At this moment, Yu Hongbo walked over.
"We haven't cast the net all day, the guys want to drag a net," Yu Hongbo said.
Ye Yuan felt that these crew members were more concerned about the catch than he, the boss, was. He hadn't done much, but the crew members were already restless.
"Alright, let's drag a net then."
Ye Yuan had no intention of stopping everyone. Although there weren't many fish here, it wasn't as if there were none at all. Ye Yuan was too lazy to use his perception to investigate every time.
Going out to sea once, he only needed to investigate a few times occasionally.
If every time resulted in a bountiful harvest, it wouldn't just be impressive; it would be bizarre.
After more than an hour of dragging, Yu Hongbo ordered the net to be hauled in.
Now, Ye Yuan only took command when he encountered rare marine goods; he left the rest to Yu Hongbo.
As the catch left the water, Ye Yuan noticed that the haul wasn't as meager as he had imagined, but it wasn't abundant either, only about three to four hundred pounds. In Ye Yuan's view, this was already quite unsatisfactory.
As the catch was placed on the deck, the crew members gathered around to sort it out.
Ye Yuan didn't go over to look; he just glanced and noticed that the catch was very mixed, indicating that there was no large fish school here.
Usually, in a fish school, various types of fish would be mixed, but one type would still dominate. The current situation, where all kinds of fish were present, could only mean that there was no fish school, just scattered fish being caught.
Just as Ye Yuan was about to turn to feed "Class Leader,"
"Class Leader" was the name the crew members had given to the spotted seal.
At first, Ye Yuan was speechless, but as everyone called it that, the seal seemed to accept the name, so Ye Yuan also called it that.
"Boss, come and take a look, what kind of shrimp is this?" a crew member called out to Ye Yuan.
"Huh!"
Ye Yuan looked at the shrimp in the crew member's hand, about 20 cm long, entirely red, with scattered white spots on the side of the carapace.
Ye Yuan quickly walked over to the crew member, took the shrimp from him, and began to examine it carefully.
"Peony Shrimp"
This is a cold-water shrimp that has gradually gained recognition in the seafood market in recent years.
Due to its bright red color and sweet meat, it is very suitable for sashimi and is highly sought after in the market.
However, from a biological perspective, the shrimp referred to as "Peony Shrimp" in the market includes 2-3 different species.
Due to the different distribution areas and catch volumes of these species, there are price differences.
Although there is no significant difference in taste and nutrition between the different species of "Peony Shrimp," from a commercial standpoint, it is common for cheaper "Peony Shrimp" to be passed off as more expensive ones, similar to how rainbow trout is sometimes passed off as Atlantic salmon.
Currently, the most common Peony Shrimp in the market are the High-Backed Long-Clawed Shrimp and the Broad-Angle Long-Clawed Shrimp.
The High-Backed Long-Clawed Shrimp, also known as the Fukuyama Shrimp in some places, has two distinctive features: First, as the name suggests, the carapace and the base of the rostrum are highly arched, forming a clear upward curve, hence the name "High-Backed." Second, there are scattered white spots on the side of the carapace.
In contrast, the carapace and the base of the rostrum of the Broad-Angle Long-Clawed Shrimp are not as prominently arched or protruding.
Additionally, the carapace of the Broad-Angle Long-Clawed Shrimp has 2-3 white stripes on each side.
The abdomen of the High-Backed Long-Clawed Shrimp is relatively dark, with no white spots on the back, while the Broad-Angle Long-Clawed Shrimp has a pair of distinct white spots on the back of the first and fifth abdominal segments.
Ma Hua, seeing that Ye Yuan was staring at the shrimp for a long time without speaking, said,
"Boss, this shrimp must be expensive, right?"
Ye Yuan nodded: "This is definitely a good catch. This shrimp is called the Peony Shrimp, known as the king of sea shrimp. It is a naturally red prawn that is not easy to catch. Only about a thousand tons are caught globally each year. Do you think it's expensive?"
The crew members, upon hearing Ye Yuan's explanation, all stuck out their tongues and then lowered their heads to search for this shrimp in the catch.
"Our trawl nets have large mesh, allowing small fish to escape. How did this Peony Shrimp get in?"
Ye Yuan didn't know if he was asking the crew members or himself, muttering to himself.
"Who knows how it got in, as long as it's valuable," a crew member replied casually.
Ye Yuan didn't pay attention to this and immediately released his perception.
Surprisingly, he did discover a group of Peony Shrimp, about a few hundred pounds in size.
Ye Yuan immediately called out: "There should be this kind of shrimp down there. Quickly change to a smaller mesh trawl net and drag another net here."
The crew members finally reacted and quickly took action. Two crew members were left to handle the remaining mixed fish on the deck, while the others quickly began to work.
Soon, the trawl net was changed, and as the fishing boat moved forward, the net gradually slid into the sea.
Soon, Ye Yuan felt that the group of Peony Shrimp had entered the net. He didn't immediately haul the net but continued to drag it for about an hour before instructing the crew members to bring the net back on board.
As expected, a small batch of Peony Shrimp appeared on the deck, and the crew members swarmed over to select the live ones using buckets.
Ye Yuan also joined in, his goal being to secure a batch for his space, just like with the snow crabs.
When no one was paying attention, he placed a small batch of Peony Shrimp into his space and then stopped working.
The fishing boat continued to move forward, and Ye Yuan activated his perception to continue searching for marine goods in the sea, hoping to find some rare ones.
Ye Yuan actually enjoyed using his perception to observe the underwater world, which was full of interesting and beautiful things.
Like now, Ye Yuan saw several plate-sized crabs lifting their large claws to pry open the shell of a bivalve, sharing the delicious meat inside.
Who would have thought that the crabs, which are considered delicacies on dining tables, were so fierce underwater.
However, Ye Yuan had no intention of bringing these large crabs on board, as there were too few of them, and he already had snow crabs in his space. He believed that it wouldn't be long before the snow crabs in his space would grow in large numbers.
Speaking of the space, now that there were robots working inside, many fish had started to breed. Many of the marine creatures that Ye Yuan had previously placed in the space had already grown.
Ye Yuan was particularly pleased with the growth of a few valuable species, such as the single-headed abalone and the dog-claw snails he had caught in Nanlin Island, which had started to breed in the space.
Not only were there many of them, but the first batch he had placed in the space had already grown.
