Chapter 28:
Title: Sakuraba-kun Is Self-Aware
This is an emergency.
As I sat in the school library after class, which I hadn’t visited in over 10 days, I crossed my arms and groaned.
Yesterday, Golden Week had ended, and school had started again.
Because of a few things that had happened during the holidays, I had come to the realization that things were going in the wrong direction.
To put it bluntly, I was getting too close to Yuunagi.
I found myself in this situation.
Of course, it wasn’t like we had gotten along particularly badly in the beginning, but, recently, we have been acting like normal friends.
The causes for this were obvious.
The first cause was that Yuunagi was a very good person.
Through her natural friendliness and good nature, she slowly but surely closed the distance between us, despite my admittedly terrible social skills.
But that’s just the way it is.
That is something that I am aware of.
I was aware of the fact that she was a wonderful girl not only on the outside but also on the inside.
Which is why the real problem lies in the other cause.
“….Hmm..”(Sakuraba)
I let out a long, slow sigh in the middle of the library.
The second cause is– I’m too moved by her affection.
I had once said that the relationship between Yuunagi and I was a contest of whether I would fall in love or she would give up first.
And I had thought that, over time, she would give up.
I thought that, if she came to realize how boring I was, she would naturally leave me alone.
But, contrary to my expectations, Yuunagi was very patient.
And I had come to like her more than I initially expected..
Of course, I don’t like her in a romantic sense.
I know that I don’t, but the more I get to know her and the more time I spend with her, the more I realize that Yuunagi is a perfect girl.
She makes bashful smiles at me and she showers me with sweet words.
In the face of these actions, any normal person would become sweeter to her, and I am no exception to that.
On top of that, both Aina and my mother have taken a liking to her, and, even at school, we hang out as friends.
I don’t think Yuunagi was thinking that far ahead, but, as a result, I had no place to escape.
“This is….bad, isn’t it.”(Sakuraba)
As I listened to myself mutter, my heart grew heavier and heavier.
In the first place, I’m too weak-willed.
I comforted her when she was crying, I invited her to my house, and we even watched a movie together.
In the end, her cuteness and sweetness got the better of me.
It was my fault for underestimating Yuunagi’s charm and tenacity.
I have to do something about this.
Rather than waiting for Yuunagi to give up on me, I have to make her fall out of love with me instead.
[TLN: It’s happening again please save me I don’t want to go through this loop again]
“….Okay.”(Sakuraba)
Grabbing my bag, I left the library.
It’s time to make a real strategy.
Just because I said that I want her to fall out of love with me doesn’t mean I have to make her hate me.
If I intentionally do something that she dislikes, I’ll be too scared of what might come afterwards, and, more than anything, I’ll feel bad about it.
As far as I can tell, the only option I have is to make Yuunagi naturally understand how ridiculous it is to be infatuated with me.
Isn’t there some other, better option…
No, there’s no way that someone like me, who has absolutely zero experience in romance, would be able to come up with something like that. It’d probably be a better idea to ask someone who’s more experienced in romance.
“Let’s ask Kazuma this time.”(Sakuraba)
I changed my shoes and exited through the entrance.
The weather isn’t looking so great…
It looks like it could start raining at any moment.
“…..Oh!”(Mikura)
“Hm….Oh, Mikura-san.”(Sakuraba)
When I looked in the direction of the voice I had heard, I found my classmate Mikura standing there.
As usual, Mikura’s back was very straight, making her seem very dignified.
It’s just that….I feel like I just saw her normally cool expression grow loose for whatever reason.
“A-, Aoto-kun….! W-, well, what a coincidence!”(Mikura)
“Yeah. Mikura-san, are you also heading home right now?”(Sakuraba)
“Y-, yeah. I had a few things to do, so I’m running a bit late.”(Mikura)
“Oh, I see. …..Ah!”(Sakuraba)
As I had expected, rain had begun to fall.
Plus, it was pretty heavy rain as well.
Both Mikura and I hurried under the roof to get shelter.
Oh man.
Should I spend some more time in the library and wait for the rain to calm down?
When I looked over, I saw Mikura firmly holding on to a light blue folding umbrella.
As expected of Mikura, she’s well prepared.
“A-, Aoto-kun, what about your umbrella?”(Mikura)
“Well…The forecast said that the weather was going to be clear today, and I also broke my previous umbrella a while ago and haven’t gotten a chance to buy a new one yet….”(Sakuraba)
“I-, I see….”(Mikura)
There’s no helping it. I still have a book in my bag that I haven’t finished yet, so for now I’ll just kill some time reading and wait to see what happens.
“U-, um, Aoto-kun. If you’re okay with it, do you…um, together….”(Mikura)
“….Hm?”(Sakuraba)
“How about the two of us….share an umbrella?”(Mikura)
For some reason, Yuunagi’s face came to mind.
[TLN: Apologies for the late chapter. I got a bit fed up with working on this(which I think is pretty understandable considering the contents of the chapter). Next chapter might be delayed cause I’m going to go clinically insane with all the Mikura stuff next chapter lmao.]
