Takar, the 911 Air Base supervisor, formally accepted the employment contract and then took out a stack of documents, pushing them over and explaining, "Don't borrow money from those vampires so casually anymore. Since you're here, just focus on working hard. This is the probationary agreement, in triplicate. Sign it and put your fingerprint on it. Do you have a copy of your ID? If not, it's no problem; there's a photocopier nearby. After you're regularized, you'll sign the formal temporary employment contract."
Takar didn't notice the unusual gaze of the young man across the desk. He kept opening drawers, finally taking out a card and placing it on the card reader connected to the computer. He left many yellowish marks on the keyboard and mouse. After retrieving the signed agreement, he tossed the card over and began to ramble about the relevant matters after joining.
"Here! This is your work card. Your meal expenses and salary are all in it. You can bind it to mobile payments. The meal expenses for this month have already been pre-deposited. It's also your dormitory access card. Your dorm is B13. It's also a pass card; if a door can be swiped open, you can enter; if not, stay away. Don't lose it. I suggest you wear it around your neck. If you lose it, come to me immediately. From now on, you're a new recruit at 911. Tomorrow, someone will take you to get your work uniform and for onboarding training."
"Thank you!"
Chen Fei thanked him and prepared to put away the work card.
The agreement with the creditor was now officially fulfilled, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, there was no delay; otherwise, a substantial penalty would have been added.
Takar suddenly extended his hand, pressing his index finger on the work card in front of Chen Fei, and said with a half-smile, "Wait a moment, rookie. Are you short of money?"
Chen Fei honestly replied, "Yes!"
After all, he still had a debt of 5 million star coins, and now he had to work to pay it off. Saying he wasn't short of money would be a lie.
The terms of the employment contract couldn't hide the fact that Chen Fei was financially struggling. It clearly stated that the credit company would take 95% of his monthly salary, leaving him only 5%.
Takar's eyes gleamed with a sinister look.
"Can I suck your niúzi?"
"What?"
"That thing!"
The personnel manager made a lewd gesture and chuckled.
Bang!~
The bowl of curry rice was flipped over, and the 911 Air Base personnel manager was covered in curry and chicken.
Chen Fei had long been annoyed by this guy, who turned out to be a pervert. He should be tied to a stake and sacrificed to the heavens.
Chen Fei, always a good boy who loved learning, never hit people casually. Of course, scumbags don't count as people, so hitting them was pointless.
"What's going on?"
The office door was suddenly pushed open, and a passing security guard heard the commotion and came in to check.
Chen Fei had a cold expression and said nothing.
The atmosphere in the office fell into silence.
Takar picked a small piece of rice from his forehead, put it in his mouth, chewed, and swallowed, then awkwardly shook his head and said, "Uh! Nothing, nothing!"
He forgot he was using his left hand.
Oh no!
What about the tradition!
"It's fine if it's nothing!"
The security guard glanced at Chen Fei, found nothing unusual, and left.
Chen Fei took a tissue from the desk, carefully wiped the work card clean, and put it in his pocket without any apology. "Can I go now?"
I'm a performer, not a prostitute!
You think you're worthy of sucking my niúzi?
No wonder the pay here is a bit higher; this place is toxic!
The outwardly strong but inwardly weak Takar revealed his true colors, forcing a smile and spreading his hands to indicate that Chen Fei could leave. He didn't have the courage to use his authority as a personnel manager to say anything, let alone make threats.
Chen Fei's hometown had a significant international status.
If anyone dared to defy, a courier would personally come to knock on their head: "Brother, you have a package. Dongfeng Express, mission accomplished."
Those who resist will be beaten, and those who resist in their hearts will be dragged out and beaten. Serve with virtue!
Do you fear?
The militiamen under the poplar trees were immediately panicked, unable to provoke.
The pervert Takar was now in a panic. If the matter escalated, he would definitely lose his job.
Only after Chen Fei slammed the door and left with his luggage did he finally breathe a long sigh of relief, pinching his fingers and lamenting, "Homosexuality isn't illegal, why treat me like this?"
Chen Fei's guess was correct; this place was toxic!
Highly toxic!
---
Leaving the personnel manager's office, Chen Fei looked up. Night had fallen, and the sky was full of stars. A faintly glowing ring brushed past the crescent moon, slowly crossing the night sky.
That was the digital intelligent construct Cybertrom, which controlled the gateway to another world and overlooked the entire human civilization of the Blue Star. It wasn't an extraterrestrial visitor but a native creation of the Blue Star.
Unfortunately, he couldn't afford the fees to travel to another world, so the idea of visiting the Celestial Realm could only remain a thought.
Besides the "Ring" gateway controlled by Cybertrom, the Blue Star still retained some star gates to the Primordial Realm, connecting to a world of endless desolation and death, with nothing but ruins and flying sand. It was very dangerous.
"New here?"
An old voice brought Chen Fei back to his senses.
"Yes, yes!"
Chen Fei quickly responded.
The next second, he was stunned and blurted out, "Neanderthal?"
As a remnant of the Third Epoch civilization, the Neanderthals were the initiators of the "Three Realms Fusion War" thirty years ago. Their desperate cross-realm invasion caught the Blue Star off guard. However, due to the combined forces of the two worlds in the later stages of the war, they were ultimately defeated, nearly leading to the extinction of their race.
The human civilization of the Blue Star didn't fare much better. The war caused massive destruction, with nuclear weapons being used extensively, leading to significant economic setbacks and suffering for many countries. It took at least twenty years to recover.
Since the battlefield was on the Blue Star, the severe nuclear radiation damage to the environment couldn't be restored in just a few decades or even a century. Mutated creatures and out-of-control lethal bacteria and viruses once wreaked havoc, and it took several years to barely control them. The cost of the aftermath was comparable to another "Three Realms Fusion War."
After the war, the Neanderthal remnants chose to integrate into the human civilization of the Blue Star, at least avoiding being forced back to the hopeless Primordial Realm. In a sense, they achieved their strategic goals, but the cost was enormous. The twelve ruling tribes were gone, the Star Flame Flag of the Supreme Council would never rise again, and the remaining population was critically endangered.
The Neanderthals and the Blue Star humans, descendants of the Homo sapiens, were two flowers on the same vine. There was no reproductive isolation between the two races, and the general public didn't resist racial integration. After all, Neanderthal girls and boys were quite attractive (in battle). In the years following the war, many mixed-race children were born, such as black, white, and yellow Neanderthals. In one or two hundred years, pure-blooded Neanderthals would become a legend, a result welcomed by the higher-ups of the Blue Star human civilization.
Seeing a Neanderthal old man in this remote air base was somewhat unexpected for Chen Fei.
Neanderthals have distinct physical features, making them easy to identify. Regardless of age or gender, they are generally tall and have special tattoos, with combatants having more prominent red tattoos.
If it weren't for the nearby lighting, Chen Fei might have mistaken the glowing bald head and face covered in blood-red tattoos for a demon in the night.
"Neanderthal? What a nostalgic name!"
The old man seemed to be lost in memories, suddenly smiling and saying in a hoarse voice, "Ha, I'm old, always reminiscing about the past. Hey, new recruit, what's your name?"
Chen Fei obediently replied, "Hello, my name is Chen Fei, Chen as in 'ear' and Fei as in 'right and wrong.'"
Despite the deep wrinkles and blood-red tattoos, Chen Fei knew that ten of him wouldn't be a match for one of the old man's arms or legs. The old Neanderthal could easily pin him down and beat him up, and if he used his secret techniques, he could send Chen Fei's head flying a hundred meters away.
