I entered the alleyway and pulled out a black cloth from my pocket.
As I poured magic power into the cloth, its volume swelled and it became a jet-black cloak.
It’s a technology called miniaturization. It is often incorporated into magic tools that are frequently carried around. However, since it costs a lot of money to embed this function, it has not yet become a widespread technology in the general society. This is borrowed from the Bureau.
In the process of developing weapons, the Special Mission Agency for True Soldiers made great progress in miniaturization technology. We, the soldiers of the agency, preferred to use miniaturized equipment. Miniaturization can turn any weapon into a dark weapon. This is especially useful for soldiers like me, who focus on assassinations and surprise attacks.
My partner, the BF28 Black Feather Two-Eight, is one of the weapons that has been miniaturized. It was now attached to my left wrist in the form of a black bracelet.
I covered myself with the cloak and moved quickly.
If possible, I wanted to get this done before Mize came out of the dorm.
I was at the back of a coffee shop that was not yet open. It will be crowded with students after school.
There I found a man dressed similarly to me lurking around.
I called him from behind.
“What are you doing here so early in the morning?”
“What the–?”
The man in the auburn cloak let out a cry of astonishment.
Once he saw me, he hurriedly took out a long, thin blade from his pocket.
He pulled out a weapon – confirmed.
He’s an enemy.
“–slow.”
I pointed my index finger at the man’s arm and released 《magic bullet》.
The bullet pierced his arm holding the blade.
I ducked into the pocket of the grunting man and slammed a spinning kick into his abdomen.
The man was slammed into the wall that was behind him, fell to the ground on his butt without screaming.
At the same time as I adjusted my breathing, the 『communication paper』 I had in my pocket vibrated.
Maintaining my vigilance, I picked up the communication.
“Chris?”
“Yeah. I’ll let you know what information I get. There’s a suspicious figure near the dormitory. I believe they’re patrolling the route to school.”
“You’re a little late. I just took him down.”
“You’re very good at your job.”
Even though this is a secret mission, since the Bureau has officially accepted the job, there is some backup.
It has been a long time since I had this feeling of working as the anchor of an organization.
“I’m going to ask you this just to be sure, are we free to kill him?”
I asked, looking at the man holding his stomach in agony.
If we let him get away, he’ll expose our cover.
As expected, it is difficult to remain unhurt while maintaining a covert action.
“Yeah. Don’t hesitate to kill him.”
“Roger that.”
I pointed my index finger at the man’s head and released 《magic bullet》.
The man’s life was over as soon as the short, plain sound rang out.
“I’ll take care of the rest, so please keep the dead camouflaged to a minimum.”
With that, Chris cut the communication.
I took the reddish-brown cloak from him and spread it out with both hands. Then, put it over the dead body in front of me.
It was really the minimum amount of camouflage.
If we don’t get rid of him soon, we’re going to be in trouble.
–There were no other enemies lurking nearby.
Perhaps the purpose of today’s visit was just to see what was going on, but there was no sign of any other enemies besides the man from earlier.
I took off my black cloak and passed magic through it again to turn it back into a small piece of cloth.
About two hours had passed since then.
Mize came out from the girls’ dormitory.
“Oh, Mr. Tweight?”
When Mize saw me, she glanced her eyes slightly.
“Good morning, Mize.”
“Yes, good morning. This is the first time we’re together here, isn’t it?”
“The road from the boys’ dormitory to the school is just one street away. I wanted to change things up a bit today, so I decided to take this one.”
“Oh, I know that feeling a little. Morning walks are very good, aren’t they?”
Mize said with a smile.
Speaking of which, why was Glan running in front of the girls’ dormitory?
Well, I guess it doesn’t really matter.
“Does Mize always go to school this early in the morning?”
We still have more than thirty minutes before class.
If I headed to the classroom now, I’d still have a lot of time.
“It’s usually around this time. I don’t like to oversleep.”
“What are you doing until class?”
“Wait in the classroom while I review my textbooks and occasionally stop by the training ground to practice my magic.”
“You’re diligent. I didn’t know.”
Mize smiled shyly.
When I think about it, I feel like Mize was always there before me when I entered the classroom.
However, coming to school early in the morning was not desirable from a security viewpoint.
Even though it’s only a five-minute walk from the dormitory to the school, it’s dangerous to go out at this time of day when there are few people on the street.
It would be better to go to school together until things are done.
I headed to the school with Mize, making future plans in my head.
