the king shattered it.

「—…Do you understand what it is that you are saying?」

「Of course we understand.」

「Certainly, a foolish question.」

「You think that is fine?!!」

The king raised a furious voice.

「You people know nothing! Quitting being a princess? Like you can do that! The betrothal is already decided! Try to scrap it! My honor is in complete ruin! If you lived as I told you, there would be no problems!」

As the king’s breath became ragged, the sisters looked at him with cold eyes.

「Aren’t you misunderstanding your daughters as tools? No matter how you think about it, it’s laughable, so wouldn’t you be better off stopping?」

「It is as Ane-sama says. With that haughty attitude, if you don’t change, won’t you become estranged from your retainers? Like with us.」

「You… you…!」

In extreme anger, his words wouldn’t come out. However, reflected within his glare at the sisters was murderous intent.

「Then, we’ll be returning home now. I don’t think that we’ll meet a second time, but I’m not feeling any deep emotions.」

「Ah, for me as well, for taking care of us until now, thank you. I hated you nobility people.」

Lapis and Sera flatly turned heel.

As though the guards had remembered their duty, the entered to stop the girls.

However, that couldn’t come true.

As for why—

「—Lapis, Sera-chan. Can you go on ahead? I have some business with this man.」

Before their eyes was a beautiful, golden haired woman, but she was emitting an unusual amount of killing intent.

To Lily’s words, Lapis nodded.

「Okay, we’ll be waiting for you.」

Saying only that, Lapis pulled Sera’s hand as they exited the audience. The guards were foolish, even the king couldn’t stop them.

Their gazes were concentrated on Lily.

Without caring, Lily opened her mouth.

「—Now then, the foolishness has gone on too long. The price for angering me is high, you know.」
