Chapter 33

It's actually you!

Fang Yi's attention was entirely on the few people in front of him. The moment the black-robed figure appeared, Fang Yi recognized him—it was the thief Karl who had cruelly tricked him. "Finally found you! Today, we'll settle our scores, and I'll give you a couple of slashes for sure!"

Not long after, the figures in front of him swayed left and right in the grass and suddenly disappeared behind the weeds. Fang Yi, fearing a trap, waited a few more minutes. Seeing no movement, he cautiously approached the spot where they had vanished. A well-concealed cave entrance, hidden by the weeds, appeared before him.

The cave, constructed with old stone bricks, looked quite neat and seemed to have some history, unlike a secret base built by thieves. Determined to investigate, Fang Yi buffed himself and was about to step into the cave. Just as his boot was about to touch the ground, he suddenly stopped, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"What the heck is this?" Fang Yi held his breath, slowly withdrew his left foot, and then squatted down, staring intently at the ground. A nearly invisible silver thread was stretched across the cave entrance. Fang Yi had raised his left foot to avoid this trap trigger, but before entering the cave, he habitually used a detection spell to check the dark depths. The feedback was shocking: a Level 16 Elite Clay Golem!?

Fang Yi wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and retreated from the cave entrance at a snail's pace, finally taking a deep breath. "Damn, a Level 16 Elite Clay Golem. Even if I team up with Caisang and the Black Mountain Imp, we'd need to be at least Level 13 (except for crushing damage, the Clay Golem takes 50% less physical damage but 30% more fire and frost damage)." This must be a hard threshold set by the game, telling players that if they can't defeat this golem, they shouldn't even think about progressing further.

However, there are a few special items in the game that can bypass this guardian, but their drop rates are so low that there's little chance of getting them. Fang Yi frowned, thinking, "Why don't I have the protagonist's aura? Why can't I get a secondary invisibility scroll or something from a minor monster?"

Fang Yi walked on the road to Tashil, ending his random thoughts and gradually forming a question. With the Dark Night Mask's strength, which was enough to dominate the Dragon Coast, even the mayor of Tashil would have to show respect to the Underground King of the West Gate. Why had the Dark Night Mask become so low-profile in Tashil, clearly being cautious about something? After much thought, the only person in Tashil who could make the Dark Night Mask wary was the old man Somato.

"Your information is really reliable." However, now that he had the Sacred Heart and the Thief's Step quests but couldn't complete them, and his experience bar was just a little short of Level 10, he needed to gain experience quickly.

Unlike Farview Town, in a city of a certain scale, quests are divided into many types. Ordinary quests given by civilians in the streets and alleys, high-reputation players can take quests from the mayor's office, and especially quests issued by various temples, which often have clear faction biases and are the first choice for players who want to change factions.

To avoid the tragedy of faction conflicts when obtaining artifacts in the future, Fang Yi carefully controlled his character's faction to remain absolutely neutral, avoiding overly extreme or overly righteous actions. During the beta test, a team obtained a half-artifact from a priest but found their faction was wrong, and Fang Yi guessed the priest must have wanted to die.

On the second day of "Miracle" operations, the charm of the first MMORPG was evident. Every leveling spot around Tashil was crowded with players, who excitedly chatted and fought monsters, fully immersed in the adventurous life they couldn't experience in real life.

Fang Yi went to the Tashil Temple to recharge his wrist guard, then followed the new quest's prompt to the Troll Plains, 5 miles south of Tashil. Here, many Level 11 green trolls and scattered hyenas and bear goblins gathered. Due to the open terrain and numerous monsters, and its proximity to Tashil, the nearly 100-square-mile grassland was filled with leveling players.

Since the game started, Fang Yi's actions had almost always revolved around his quests, and he had rarely leveled up in the wild. Seeing the busy crowds around him and hearing the noisy but energetic voices of the players, Fang Yi quickly融入了练级大军中。

However, now thinking about these things is a bit premature. Checking the quests to hunt trolls and collect troll tusks, which were already completed, Fang Yi was about to head back when he heard a commotion not far behind him.

"What is that?" "It doesn't seem to be a monster!" "Let's go check it out!"

Fang Yi turned his head in the direction of the voices and immediately thought, "What the heck?" He quickly put the troll tusk in his backpack and, like an arrow released from a bow, dashed toward the source of the commotion, not forgetting to cast a disguise spell on himself. A huge black spot, about half a person's height, was floating in the air, with a bright red edge enveloped by rising magical flames, contrasting sharply with the black center. A group of players surrounded the light spot, throwing arrows and spells at it, but there was no reaction. The players, intimidated by its intimidating appearance, were hesitant to approach and were discussing it.

At that moment, a loud voice suddenly shouted, "Don't touch that thing! It's a randomly spawned magic flare, a Level 5 offensive spell!" As the shout echoed, several people suddenly rushed out of the crowd, bypassing the hesitant players and heading straight for the light spot.

"Huh?" Fang Yi looked at the druid with his back to him, who was quite close to the light spot, and swallowed the words he was about to say. "There are other brave souls, it seems we are of the same mind, but you can't run as fast as I can~"

Fang Yi ran at full speed, reaching his maximum speed in two seconds. The few people who had already reached the light spot noticed a figure darting toward it. In a hurry, one of them cast a web spell, but the casting was too simple and too low, and Fang Yi easily dodged it. Without looking back at the people he had left behind, he dashed through the magical flames and into the black light spot.

*Another update will come tonight. Tomorrow, the word count will reach 100,000, and Feidan is preparing to apply for an A-signature.

Even if it doesn't help much, brothers, please still throw your collections and clicks at the Mithril Throne. At least it can add some impression points, right? Thanks everyone^_^
