Adventurer Registration
————————————
T/N: Hey guys, sorry for not posting, my laptop broke, literally and it was beyond repair so I had to get a new one which took me sometime to select. I will be uploading at least 5 chapters this week.
————————
After discussing with Marie, we moved to the warehouse to unload the monsters. The children were amazed by the Fire Dragon, and Marie was fixated on the magical bag. Overall, things were progressing smoothly without any major issues.
“Yuta, how much of the FireBird can you unload? What’s the condition of the Magma Fish?”
The Fire Bird seems to be more popular than I expected. I heard it was a B-ranked monster…
When I asked for the reason, it turns out that they usually gather in groups, so even if it’s a B-ranked monster on its own, it’s difficult to deal with. And the materials are truly fitting for the FireBird’s name, with excellent fire resistance, making them highly in demand.
The condition of the Magma Fish is also good, and they explained the cooking method thoroughly. It seems difficult for me to handle it myself, so maybe I’ll leave the Magma Fish to Torque-san.
If I do that, should I secretly have it cooked… No, knowing Torque-san’s personality, he’ll probably go wild with joy once I give him the Magma Fish. If he gets too excited, it might draw attention from unexpected places, and I’ll have to endure until the Adventurer’s Guild finds out about me.
Feeling a bit disappointed, I unload the FireBird and a large amount of pepper into the warehouse. Now all the items scheduled for selling have been taken out.
There are still plenty of materials left, but it should be fine for now. If I unload too much, the prices might drop.
“Yuta, with this amount, it will take some time to determine the price. I estimate it will be around 1.8 billion, is that alright?”
1.8 billion… The digits are so large that it’s hard to grasp. Am I a billionaire or something?
“Yes, that’s not a problem. Ah, we’ll be leaving Labyrinth City tomorrow and won’t be back for more than ten days, so it’s fine to settle the payment then. However, I would like to have some of the Fire Dragon, Assault Dragon, and Wyvern meat for tomorrow’s meal, so it would be helpful if you could have the consumable parts processed by tomorrow.”
“Understood. We will prepare the meat by tomorrow afternoon. We will also have the payment for the materials ready by the time you return. By the way, may I ask where you’ll be going?”
“The location is a secret. We’re just going to a place where it’s easier to train the kids. Labyrinth City isn’t very comfortable for me and them.”
Marie smiled wryly, perhaps recalling the relationship between me and the Adventurer’s Guild.
“Alright then. I’ll take my leave soon. Oh, Marie, if possible, could you delay the distribution of the materials until after tomorrow? It would be troublesome if it caused a commotion and got revealed too early.”
“I see. It takes time to process the materials, so there’s no problem.”
“Thank you very much.”
After parting ways with Marie in front of the warehouse, I headed to have lunch with Sara and the others. As we said our goodbyes, Marie muttered something eerie like, “I won’t be able to sleep for a while.” It was quite unsettling.
“Master is strong, huh?”
Marco asked me. If I’m not mistaken, I can sense a sense of respect in his gaze. Maybe he’s starting to trust me a little?
“It’s not that I’m strong, it’s thanks to the spirits I have contracted with.”
“I see. Spirit magic is powerful, huh?”
He nodded as if confirming something, then muttered to himself, “I’ll do my best.” It seems like he’s getting motivated, which is a good sign. Sara and Kika are a bit withdrawn, but I hope Marco will take the lead.
I considered entering a restaurant for lunch, but Sara and the others were fixated on the food stalls, so we decided to have a casual meal there.
I heard that there are kind people who share leftovers from food stalls and restaurants, and for Sara and the others, the food stalls are like a special treat that they can occasionally enjoy.
Watching the children wholeheartedly devour the food from the stalls warms my heart a little, but there’s a high proportion of children and small animals, including spirits around me. I’d prefer to be surrounded by beautiful women, but it’s not going so well.
After finishing our snack, we went to Axe-san’s weapon shop and purchased sturdy robes and durable shoes for Sara and the others to wear in the forest. I considered buying weapons as well, but I decided against it. It’s too scary to give weapons to children when I can’t even teach them how to use them.
It seems that there are people who travel with children, so I’m grateful that they had shoes in children’s sizes. Axe-san also made some adjustments to the robes. It was delicate and quick work that you wouldn’t expect from someone with such a muscular and macho appearance.
Marco was captivated by the armor and swords, but I reminded him with a firm voice that his priority should be becoming a full-fledged spirit magician. I won’t be teaching him close combat.
With permission from Axe-san, I had Sara and the others change their clothes in a corner of the shop. They put on the clothes and robes we bought from the general store and changed into the armor. Well, they’re still quite skinny, but they look much better now. I just need to tidy up their messy hair.
“Thank you, Master.” “Thank you very much, Master.”
When I left the store, three people thanked me. I could only faintly hear her voices in a low whisper, but it was good to hear Kika’s voice. She quickly hid behind Marco’s shadow.
“You’re welcome. Now, let’s move on.”
I went to the furniture store to pick up the bed I had ordered. It turned out really nice, and it seems like my attention to detail paid off. I’m looking forward to sleeping on it. I also placed an order for Sara and the others’ beds, but they won’t be ready immediately, so I decided to pick them up the next time we come to Labyrinth City.
When I asked about bedding that I could get right away, they mentioned straw beds. In a way, it’s a bed I’ve always admired. I’m a little curious about how comfortable it actually is. Since they can make it quickly, I had them make one for me.
After picking up the bed, I bought ale and wine in barrels at the liquor store. Three barrels of ale and three barrels each of red and white wine, totaling nine barrels. With this much, it should last us for a while. Silphy was also relieved and had a smile on her face.
“Now that we’re almost done with our shopping, Sara, Marco, let’s go register as an adventurer. I might face some unpleasant looks at the Adventurers’ Guild since I’m not well-liked there, but bear with it.”
They looked extremely worried. Well, it’s tough being a disliked master, isn’t it? I’m sorry for being such a pathetic master. It’s unfortunate, but they’ll have to accept it.
————————-
As I entered the Adventurers’ Guild, I felt the unpleasant gazes directed at me. Sara and the others also sensed the atmosphere and became timid.
I felt like causing a scene, but that would ruin everything, so I endured it and headed towards Eltina’s place. She was still as expressionless as ever.
“Hello. I’d like to register these children. Their occupation is Spirit Mage.”
There’s no point in worrying about it too much, so I simply stated our business.
‘Thud’! Eltina suddenly slammed her hand on the desk and stood up. Her face was filled with anger.
“You! Just because you can’t form a party, what were you thinking, involving children?”
It’s a valid argument, and I can’t really argue with it. However, it’s also frustrating to be blamed when the Adventurers’ Guild is partly responsible.
“I understand your concerns, but these children are already convinced, so please proceed with the registration. As long as they haven’t committed any crimes, the Guild doesn’t reject those who come, right?”
“Do you all truly agree? Let me advise you. It would be best to stop following this person. His reputation is poor.”
I’m being dissed in such a casual manner. It was the Adventurers’ Guild that spread those bad rumors. Can I lose my temper?
“I am aware that my master has a bad reputation. I also have concerns about bringing my sister along.”
Huh? I thought I had earned a bit of respect, but things are taking a questionable turn.
“In that case, you should stop.” Said Eltina
“In that case, would you come and rescue us from the slums?” Marco asked.
“Um, well…”
If suddenly asked whether I can shoulder the burden of his sister’s life, I can’t give an answer. But Marco, if you were told to take care of her, would you go?
“If you have no intention of doing so, it’s none of your business. After all, it was master who extended a helping hand. We will follow our master.”
Uh-oh. I feel like crying. And Marco… He’s emitting some sort of protagonist aura. Compared to me, who’s been dirtied, he looks so radiant.
“…”
“Um, as I said, please proceed with the registration.”
I received a sharp glare. This is when the word “unjust” is appropriate. While asking Sara and the others questions, Eltina scribbles on the documents with frustration. She must be really dissatisfied.
After completing the procedures and paying the registration fee, they were handed Guild cards. Speaking of which, I’m also F-rank, so we’re all lined up together. Perhaps it poses a problem to my dignity.
“Eltina-san, please handle the necessary procedures for the party. Register it under the name ‘Strongest Spirit Magicians’,” I requested.
Eltina’s forehead twitched, displaying a vein that differentiated her beauty. I might have provoked her a bit too much, but it was a declaration of determination. If we become famous, the value of spirit magicians will naturally rise. I have to be careful not to gain a bad reputation.
Since coming to Labyrinth City, I’ve been running in a completely different direction from my initial goal. But now it’s too late to stop. Eltina, who couldn’t maintain her emotionless facade due to her pent-up anger, handled the party registration, and we left the adventurers’ guild.
“It seems like I’m really disliked as a master,” I sighed.
“Yeah, it’s true. There were various reasons, but you ended up being hated to that extent,” Sara replied.
Taking Sara and the others with me this time further lowered my reputation, so my standing in the adventurers’ guild is at rock bottom. I thought it couldn’t get any worse, but it was surprising to see it sink even further. Well, I’ve dragged everyone around a lot today, so Sara and the others must be tired. I should quickly return to the inn and let them rest.
——————–
“Martha-san, we’re back. These kids—” I started, but my words were interrupted.
As soon as Martha-san called out, heavy footsteps approached. It must be Torque.
“Oh, customers! Welcome back. That dish was amazing. It quickly became popular among both Martha and Kaluk. Hey, you! You’re back!” Torque exclaimed.
He patted my shoulder roughly and praised the recipe. It feels like my shoulder is about to break, but if this recipe can make up for the trouble I caused, it’ll be a relief.
“I’m glad it turned out well. I was worried because I didn’t remember the exact measurements, but did it work out?” I asked.
“Yeah, it’s still in the experimental stage, but it’s working to some extent. You’re leaving tomorrow, right? I’ll make sure to serve the requested dishes, so don’t worry,” Torque replied.
“Thank you, I appreciate it. But please don’t push yourself too hard,” I said.
“Hahaha, don’t worry. I’ll be fine. Well, see you later,” Torque said before leaving.
He only said that and went away… I hope he’ll be okay since it seems like he relies on pulling all-nighters. After all, he’s the strong-armed Torque.
I wonder what the menu for tonight will be. I’m starting to look forward to it.
