Chapter 1

After being washed by a rainstorm, the Gobi Desert was so clean it made one's heart drunk.

Not to mention the poplars whose leaves had already turned yellow during the day, just the clusters of camel thorns were so green they brought a warm feeling to one's heart.

Lazily doing nothing, lying on the warm stones, watching the sun set on the horizon, where it seemed some mist had risen, eventually swallowing the red sun completely, and another day had been wasted.

Originally, a large star stubbornly appeared beside the sun during the day, but as the sun set, it became even more brilliant and dazzling. Before the moon appeared, it was the most powerful presence in the sky.

Night would eventually cover the earth, and then a large number of stars would come out, densely covering the sky, finally winking at every person who paid attention to the sky. The brightest star, after the sun set, gradually left people's sight with the Earth's rotation, a star rising and setting with the sun, which was its greatest sorrow.

There are many kinds of suns. Some powerful beings, though not called suns, have similarities to the sun. When they start to shine, everyone else must shut up.

There are many ways to shut up, for example, being drugged and thrown onto the Gobi Desert is one way to shut up.

There's nothing to complain about; the principle of the victor and the vanquished has been known for a long time.

It's just that those people were a bit too hasty... After living for many years, one realizes that one's life is more filled with gloom than joy, and there are hardly any moments to quietly appreciate the stars.

Now, one can take a good look...

The light from the stars is ultimately too cold. Under the starlight, the stones beneath one's body gradually cool down, and eventually, even one's thoughts are locked in the cold light of the stars.

The stars are actually very far away, so far that the distance is measured in light-years. Light-years are naturally units of distance, but more often, we prefer to use them as units of time. Although it doesn't conform to physical common sense, it doesn't matter. Physical knowledge is always evolving, and who can say what is right or wrong?

The cold light that falls on the eyes, who knows what year's information it records, but for us, it's all the same. We can't interpret the information...

We reject the starlight falling into our eyes because it is too cold, too indifferent, too real, and too merciless.

We would rather use our warm eyes to look at the future world than let the stars pour the cold history into our minds. Although it is very exciting, the bone-chilling cold is the deepest injury to us.

If we were to describe the process of death in detail, without a doubt, cold and death would be the best adjectives...

The information brought by the starlight is all cold, already dead news, which can only be placed in golden history books for us to worship.

If possible, we would rather know what lies ahead in our destiny than to trace the past. Since it's already wrong, let it be fixed there. Whether it's a grand feast or a noble title, it's not important; what's important is that they once existed.

Those stale, coffin-smelling things are not suitable for a young person to appreciate.

They prefer the new, from the bride to the newborn.

A beam of wandering light fell into the eyes, and no one knows how long it had wandered through the river of time. However, strangely, it had not turned cold, carrying a hint of warmth, warming our hearts and making us happy...

The eyes naturally traced the warm light back to its source. The collision of light naturally produces sparks, especially when both are hot...

Warmth is the best, and we, like infants, throw ourselves into the embrace of our mother—carrying the fragrance of milk...

With the power of light, we travel through space and time...

The sun is warm, and the light here gets the proper refraction, passing by the rapidly flying Mercury, avoiding the scorching Venus, and plunging into a blue planet...

With light, the sky naturally brightens.

The light slowly spread over the sea, then climbed up the mountains, and the world was bathed in light!

Unfortunately, there are always golden rays of sunlight that cannot penetrate the dense cloud layers...

Black clouds like ink covered the sky over Tokyo, making it as dark as dusk even during the day, with heavy rain pouring down, drenching the entire world.

This was a catastrophic weather event, with lightning illuminating the sky and thunder rumbling overhead...

The heavy rain ravaged the city of light, and the embankment was filled with disheveled people. They huddled on the riverbank, using mud, sandbags, boulders, and even their bodies and large boats to fill the terrifying breach.

A huge three-story pleasure boat struggled to navigate the turbulent Yellow River. The old boatman, barefoot on the bow, had a fierce expression, roaring out various commands. More than a dozen thick ropes, as thick as eggs, were deeply embedded in the muscles of hundreds of bare-chested men, who chanted low, deep slogans as they struggled to drag the pleasure boat slowly toward the breach.

The old boatman, seeing the pleasure boat reach the breach, gripped the trembling rudder with all his might and shouted loudly, "Yuan Yi, Yuan Wu, break open the hold, quickly—"

Two strong middle-aged men went to the reserved space in the pleasure boat's hold, lifted heavy hammers, and struck the bottom of the boat, which was left with only one layer of wood. With just one strike, the thick hold board cracked, and murky water spurted out, and the entire hold made a terrifying sound.

The two men turned and left, jumping into the Yellow River at the old boatman's urging. The younger man surfaced and shouted to the rapidly sinking pleasure boat, "Father!"

The old boatman, sinking with the pleasure boat, saw his two sons surface, and his tense face finally relaxed. He waved and shouted, "Go, go..."

The pleasure boat, loaded with sand and stones, was wedged across the large breach, and the waves it caused knocked everything off the deck. In an instant, the old boatman disappeared from sight.

Sandbags filled with sand and stones fell into the water like rain, and large bamboo baskets woven from thick bamboo strips were also filled with boulders and pushed into the turbulent breach by the men on shore. Gradually, the water flow at the breach slowed, and all the laborers and officials on the embankment cheered, working even faster.

A fork-shaped lightning bolt struck a willow tree by the river, splitting it in two like a sword. The people hiding under the tree instantly turned into fireballs.

The tall embankment trembled and silently split open a small crack. Then, with a loud rumble, a large amount of sand and soil collapsed, and the muddy river water, like a herd of wild horses gone mad, tore open an even more terrifying breach in an instant. The people working on the embankment only managed to run a few steps before being swallowed by the flood.

"Ah! Ah! Heaven—"

A green-robed official raised his hands to the sky and roared, then jumped into the surging waves. The muddy river merely swirled once and easily swallowed this small offering.

The river on the ground, the river on the ground!

If you lay on the embankment and looked along the flat embankment toward Tokyo, you would see the third level of the Tokyo Tower. Now, the Yellow River has breached the embankment...
