Chapter 23

"Emmmmm……"

This Pu Ai Hua has a really bad conscience, actually thinking of making me eat chicken feed. Chen Fei stood up in a huff.

"Old Pu, have you tasted it yourself?"

Pu Ai Hua said with a chuckle, "Ha ha ha, of course... it's fragrant!"

As soon as those words were out, he knew he had spoken too quickly and made a joke of himself.

"How much did you prepare? Don't make too much, or it will be wasted."

Seeing the other person back down, Chen Fei let this guy off the hook.

Considering the size and appetite of the fledgling, it would probably take three to five pounds of feed to raise it to adulthood.

"Ten pounds of chick feed, five pounds of wheat bran, and half a pound of mealworms. Should that be enough?"

Pu Ai Hua pushed a small cart and ran over, making chirping sounds to attract the attention of the fledgling, which had just opened its eyes, and no longer mentioned the evil idea of turning it into a skewer.

"Chirp! Chirp!"

The naive fledgling continued to roll around, completely unaware of the malicious intentions of the unscrupulous merchant.

"Enough, enough, that's plenty!"

Chen Fei didn't plan to feed this little bird for life. Once its wings were fully grown, it could fly away on its own.

The Hindukush Mountains are quite barren, but for wildlife, they are a paradise.

Airports are not friendly places for birds.

"Let me tell you, these mealworms..."

Just as Pu Ai Hua was about to introduce the method of raising mealworms to Chen Fei, he was suddenly interrupted.

"Are you Pu Ai Hua?"

Who?!

Pu Ai Hua and Chen Fei turned their heads to look in the direction of the voice.

"Who are you? What do you want? Why are you looking for me?"

The unscrupulous merchant suspiciously sized up the two men in black suits with sunglasses, feeling a sudden chill.

Chen Fei, however, furrowed his brow, as he had seen this kind of attire before.

One of the two men in black suits with sunglasses said expressionlessly, "Come with us!"

"Go where? What for?"

It wasn't until the other person showed handcuffs that Pu Ai Hua truly panicked.

These unexpected visitors had come with ill intentions.

"Don't move!"

The other man flicked his wrist, revealing a baton that crackled with electricity at the tip.

"Hey! What do you want?"

Chen Fei put down the technical manual, feeling very uneasy about these two men.

"This is our 911... Hey, kid, you actually dare... Ah!"

Pu Ai Hua, of course, wouldn't surrender without a fight. As soon as the other person grabbed his arm, he tried to struggle free but was punched to the ground in the next second.

The black-suited man who made the move was decisive and fierce, and blood immediately appeared at the corner of Pu Ai Hua's mouth.

The baton, crackling with electricity, was then jabbed into his body, causing him to convulse and stiffen, unable to move.

Not far away, the members of the combat flight squadron, who were on standby in the hangar as usual, heard the commotion and looked over.

"Chen Fei, this isn't your business."

The black-suited man who had taken down Pu Ai Hua seemed to recognize Chen Fei and called him by name.

The other man with the baton pulled out a document and showed it to Chen Fei and the pilots who were approaching.

"Internal Affairs!"

Chen Fei exclaimed in surprise.

He had seen the color and pattern on the cover of the document before.

The last time he saw it was on the international medical ship, and he didn't expect them to track him down to the 911 aircrew base.

Hearing Chen Fei mention Internal Affairs, the pilots slowed their steps, looking at each other with unease.

Internal Affairs is a special inspection department of the parent company of the 911 aircrew base, the Tianqi Defense Group, with authority higher than the security department, directly responsible to the board of directors.

No one expected that Internal Affairs would suddenly appear here and personally apprehend a kitchen helper.

Could this helper be a spy?

Everyone felt wary.

This was a tricky situation, and some pilots even whispered to Chen Fei not to act rashly.

"Rookie, don't act recklessly. Internal Affairs has a lot of power."

"Stay away from that guy. Don't get yourself into trouble."

"Internal Affairs? Damn! What did I do wrong? Why are you arresting me? It's a miscarriage of justice!"

Pu Ai Hua, with blood on his mouth, cried out in injustice. He had only been doing a little business; did it really warrant the involvement of Internal Affairs?

The Internal Affairs officer who had shown the document put it away and said to Pu Ai Hua, who was still shouting, "What have you been up to lately? Don't you know yourself?"

"What could I be up to...?"

Pu Ai Hua suddenly felt guilty and glanced at Chen Fei.

His recent secret actions were indeed questionable, but he never thought they would attract the attention of Internal Affairs.

From Chen Fei's reaction, it didn't seem like the young man had leaked any information.

"Who dares to touch our people!"

Xiao Ming, the burly maintenance chief, came to Chen Fei's side, holding a crowbar, with a serious and determined expression, indicating he wasn't joking.

Last time, the squadron leader Chekov had taken Chen Fei away, which had made him very angry. He wouldn't allow it to happen again, even if it was Internal Affairs.

The maintenance chief's words made the on-duty maintenance workers silently stand behind Xiao Ming and Chen Fei, staring at the two Internal Affairs officers with unfriendly expressions.

Even if it was Internal Affairs, they would still take care of them.

Maintenance workers are that cool!

The scene fell silent, and the electric baton's tip sparked, then the flashing light went out.

The two men in black suits with sunglasses exchanged glances, lifted the still immobilized Pu Ai Hua, and quickly took a few steps back, fearing any unnecessary misunderstandings.

After all, the other side was numerous, and two fists can't fight four hands. They didn't want to end up staying here if they couldn't take him away.

One of them said, "Our target is Pu Ai Hua, not Chen Fei."

If they didn't clarify the situation, things might get out of control.

Even with their high authority, Internal Affairs still had to follow the board's regulations and wouldn't do unnecessary things.

"Hmph!"

Xiao Ming, the maintenance chief, relaxed a bit, lowering the crowbar but not holding it in front of him.

The other maintenance workers slowly retreated, returning to their posts as if nothing had happened.

The tense atmosphere quietly dissipated.

The two men in black suits who were holding Pu Ai Hua breathed a sigh of relief, as did the others.

Everyone was afraid that these quiet and taciturn maintenance workers might suddenly lose their cool and start a fight.

As the two Internal Affairs officers were about to take Pu Ai Hua away, Chen Fei suddenly said, "Can I ask where you're taking him?"

The two men in black suits exchanged glances, and the one who had explained earlier said, "We are just following the company's orders. We don't know the specifics."

If the situation were different, he would have simply said it was a company secret and not to ask, and anyone who persisted would be taken away with a cuff. But now, out of respect for the maintenance chief standing next to Chen Fei, he explained a bit more.

"Chen, save me!"

Pu Ai Hua looked at Chen Fei with a pleading gaze, seeing him as his last hope.

Whether it was a subordinate unit or the headquarters of the Tianqi Defense Group, everyone feared Internal Affairs and avoided them. A mere kitchen helper in Internal Affairs' hands would likely not fare well.

He was probably doomed!

"Don't act rashly!"

Even though he was willing to stand up for Chen Fei, Xiao Ming, the maintenance chief, didn't want to directly confront Internal Affairs.

He was just the head of the maintenance team at the 911 aircrew base, and his rank and authority were far from enough to challenge the board's will.

Chen Fei hesitated and said helplessly, "Sorry! Old Pu, you'd better tell the truth and cooperate with them. If it's just a misunderstanding, they should let you go."

He understood the maintenance chief's good intentions.

A new recruit who had just joined, with no power, no influence, and no background, and who owed the company money, had no leverage to stand up to a special department of the company.

Although he had some connections with the unscrupulous merchant, connections are just connections. In the face of company rules, any connection is meaningless. Even if he wanted to help, he was powerless.

If the other person had really done something illegal, acting out of loyalty would only bring trouble, and the cost would outweigh the benefits.
