"Here!"

The sudden knock on the door made Chen Fei speculate, and he hurriedly pulled the door open.

The sunlight that had been shining into the room was momentarily blocked, as if a small hill had suddenly appeared. He couldn't help but widen his eyes.

Outside the door stood a tall, muscular man with a wooden expression. He glanced at Chen Fei, handed him a thick bag, and said, "Get dressed, then come with me to start work."

A hard-to-describe smell of motor oil wafted over, and even the light gray work uniform couldn't hide the bulging muscles. The man was at least two meters tall, and his head could easily touch the door frame.

No wonder such a big guy wouldn't like the meek doorbell; even a light knock sounded like a door being smashed.

"Oh, thank you!"

Chen Fei took the bag, which contained work clothes. He was about to close the door to change, but then he remembered something and opened the door again, saying, "Did you say 'start work training'?"

The man seemed to have left out the word "training" just now.

The man, still expressionless, said, "No training, just start work. I'm the mechanic supervisor, Xiao Ming."

The promised training was gone, and he was being thrown into the deep end.

It was probably the perverted personnel manager Takal's doing. Since he didn't get his way, he canceled the training, which would undoubtedly increase the difficulty of starting the job.

Just arriving at the 911 Air Base, he was hit with a show of force. Starting in the mechanics group, the difficulty level was hell from the beginning.

The Neanderthal old man Barut was right; the personnel manager was no good!

Despite being a private contractor, the 911 Air Base was still a military unit with many secrets that couldn't be disclosed, especially to newbies like Chen Fei, who shouldn't pry.

However, during last night's drinking session, Barut, a fellow worker, shared a lot of useful information, either explicitly or implicitly, to help Chen Fei avoid running into walls.

As a reward, the large bag of handmade bread that Teacher Shen Fei gave Chen Fei ended up in the Neanderthal old man's stomach.

For someone his age, he sure could eat!

"Okay, okay! Please wait a moment!"

As a new recruit, Chen Fei had no right to question and quickly changed into the work uniform, reappearing before the mechanic supervisor Xiao Ming.

The light gray work uniform with many pockets looked quite sharp on Chen Fei.

"Follow me!"

Xiao Ming didn't say much, turned around, and walked away briskly, not even looking back.

"Are you in the aviation field? Do you have a CCAR license?"

Chen Fei, who hurried to follow, answered honestly, "No, I don't. I am..."

Before he could finish, Xiao Ming interrupted, "Do you have a pilot's license?"

His tone became noticeably stiffer, and the questions seemed redundant since the field didn't match.

"Uh, no!"

Chen Fei's lips twitched.

An ordinary person would be happy to have a car, let alone think about flying.

What a joke!

"Can you operate a computer proficiently?"

The mechanic supervisor's tone became even stiffer, and he seemed to have a bad temper.

"Yes, yes, I can use various office software."

As a former undergraduate from a prestigious university who had prepared for postgraduate studies, how could Chen Fei not be familiar with computers, the most basic tool of productivity? He quietly breathed a sigh of relief, glad he knew something.

Otherwise, if he couldn't answer three questions, it would be embarrassing.

If he couldn't even use a computer, the next question would likely be whether he could read and write, a question that, while not harmful, would be extremely insulting.

Actually, he was overthinking. If he dared to say "no," the tall, muscular mechanic supervisor would have directly sent him to the cleaning crew to waste his youth sweeping and moving bricks.

On the way, he saw many people with deep-set eyes, large noses, and beards, or those with sallow skin from the Middle East. Seeing someone with black hair, black eyes, and light yellow skin again made him feel a natural sense of familiarity.

However, Xiao Ming wasn't from Chen Fei's hometown. He had Samoyed blood, which gave him a physique that rivaled or even surpassed that of white people.

Due to factors like location, transportation, and safety, the 911 Air Base was always short-staffed, and the departments were never fully staffed. This had nothing to do with wages, which were actually quite high, with good benefits and full insurance. Yet, few people were willing to waste their youth in this desolate, cold place.

Wasn't life in a more comfortable and convenient big city more appealing?

Even if they earned a bit more, it wouldn't be enough for a down payment on a house!

If not for this, the air base wouldn't have to accept even non-specialized recent graduates. After all, they were just tools, and as long as they could work, that was enough.

When they heard that a genuine university undergraduate had arrived, the highly technical mechanics group was the first to act.

However, the enthusiastic mechanic supervisor Xiao Ming, who came to knock on the door, was disappointed. The new recruit wasn't in an aviation-related field, didn't have a CCAR license, and didn't even have a pilot's license. He had no connection to aviation, except for a few flights he had taken, where he knew how to fasten a seatbelt. He was a complete novice, even less qualified than a layman.

The 911 Air Base maintained a normal flight schedule, and the resulting daily maintenance and repair workload was already overwhelming the already understaffed mechanics group, leaving no time for a break, let alone a normal vacation.

However, some tasks couldn't be rushed. Each task had a standard time, and even a minute couldn't be cut. If something went wrong, the material loss would be minor, but the entire process might have to be redone, causing even more chaos for the already busy mechanics group.

After a series of disappointments, what relieved Xiao Ming was that the young man had some computer skills, so he wouldn't have to start from scratch. With the learning ability of a recent university graduate, he wouldn't let him down!

The 911 Air Base was built on a flattened hilltop, with a 1,500-meter-long main runway occupying two-thirds of the base, capable of supporting the takeoff and landing of medium-sized transport aircraft.

Although large transport aircraft could also take off and land, they required the activation of a magnetic capture device, which would consume the full output power of the Target Low-Temperature Nuclear Fusion Energy Tower, potentially shutting down most of the base's electrical equipment.

The hangar, as large as a basketball court, was the tallest and most prominent building near the main runway, consisting of two connected arched structures, Hangar 1 and Hangar 2, which were also the workspace of the mechanics group.

Mechanic supervisor Xiao Ming led Chen Fei to Hangar 1, where six propeller aircraft were lined up, enjoying their dedicated work areas. On the opposite side of the main aisle, two helicopters were parked, with large-caliber machine guns and rocket pods on their weapon mounts, and two empty mounting points on each side, possibly for missiles, making them look intimidating.

In stark contrast to the busy activity in Hangar 1, a group of about seven or eight people occupied a small area. Some were using fitness equipment, some were lying on beach chairs, drinking beverages, some were wearing headphones, resting with their eyes closed while enjoying music, some were reading thick books, and some were swiping their phone screens.

None of them were doing any real work, each engaged in their own activities.

One of them noticed Xiao Ming and Chen Fei and called out in a strange tone, "Mechanic Supervisor Xiao, you're here early. The guy next to you looks new! Konnichiwa..."

He winked at Chen Fei, looking mischievous.

"What's it to you, Yamada!"

Mechanic supervisor Xiao Ming retorted irritably.

Chen Fei maintained a harmless, stiff smile but didn't know what to say.

Yamada, definitely not a real name.

"Little brother, want to work on the machines?"

A short-haired girl licked her lips at Chen Fei, holding a large dumbbell. Her smooth, chocolate-colored skin was well-defined with muscles, and she wore a short sports bra, revealing a well-defined six-pack, with an A-cup on top.

Work on the "machines"? Or "girls"?

And who is "little brother"?

Chen Fei was confused. What did this short-haired girl mean?

"Back off, he's mine!"

Xiao Ming sternly declared his ownership of Chen Fei.

Σ(°△°|||)︴

This, this seems even more ambiguous!

"Che! Machine guy!"

The short-haired girl, with a strong presence, gave the tall, muscular mechanic supervisor the middle finger.

In the air base, the mechanics group was nicknamed "machine guys," who worked on the machines with the flight squad, and they were quite skilled at it, purely in the literal sense, with no other meaning.

If the flight squad's leader were there, he might have had a few more words to say to the mechanic supervisor.

" Ignore them, the flight squad guys only talk big."

Xiao Ming raised his fist, as big as a sand bowl, and clenched it, saying proudly, "We in the mechanics group can fix planes and fix them!"

His arm was thicker than Chen Fei's thigh. Chen Fei was speechless. Sir, you're right about everything.

A Samoyed mixed-blood, with a naturally muscular body, defaulting to the Thirteen Tai Bao training and the Golden Bell Shield, with 360-degree absolute defense, just looking at him was intimidating. In a one-on-one fight, he wouldn't fear anyone.
