Chapter 19

Outside the main general's tent, He Ping found himself in a dilemma again. This was the largest tent in the entire camp, surrounded by torches that illuminated the area. If it weren't for the effects of his disguise still in place, he would have been discovered by the surrounding patrol teams long ago. Even though he was still safe for now, he was still at a loss about what to do next, because the main general's tent had only one entrance, and on either side of the entrance stood ten guards.
These ten guards were clearly not ordinary; their plate armor and long halberds were clearly not mass-produced and were far superior to those of the surrounding sentries and patrol teams. Their muscular builds suggested that they were not to be trifled with, and they appeared to be the main general's personal guards. He Ping was confident he could take out one or two of them in an instant, but ten? Not only was it questionable whether he could defeat them, but if they made any noise, he would attract the enmity of all the soldiers.
With no hope of entering through the entrance and the tent's quality being too good to breach directly, the only option left was another ability—Blink! However, like other abilities, Blink had a full day cooldown. Entering the tent by blinking through the outer wall was simple, but how to get out was another matter.
Feeling the time slipping away, with the remaining effects of his disguise and perception dwindling, and sensing that there was only one person sleeping on a bed inside the tent, He Ping made his decision. He activated the Blink ability, and the surrounding patrol teams did not notice any abnormalities, but He Ping had already appeared inside the tent. The effect of the Blink ability allowed him to pass through obstacles, and he directly penetrated the outer wall of the tent.
The inside of the tent was pitch black. Even with his perception still in effect, He Ping could not see the details clearly. He could only barely sense the obstacles and avoid them to reach the bed. On the bed lay a man in his thirties, who looked somewhat similar to the previously encountered Chris and Wolfgang. Seeing this man, He Ping felt lucky. This man was his target, "Poison Wolf" Brian Lance!
What to do next? Kill him? No, no, no! It wasn't that simple. Even the "Silver Wolf" Chris, who had the least crimes among the three wolves, was publicly executed, with the reward points being 150 and 200 for Brian and Wolfgang, respectively. The blacklist required the same method of punishment for these two: a public trial followed by a public execution.
"Consider yourself lucky, old man. I can't kill you now, so you get to live a few more days! Maybe you'll even get to see your family again." He Ping said this to himself and then disappeared, returning to the tower. This was his plan. Since he couldn't use the Blink ability immediately, he would wait until the next day. In the tower, he had food and drink, and he could also spend his free time researching any undiscovered functions of the tower and observing Brian.
After all, all of Brian's crimes were listed in the blacklist, unlike Chris, whom he met on the battlefield where it was a matter of life or death. He Ping did not have a subjective understanding of Brian's crimes, so he planned to spend a day observing Brian to see what kind of person he was. If he wasn't beyond redemption, maybe he could let him off... Well, that was a lie, even He Ping didn't believe it. In his heart, Brian was already a dead man.
"Poison Wolf" Brian had no idea that this was the last day of his good life. After enjoying a luxurious breakfast brought by his guards in the morning, he stayed in the tent without going out. However, he wasn't idle; he continuously received military reports from various fronts and issued corresponding orders, displaying a strategic demeanor. But He Ping, who knew what Brian was really doing, didn't have such thoughts.
The first military report Brian received was from his father, Wolfgang. Although an assassin appeared in Wolfgang's camp last night, their skill was average, and they didn't include the killer of Chris. They were all eliminated before even breaking through Wolfgang's defenses. However, from the second report onward, all the information was about He Ping, which He Ping naturally saw.
"Appearing suddenly between the two armies? What kind of intelligence is this! Unbelievably strong? Stronger than Chris? When did Tianhua produce such a person? Wearing strange clothing and wielding a fully metal halberd? Could he be from a remote area? His true identity has not been found, and he is only known as He Ping. His family and residence are unknown? What a bunch of incompetents, they can't even handle such a simple task. Can't find his family? Then burn all the surrounding villages! I don't believe his family isn't among them!"
Seeing the irate Brian, He Ping's heart also filled with a surge of killing intent. Family, this was his Achilles' heel, and anyone who touched it would die! No negotiation! Although his family was not here and Brian couldn't harm them, Brian's thoughts only added to He Ping's anger. He had already decided not to let Brian off, and now he had one more reason to eliminate him.
The day passed quickly, and Brian didn't go out much, spending most of his time in the tent. It seemed he wasn't stupid; although he didn't think He Ping would come to attack him, he was very concerned about his safety. He always had soldiers accompanying him wherever he went, and he was alone only in the tent. However, he never imagined that the real threat was already waiting for him inside the tent.
As night fell, after all the skills had passed their one-day cooldown, He Ping silently appeared inside Brian's tent. Looking at the sleeping Brian, He Ping showed a cruel smile. He covered Brian's mouth with one hand and extended his fingers with the other, then slashed down, cutting into Brian's neck. The sleeping Brian didn't have time to react and fell into a deeper sleep—unconsciousness.
Then He Ping lightly waved his hand, and the next moment, Brian disappeared! The consciousness left in the tower immediately sensed the change. In one of the cells in the prison area of the tower, Brian appeared. This was a new function He Ping had developed over the day. As long as the enemy was completely suppressed and unable to resist, he could send them to the prison. In the prison, all powers were sealed, making it impossible to escape. In other words, Brian was now at He Ping's mercy!
