"Hmm? My parents' house?"
Waking up to the brightness, I saw a familiar ceiling.
However, the rustling of leaves as I moved and the smell of leaves brought me back to reality.
"Right, I was transferred to another world."
This is not my parents' house in modern Japan, but my house in the middle of a forest in another world.
"Whoa!? I got a shock!"
When I suddenly remembered and sat up, I was startled to see a golem sitting in a triangle in front of me.
The sight of the wooden golem, with its large body folded, sitting there was quite surreal.
Right, this is the one I made just yesterday.
"Have you been waiting here all this time?"
There was no answer, but from the way it was sitting in the room, it must have been.
Since it's a wooden golem, it probably doesn't need food, water, or sleep.
If that's the case, this golem is a very reliable partner.
"Anyway, if you're nearby, you can relax."
When I said that, the golem stood up a bit away.
Even though the fire was out, it seemed to be afraid of sitting near the hearth.
It's bigger than me and has strength, and it doesn't get tired.
In this new life in the forest, it's a great source of comfort.
Even if I want to live a relaxed life, it's lonely to be alone all the time.
Although it can't speak, it understands my words and seems to have a faint will.
With the golem around, I won't feel lonely for a while, even if I'm alone.
After getting up from the leaf bed, I stretched my arms up.
The muscles that had been cramped stretched out, and it felt good.
The leaf bed is cushiony, but without sheets or anything, it's a bit prickly. It also has a slight leafy smell.
Still, it's much more comfortable than sleeping on the floor, so I'll probably be using the leaf bed for a while.
After gathering the scattered leaves and pushing them to the side, I ate the remaining Gravelingos and Pink Cherries, and gnawed on some Amaguki.
Even though they're delicious fruits, eating them three times in a row gets a bit tiring. But I can't afford to complain until my life stabilizes.
After finishing breakfast, I got to work.
There's a lot to do today, like securing food, retrieving a deer, and making a pot, but first, I want to check if I can grow crops.
I have the seeds of the Gravelingos and Pink Cherries I just finished eating. If I plant them in the field, I should be able to grow them with the blessing.
If I can grow crops, I want to do it as soon as possible.
Stepping outside the house, I moved to a slightly distant spot.
Wishing for a hoe, the staff in my hand turned into a hoe.
It's completely wooden, but when I tried it out, it easily turned the soil.
Indeed, this is excellent. It's far more efficient than ordinary iron tools.
With the hoe, I want to start plowing right away, but if I work freely, the field will become uneven.
"Let's try this much for a start?"
I created a marker by growing trees to form a 5m x 5m area.
If I don't go beyond this area and plow towards the markers, the rows won't be diagonal.
I might have too few seeds to plant, but I'll gather everything that can be grown in the forest, so it shouldn't be a problem.
If the crops increase and I have spare, I can expand the field.
I immediately started digging the ground with the hoe. It was so easy to dig that it was almost creepy.
But, it felt nostalgic. When I was a child, I helped my grandfather in his field, though only a little.
The hoe back then was heavier and harder to handle.
I quite like this kind of solitary work. I don't have to think about unnecessary things and can be in a state of mindlessness.
After working the soil for a while, I noticed the golem watching me intently.
"Can you help me?"
It's nice that it's guarding the surroundings, but it would be even better if it could help.
I made a wooden hoe and gave it to the golem.
The golem started plowing the ground with the hoe.
It doesn't seem to have the same performance as my hoe, but thanks to its abundant strength, it's plowing without any problems.
Actually, since the golem doesn't seem to feel fatigue, I feel like I'm the slower one.
If I only plowed one row, it would be very embarrassing, so I put in more effort to increase my speed.
◆
"Phew, we managed to do it."
By the time the sun was high in the sky, a beautiful ridge had been formed in the 5m x 5m area.
Looking at the neatly raised ridges, it felt quite satisfying.
"I did a good job finishing this much in such a short time."
Saying this with a refreshing smile, I felt a slightly exasperated gaze from the golem.
"It's a lie. I only managed to plow a little more than one row."
Most of this ridge was done by the golem.
At first, it was clumsy and used brute force, but it quickly learned by watching me. With its endless stamina, there was no way I could keep up.
After all, it can work non-stop without feeling fatigue. As a mere human, I can't compete. It's like a human trying to match a machine.
I could have generated more hoes and used vines to resist, but it had been a long time since I did farm work. I wanted to do it with my own hands.
In the end, most of the work was done by the golem.
Still, it's good that the ridges are done.
I immediately started planting the Gravelingo and Pink Cherry seeds with the golem.
It was amusing to see the golem struggling with the small seeds.
After planting the seeds, I watered them lightly and placed my hand on the ridges, wishing for them to grow.
The ridges were enveloped in a pale emerald light, and branches and leaves sprouted from the soil in an instant.
"Wow! The branches and leaves are already growing!"
Thanks to the blessing of the plant god of fertility, I could make them grow instantly.
If they continue to grow, they will probably reach the same size as the ones in the forest.
However, managing them will be difficult, so I'll prune them to keep them compact.
I'll save the larger ones for when I have more leeway.
If I use my power, I can make them grow and harvest them quickly, but my knowledge tells me that the land will wither if I overdo it.
There's also a way to make them grow rapidly without exhausting the land, but I can try that next time.
The best way is to use my power gradually to avoid depleting the nutrients in the soil.
It usually takes years to grow fruit, but with the power of the blessing, I can shorten that time significantly.
I'm looking forward to the harvest.
