Chapter 27

After finishing negotiations with the queen of the Hell Hornets, I decided to head back to my dwelling immediately.

"Shall we move? Should I carry the nest and move it?"

I think it would be easier and safer to have Rent carry the entire nest rather than having the Hell Hornets fly individually.

"That would be much appreciated."

"Alright, let's do that. I'll just detach the nest from the tree, so don't panic."

I gently told the Hell Hornets to stay calm as Rent extended his arm and carefully cradled the high-placed nest.

"You can also go inside the nest if you want."

"Yes, thank you."

I sensed the queen of the Hell Hornets hesitating, so I introduced myself.

"My name is Hashira. Gaianote is Rent."

"Nice to meet you, Lord Hashira, Lord Rent."

The queen of the Hell Hornets bowed politely and returned to the nest with the other Hell Hornets.

"Alright, let's head back and build a new home for the Hell Hornets."

I was eager to eat honey, so we returned by riding on a tree. Since it was just a matter of extending the tree, it was very easy, and we returned in less than a quarter of the time it took to get there.

As we approached my home, Leidia, who was checking the crops, called out to me.

"Hashira, what is Rent carrying...?"

"It's a Hell Hornets' nest."

"Nice to meet you. We are now under Lord Hashira's protection. Please take care of us."

"Y-Yes, nice to meet you."

When the queen of the Hell Hornets came out to greet us, Leidia's face twisted in a strange way.

What's wrong? Could she be afraid of bees?

If that's the case, it would be bad, so I'll have to ask her about it later.

"I didn't expect to find such a house and fields in this forest... And there are Kiraplants here too."

"This area doesn't attract many monsters, and if they do come, the Kiraplants and Rent will take care of them, so it's safe. Do you have any preferred location? It should be close enough for you to take care of them."

"We are weak against rain, so a place that can shelter us from the rain would be ideal. Also, a location not too far from the feeding grounds would be helpful."

Hmm, it seems they prefer a similar environment to bees.

"Building a hive shouldn't be a problem regarding the rain. We can plant flowers almost anywhere."

"In that case, I'll leave it to you, Lord Hashira."

"Understood."

In that case, a location not too far from the Kiraplants would be good.

Near the dismantling shed would be ideal. That area doesn't have many fields, and I can easily check on them.

Rent and I moved near the dismantling shed and started building the hive.

I decided to use a multi-tiered hive design, similar to what I knew from my previous life.

I laid down stone slabs on the ground. The construction itself was very simple, so I made the entrance, tiers, slats, and a cover, and stacked them. That was it.

"I've prepared the hive. How does it look?"

When I spoke to the nest, the queen of the Hell Hornets emerged with her companions.

"Which part should we enter?"

"I've made a hole in the lower part for access."

"Ah, really!"

After I explained, the queen of the Hell Hornets and her companions entered the hive through the entrance.

Since the queen was larger, I made a bigger hole, but it seemed to work fine, which was a relief.

"The roof is solid and enclosed! This will protect us from rain and wind, and we feel safe! We really like it!"

The excited voice of the queen of the Hell Hornets echoed from inside the hive.

It seems they like the hive.

In that case, this location should be fine.

I used my ability to make flowers bloom around the area.

Colorful flowers bloomed, turning the surroundings into a flower field.

"I've made flowers bloom around here."

"Thank you."

When I said that, the Hell Hornets started to emerge from the hive and gather around the flowers.

I chose flowers with abundant nectar, so they had a sweet fragrance.

It's like aromatherapy. Being in this flower field is very calming.

I hadn't seen the benefit of making flowers bloom before, so I hadn't done it, but I wish I had done it earlier.

It's not just about being useful or not. Just looking at beautiful flowers can be soothing. Next time, I'll make them bloom around the house and fields.

"Is the size of the entrance, which serves as the hive's entrance, okay? Will there be any congestion?"

"It seems fine."

"Got it. If there are any issues, let me know. I'll adjust it. I'll also inform the Kiraplants about the honey."

"Thank you! Please use half of the honey from that nest!"

"Thank you."

Now I have the Hell Hornets' honey.

In a while, we should be able to harvest honey from this hive too.

They get a comfortable and safe home, and we get honey as a thank you. It's a win-win relationship.

After leaving the hive, I headed to the Kiraplants.

"Is it okay if the Hell Hornets occasionally collect nectar?"

When I asked, the Kiraplants nodded.

"Also, to protect the Hell Hornets, I want to place some Insect Killers."

When I said that, the Kiraplants spat out small seeds, which I thanked and took back to the flower field.

I planted the Insect Killer seeds near the flower field, watered them, and applied a growth accelerator.

The Insect Killers sprouted quickly, so I strictly ordered the Hell Hornets not to eat them and to guard the flower field.

This way, the Hell Hornets won't be bothered by other small insects.

"Wow, there are so many beautiful flowers."

"Beautiful flower fields. Did you grow these, Hashira?"

After finishing the preparations satisfactorily, Carmilla, who was plowing the soil, and Leidia, who was watching from a distance, approached.

Leidia is one thing, but Carmilla might recklessly enter and cause trouble.

"Carmilla, this is a place to take care of the Hell Hornets to get honey, so don't mess it up. Here, have some honey."

"Wow, it's delicious! We need to make the Hell Hornets work hard!"

After giving her some honey, Carmilla seemed to understand the importance of this place.

"Give me some too."

"Sure."

She had a twisted expression when she saw the Hell Hornets but seemed to want to eat the honey.

I shared some with Leidia and kept some for myself to eat.

The thick honey melted in my mouth like butter, spreading a rich sweetness.

It's as if I'm eating caramel, it's so rich and delicious.

It's really, really good.

"I've never tasted it before, but it's even better than I imagined."

"Leidia, you've never had it before?"

"Well, those super dangerous Hell Hornets have enough venom in their stingers to kill us dozens of times."

"…When we met, the queen came out and surrendered immediately…"

"They are merciless to weaker enemies."

Leidia spoke with a far-off look in her eyes.

Don't worry. I don't know the strength difference between the Hell Hornets and Leidia, but they are our allies now, not enemies. They won't attack us.

For now, let's use this honey to make some sweet jam.

Thanks to the Hell Hornets' honey, we were able to make a very delicious jam.
