For five solid days, we secluded ourselves on the 26th floor of the labyrinth for training. As a result, my bag is filled with a large number of marshland monsters. It’s probably impossible for Marie-san to distribute them all at once. I should divide them into smaller portions for wholesale.

“Phew, it’s calming to be outside again. Well then, let’s head back to the mansion.”

We talked as we returned to the mansion after being out of the labyrinth for five days.

“Everyone, you’ve all done well, so I’ll give you tomorrow off. However, since I’m not sure about the situation around here, please rest and refrain from going out.”

As long as they accompany Sylphy, their safety is assured, but with the new guild master’s arrival and until the Adventurers’ Guild establishes its policies, it’s best not to cause any trouble. Going out and being approached by merchants will only tire us. Sara and the others understand the situation, so they nodded without reluctance.

“Excuse me, are you Yuta-sama? I apologize for interrupting you suddenly. I am…”

An unfamiliar middle-aged man approached me out of the blue. He looks like a merchant and probably wants materials.

“Please wait a moment. I apologize for cutting you off, but I have no intention of engaging in negotiations at the moment. If you have any important matters aside from that, could you please go through the Porius Trading Company? If I accept even one negotiation, it will become uncontrollable, and I apologize for the inconvenience.”

I interrupted him and spoke quickly, then bowed slightly before swiftly leaving while he was still confused. Just as I thought it would be troublesome to be approached by a merchant, I got approached. Is this another flag? The flag collection is happening too quickly.

To avoid further conversations, I hurriedly returned to the mansion. Bell and the others seemed a little disappointed that they couldn’t go shopping at the stalls. Once things settle down, I’ll go on a stall-hopping adventure with them.

“Welcome back. I’m glad to see you’re safe.”

“I’m back.”

I greeted Sebas-san, and the children also greeted him. Bell and the others are saying “I’m back” too, but he can’t hear them. Well, I guess they understand that and are saying it anyway.

Sebas-san responded with a smile to the greetings from the children. He seems completely smitten by the charm of my proud disciples!

“Oh, Sebas-san, could you contact Marie-san for me? Let her know that I’ve obtained a large quantity of materials from the marshlands.”

“I understand. With that information, I believe the materials will be immediately moved to the warehouse. Is that acceptable?”

“Yes, let the children rest, and I’ll go alone, so there won’t be any issues.”

Sebas-san seemed concerned about Sara and the others, so I preemptively answered. He nodded and spoke to one of the servants, who quickly ran off. It seems I’ll be moving quickly too.

Returning to my room, I drank the tea that had been prepared for me and relaxed. Then, Sebas-san came to call me. He arrived even faster than I expected. I summoned Dolly and had her accompany the children as a precaution. Although it’s relatively safe inside the mansion, children are still easy targets, so I should be cautious.

Also, Bell and the others will be staying behind. It’s better for them to have fun with Sara and the others than to be bored with boring business discussions. I feel sorry for Sylphy, who always accompanies them, but I’ll make sure to prepare plenty of alcohol for her, so she should forgive me.

“Well then, rest properly while I’m gone. You’ve worked hard for five days, so even if your bodies are fine, your minds might be tired.”

After giving them a simple reminder, I left the mansion under Sebas-san’s guidance. A carriage was waiting in front of the entrance, and Marie-san was waving from inside. Marie-san is quick to act too. I got into the carriage and we departed.

“I apologize for having you move immediately upon your return.”

“Oh, don’t worry. Normally, adventurers would go through the Adventurers’ Guild for procedures after coming out of the labyrinth. If I can be picked up by a carriage, it’s quite luxurious, you know.”

Giant Deer isn’t as rare as Magic Grass or All-Purpose Grass, but adventurers who possess a magic bag are scarce. And according to what was said during dinner, Giant Deer in good condition is difficult to obtain. Marie-san seems really motivated.

“So, Yuta-san, you mentioned a large quantity, but how much exactly?”

Hmm, let’s see. I transferred the ones I obtained into the magic bag…

“They’re all intact. I brought back two Giant Deer, two Giant Toads, plenty of Poison Toads, and ten Marsh Lizards.”

It seems there’s quite a demand for Poison Toads. I thought of using them as weapons in warfare, utilizing their poison, but apparently, pharmacists can process them into energizing agents. Vitality derived from frog poison… sounds risky.

“You brought them all back as a whole?”

“Well, I haven’t really disassembled them before, so I’ve only decapitated them and left them mostly intact. Is that a problem?”

“Oh no, not at all. It’s highly welcomed since we can obtain parts that are normally hard to come by.”

“Well, that’s good to hear.”

After saying that, Marie-san started contemplating with a serious expression. From the murmurs I could catch, it seemed she was considering contacting her father and… as the day was almost over, she would also need to send someone to the Pharmacist Guild. It seemed like a lot of work.

Considering the fact that she’s contacting the pharmacy guild, it’s probably related to the Poison Toads. There must be a process to convert the poison into medicine, and with a large number of Poison Toads involved, she intends to involve the Pharmacist Guild.

“Now, I’ll take care of the Giant Deer, please.”

Just like when I wholesaled the Fire Dragon last time, it seems the warehouse has already been cleared. There’s no need to hide it since it was exposed at the Adventurers’ Guild, but it’s more convenient to have restrictions than having the information circulate freely, so let’s just keep quiet about it.

“Understood.”

I line up the two Giant Deer in the spacious warehouse with a loud thud. Even with two of them, there’s still plenty of room in the warehouse, which is the size of a two-story house. I’m amazed again at the size of the warehouse. What on earth is the purpose of needing such a large warehouse?

I had a slight doubt, but Marie-san is busy running around the Giant Deer, checking the condition of the materials from various angles. She seems busy, so I’ll save my questions for another time.

“Yuta-san, they’re in very good condition.”

Unlike with the Fire Dragon, Marie-san seems happy but composed this time. While it’s rare for Giant Deer to be delivered in its entirety, the materials are somewhat circulated, even if they are considered rare. That’s why she’s able to keep a level head.

Compared to when she got carried away toward the end with the Fire Dragon, I feel more at ease with Marie-san being like this.

“I’m glad you’re pleased. What do we do next?”

“Oh, right. In this section, please place the Giant Toads and Poison Toads, and next to them, the Marsh Lizards.”

I take out the monsters from the magic bag as instructed. When I empty out all the Poison Toads, they pile up like a small mountain. Maybe I brought a bit too many.

“That’s everything. Is the quantity alright?”

“It’s fine. Disassembling them is a lot of work, but the profits are guaranteed, so I’ll give it my all.”

She casually emitted a hint of a black aura.

“Just don’t push yourself too hard. Please apologize to the staff for the trouble caused.”

There’s no need for me to apologize, but I can’t help feeling sorry for the staff who will have to work at full capacity because of me.

“Hehe, the staff will be happy, so there’s no problem. In case of emergencies, they receive special bonuses, so they’re grateful.”

Well, that’s a relief. But special bonuses… I thought the trading company in this other world would work the staff like horses, but it seems they’re quite well taken care of.

Since Marie-san will be staying here to give instructions, I return to the mansion in the carriage I came with.

———–

The day after I wholesaled the materials to Marie-san and came back, I spend my day off in my room, enjoying a relaxed time with Bell and the others. Just as I was lounging around, Sebas-san arrived.

“Yuta-sama, a messenger from the Adventurers’ Guild has come. They’ve reached a conclusion and would like to meet with you again. What would you like to do?”

Huh? It hasn’t even been a week since the last discussion, and they’re already requesting another meeting. I thought it would take a bit more time after Silphy mentioned sending a messenger to the capital, but it seems they’re in quite a hurry. Maybe my comment about considering other offers had an impact. Well, it’s better to be quick, so it’s a good thing.

“Understood. Shall I inform them that I will visit them tomorrow afternoon? Oh, um, in a situation like this, is it customary for me to meet them in person?”

I wonder how it is in Japan? Generally, it’s safer for the person involved to attend, but since I hold a higher position, it might be different. There are cases where it’s not appropriate to meet lightly. I don’t recall being in a strong position in Japan, so I’m not sure, but I do remember that it was difficult to meet with government officials or people in high positions.

“No, in this case, it is sufficient for us to convey the message. If it were known that Yuta-sama is easily accessible, people would flood in.”

I see. It would be pointless for me to go out when I am intentionally avoiding meetings with them to avoid trouble.

“Understood. In that case, please take care of it. I appreciate your help.”

“I understand.”

Sebas-san bowed and left.

“Sylphy, is the capital city close to here?”

Come to think of it, I don’t know much about this country.

“Well, it takes about seven days on foot, I think. If you’re on horseback, you can make it in two days if you hurry.”

Hmm? … It’s a rather ambiguous distance. Considering the underdeveloped infrastructure, it might be considered close.

“I see. Sylphy, sorry to ask, but could you check on the situation at the Adventurers’ Guild? I don’t think there’s anything, but I want to be prepared in case there’s an assassination order or something coming from the capital.”

Well, I think I’ll be fine since they would need to bring two parties and defeat the Fire Dragon to try to kill me, but it’s important to be cautious.

“Sure, I understand. I’ll go and find out. It would be great if something interesting happened.”

Leaving those slightly ominous words behind, Sylphy flew off. It’s clear even from here, but she’s intentionally going to the Adventurers’ Guild, fully expecting some kind of trouble. I hope she doesn’t mention anything about potential flags being raised.
