The Bird Flies Outside the Cage

Using a carriage arranged by Chris, Mize and I returned to the Kingdom of Terraria.

“It’s been a while since we’ve returned here.”

“Yeah.”

Seeing the scenery of the Royal Capital before our eyes, our hearts gradually feel warm and fuzzy.

A place filled with precious memories has become our new home. I can feel my emotions grow lighter.

“But the root of the problem still hasn’t been resolved.”

“You’re right. <Wisdom Road> hasn’t disappeared… I’m sure that this problem will resurface at some point.”

Although she was the person in question, Mize calmly fixed her gaze ahead.

“But it’s alright.”

Mize says with a smile.

“If it ever comes to that, you and I could have a child, Tweight-san. If a daughter is born, then there is a high possibility that she would inherit <Wisdom Road>. But we won’t restrain her like my father did to me. So, when the time comes, let’s run away as a family.”

“… Is it really necessary for me to be the other party?”

“Do you plan on involving other people? That seems a bit irresponsible of you.”

Her words were implying, “You should take responsibility”, so I kept my mouth shut.

Well, it would be a problem if I dragged her around that much and didn’t take responsibility. I’ll leave aside the subject of children and family for now.

Naturally, the reason we came back to the Royal Capital was to head to the academy.

Since we had gone on an unexcused leave of absence, it was our duty as students to receive a sermon before it was too late.

“Mize?”

When we had reached the school gates, Mize abruptly stopped walking.

As I looked at her appearance, she expressed her worries.

“Umm… we, left them, for a fairly long time. Is this place, still where we belong…”

“… Maybe, you don’t have to worry about that.”

I intend to take some responsibility for this as well.

But with that said, I don’t think I have to do much.

“Tweight! Mize!”

I push the hesitating Mize’s back, and as we were about to enter the academy, two students rushed to us from the front.

They were Elysia and Gran.

“Just where did you guys go off to?”

“Really now! You guys just suddenly disappeared!”

The two of them give us their respective complaints.

But their expressions showed not only anger, but relief and joy as well.

“I’m sure I properly wrote it down on the letter.”

I say in front of Mize, who blinks her eyes in surprise.

“That’s true, but… No, I’m still not convinced! What is this!? ‘We’re going on vacation for a bit.’!?”

“We had a fairly fun time. Here, some souvenirs.”

“Ah, wow– not!!”

When I gave her a souvenir from a village that we had stopped by on our way back to the Kingdom of Terraria, Elysia was pleased for a moment, but soon became indignant again.

As I told Mize when we started our elopement, I had written letters to both of them before we departed.

But the content of those letters was quite suitable, as Elysia had said earlier.

It was a message for when we returned someday.

If it was possible, I wanted to preserve the place where we belonged.

In fact, I had also prepared suicide notes in addition to the letters, but I will deal with them secretly later.

Something like a suicide note, is limited to be burnt and thrown away.

“Mize. It’s been a while, so let’s talk about the various souvenirs.”

When I said this to Mize, her face burst out into a big smile.

“Yes!!”

Author’s Note (Kakuyomu Version):

The Second Arc is complete.

This work also has a Light Novel version. The quality of the Light Novel version is better, so please enjoy it even if you are a reader of the Web Novel version!!

Also, on 1/26, the Third Volume, containing the chapters that follow after the Second Volume, will be released, so thank you for your cooperation!

You can already pre-order it!! (Since this was some time ago, just order it normally)

Author’s Note (Syosetu Version):

This is the end of the Second Arc.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, who have continued to read until this point.

I will do a review of the Second Arc in the Activity Report section, and I also intend to rewrite some parts of the Second Arc before starting the Third Arc. I will also be splitting and merging some of the chapters when I do so, so please forgive me if the overall number of stories changes.

The Third Arc will be something like a Sports Festival Arc at the academy.

I might write an Omake before then. (Unlike the previous arc, the Omake isn’t a separate chapter after the epilogue, but it might be the other Omakes written under chapters 30 and 39)

Translator’s Comments:

And with that, the Web Novel version of the Second Arc is completely translated. I hope you’ve enjoyed it so far, and please let me know if there are any errors.

I also plan on translating the Third Arc, which is the final one (for now). It’s not on Kakuyomu though, only on Syosetu.
