Chapter 2

He Ping had always considered himself to be very calm. Of course, this calmness was not innate; anyone who had gone through what He Ping had would find it hard to remain calm. However, calmness also has its limits. Waking up in an unknown place after a night of heavy drinking and blacking out was nothing new to He Ping. The bizarre situation of his body shrinking, his age decreasing, his strength increasing, and his intelligence rising was merely something worth noting for him.
But the events that followed shattered his calmness. This couldn't be blamed on He Ping. Anyone living in modern society, upon seeing two groups of ancient armies, each numbering in the thousands, within a hundred meters on either side, and looking fiercely aggressive, would likely be scared out of their wits. The only thing they could do to comfort themselves would be to find a place to hide, just as He Ping shouted:
"Damn, are they filming a movie?"
Of course, He Ping knew this wasn't a movie set. He hadn't seen any crew members or camera equipment. Although he hadn't personally directed a film, he had been to real film sets and knew that they weren't as glamorous as depicted in movies. The scene before him was definitely not a film set but rather a scene from a movie. The palpable aura of aggression from the thousands of people on both sides made He Ping realize that something was seriously wrong.
Could he have traveled back in time? Could something he had only ever imagined actually happen to him? He Ping was a bit puzzled. He took the opportunity to observe the people on both sides while they were watching him. On the left, the people all had Asian features, similar to his own. On the right, the people had distinct European features. This made He Ping pause. Something was definitely off!
On the Asian side, the armor included Ming light armor, ring mail, and lamellar armor. The overall style of the armor was similar to that of ancient China, but upon closer inspection, the armor from different historical periods could be seen. From the Han, Tang, Five Dynasties, and Ming dynasties, various armor characteristics were present. The weapons were also from different eras, ranging from the Qin to the Ming.
On the European side, the armor included plate, chain, and scale mail. The armor and weapons also showed characteristics from different periods, such as the Crusades, the Renaissance, and the Age of Exploration. These features appearing in the same army left He Ping very perplexed. If this were a movie, he could blame the director's poor skills, but if he had really traveled through time, when exactly had he arrived?
"Hello everyone! The weather is really nice today, perfect for a battle!" He Ping couldn't bear the oppressive aura from both sides, so he greeted them, hoping to ease the tension. Perhaps because he looked similar to them, the Asians didn't react aggressively, but an arrow flew from the European side, aiming straight for He Ping's face.
"Damn, they're attacking without warning!" He Ping was genuinely surprised. He hadn't expected a sudden attack. To him, he was just a small mouse to the thousands of people on both sides. They had only stopped to observe his sudden appearance, and it wasn't necessary to target him specifically. After all, with so many people, they could easily trample him to death.
However, in the critical moment, He Ping's potential was unleashed. He had already felt clear-minded and incredibly strong. When attacked, he instinctively tilted his head to dodge the arrow and, in the split second when the arrow passed by, he grabbed it and held it in his hand. Then, in a fit of anger, He Ping decided to retaliate and threw the arrow back in the direction it came from.
To be honest, He Ping didn't think that a hand-thrown arrow would have any lethal power; he was just venting his frustration. He wanted to throw the arrow at the Europeans to show his displeasure. But after the arrow left his hand, he realized something was wrong. The immense strength combined with precise control allowed him to throw the arrow back at an extremely high speed. With a scream, a longbowman from the European side fell to the ground, struggling for a moment before lying still.
Seeing this, the Europeans immediately went on high alert. The front-line heavy infantry raised their kite shields and long swords, the pikemen behind them aimed their spears at He Ping, the cavalry raised their lances, and the longbowmen drew their bows, ready to attack at a moment's notice. Dodging arrows wasn't difficult, but catching a flying arrow with bare hands was not something an ordinary person could do. Throwing an arrow to kill someone was even more unheard of.
The Asians were in a similar state. They were surprised by He Ping's strength and reaction. Not knowing his true capabilities, they also went on alert. The front-line heavy infantry raised their swallow-tail shields and sabers, the pikemen behind them leveled their spears, the cavalry raised their lances, and the archers and crossbowmen loaded their weapons.
In this tense situation, He Ping was completely unaware, as his mind was focused on one thought—killing someone!
He Ping had never killed anyone, not even a chicken. When buying fresh ingredients, he always had the vendors prepare them for him before taking them home. The most he had done in terms of taking life was stepping on a few ants and swatting a few flies. Now, he had skipped the middle steps and directly killed someone! Even someone as calm as He Ping couldn't maintain his composure.
"Killed someone! Killed someone! Killed someone! What should I do? What should I do? What should I do? This is bad! This is bad! This is bad!" He Ping's mental state was becoming increasingly unstable. His eyes gradually lost their luster, and if you listened closely, you could hear him muttering incomprehensible words. His body was trembling, his breathing was rapid, and his heart rate and blood pressure were rising. If this continued, he might lose himself!
Suddenly, the scene before He Ping changed completely, and his nearly shattered self gradually recovered. PS: After multiple revisions, the new book is finally out! I'm in tears at this moment. During the new book period, I have nothing but the support of my readers. Even though it's only the second chapter, I hope everyone will click, recommend, and collect the book!
