Chapter 11

Could it be a deliberate trap? Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed, hoping he was overthinking it.

After the incident with Kang Dafeng, everyone’s nerves were even more on edge.

A day later, the convoy stopped beside an abandoned toll station, and their mission began. This section of the line was damaged and needed to be repaired.

“Report, a battle was discovered five miles away. Five Evolvers are being besieged by mutated beasts,” a soldier reported.

Lu Yin ordered them to be rescued.

Half an hour later, the five Evolvers were brought in, all of them in a sorry state, their clothes tattered, and they looked hungry.

Lu Yin did not have them given food. Those who dared to come out into the wild to hunt mutated beasts should be prepared for death. Lu Yin was not a saint, and the food in the army was not free. If it came to it, the mutated rats could be eaten.

The five Evolvers were isolated outside the toll station, watching enviously as the army fired. Soon, one of the Evolvers requested to see Lu Yin.

Lu Yin stood on the roof of the toll station, looking around.

Below, the Evolver, with a pale face, said, "Sir, could you give us some food? We can trade for information."

Lu Yin looked at the Evolver, "Speak."

"Will you give us food if I speak?" the Evolver asked hopefully.

Lu Yin said coldly, "Are you bargaining with me?"

The Evolver’s face changed, and he said fearfully, "No, no," and continued, "Actually, we brought enough food, but it was stolen yesterday by a Heaven-level strong person in silver-white armor."

Lu Yin’s eyes flashed, "Continue."

The Evolver swallowed, his throat dry, but he continued, "We only have one Heaven-level strong person around Jinling, Lord Xing Sheng Zhou Shan. But that person can fly, I guess because of the armor. After stealing our food, he was going to kill us to silence us, but he seemed to be talking to himself and excitedly flew east."

Lu Yin knew these people had encountered Ordan. Talking to himself? It must be personal terminal communication. Could he have contacted other students who landed? This is not good. Zhou Shan had a hard time repelling Ordan, and if other students joined in, Zhou Shan might not hold out.

"Give them some food," Lu Yin ordered, then sat down, gazing at the sky.

What am I worried about? Jinling? Or those survivors? I am always an outsider, not a native of Earth. In truth, I am no different from those in Astar, but living on Earth has gradually made me accept this new identity.

I only have two and a half years of memory, with the rest blank. In those two and a half years, most of my memories are of Earth. Earth can be considered my home.

Lu Yin took a deep breath. Unfortunately, I am not an absolute strong person, so I cannot save Earth, but I can save some people within my capabilities.

Thinking about this, Lu Yin connected with Zhou Shan’s communicator and told him his suspicions about Ordan.

Zhou Shan said solemnly, "I understand. Repair the line as soon as possible. I need to know how the others are doing. Those students are not simple."

Lu Yin hung up the communicator. Others? The other six saints?

"I hope Liu Shaoge doesn’t die, otherwise, who will I take revenge on?" Lu Yin muttered coldly.

That night, the sky was covered by dark clouds, with no stars visible.

Lu Yin was quite disappointed and slept in the armored vehicle.

In the middle of the night, a scream woke everyone up.

"Boss, zombie tide, zombie tide detected," Xu San shouted anxiously.

Lu Yin stepped out of the armored vehicle and jumped onto the roof of the toll station. On the dark ground, countless wandering zombies approached from all directions.

"Everyone, activate your defenses immediately and throw burning objects," Luo Yun shouted.

Soon, the zombie tide began to impact the toll station. The ground was set ablaze, and numerous burning objects were thrown, creating a wave of heat.

"Be careful, don’t let the flames get close to the toll station, or you’ll all be burned," Luo Yun shouted.

Machine guns fired in all directions, and the once silent night was filled with deafening sounds.

Nearly ten thousand soldiers were on the outer perimeter, slaughtering zombies. Machine gun bullets and steel blades were used, and soldiers were occasionally scratched or dragged into the zombie crowd, disappearing in an instant. The five rescued Evolvers were shocked by the scene, as the intensity of the army’s combat far exceeded their imagination.

Luo Yun wielded a steel blade, and a Heaven-level strong person was not comparable to ordinary Evolvers. One strike could tear apart dozens of zombies. Though she was a bit timid, she fought bravely.

Lu Yin also wielded an iron rod and charged into the zombie crowd, sweeping a wide area with each strike.

The best way to deal with a zombie tide is with thermal weapons, but unfortunately, Jinling had too few thermal weapons left. If the weapon depots hadn’t been destroyed, missiles could have wiped out the zombies in large numbers.

Lu Yin was slaughtering zombies when his walkie-talkie crackled with a panicked voice, "Boss, the southwest is about to collapse."

Lu Yin was startled and leaped up, stepping on zombie heads and rushing to the southwest. Indeed, countless soldiers were being slaughtered. What was happening?

"Boss, there’s a strange zombie that’s very powerful. Even a Human-level captain can’t stop it," Xu San reported, standing on a high vantage point.

Lu Yin landed and aimed at the intersection of soldiers and zombies, striking down with his iron rod. A visible slash cut through the air, splitting the ground and killing dozens of zombies, creating a clear boundary.

Inside the boundary, countless soldiers retreated, fearfully looking at the front. Just now, at least fifty of them had died.

With a bang, Lu Yin’s iron rod broke in half.

As his strength increased, the iron rod could no longer withstand his strikes.

"Be careful, Commander," someone shouted.

All around, a sea of zombies surged, their numbers countless, at least ten thousand, covering the hills and valleys.

Lu Yin’s Tianxing Gong activated, and star energy formed a wave, clearing a ten-meter radius. All zombies were pushed back, except for one long-haired zombie that withstood the energy and stared at Lu Yin.

"Boss, it’s him. He’s killed many soldiers," Xu San’s voice came from the walkie-talkie.

Lu Yin was surprised by the zombie in front of him. This was not an ordinary zombie. This zombie had intelligence.

A zombie with intelligence, a tall tale, but it had indeed happened.

Lu Yin was surprised by the zombie, no more than two meters away. Its red eyes did not look vacant but thoughtful. This zombie was thinking.

Before Lu Yin could think more, the long-haired zombie charged, claws extended, aiming for Lu Yin.

Lu Yin dodged, and the claw wind sliced through, tearing apart zombies ten meters away.

The zombie’s strength was at the Earth level, far surpassing Kang Dafeng and Luo Yun, comparable to Zhao Yu.

Lu Yin closely watched the long-haired zombie’s attack pattern, which was methodical, chaotic yet impenetrable. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, Lu Yin would never have believed he was being attacked by a zombie.

After several failed attacks, the long-haired zombie growled, turned, and fled.

Lu Yin noticed the white threads on the long-haired zombie’s back. Were these spider silk? Suddenly, Lu Yin remembered his earlier guess. This zombie had lured Kang Dafeng to that building. This zombie definitely had intelligence.

Lu Yin didn’t have time to think more and threw the broken iron rod, piercing the long-haired zombie’s abdomen. The long-haired zombie roared, looked back at Lu Yin, and fled south.

The surrounding zombie tide suddenly roared, as if stimulated, blocking Lu Yin’s path.

"Xu San, tell me the position of that zombie," Lu Yin shouted.

Xu San’s voice came from the walkie-talkie, "Boss, he turned a hundred meters away and is fleeing west, the way we came."

Lu Yin’s leg muscles tensed, and he disappeared, leaving a trail of afterimages that were quickly overwhelmed by the zombies.

Xu San watched in awe. Was this a combat technique? It was incredible.

Lu Yin charged out of the zombie tide, following the path they had taken, but the long-haired zombie was nowhere to be found.

"Boss, I can’t see it," Xu San said.

Lu Yin stopped, facing the toll station, and took out his personal terminal to test combat strength. The terminal flashed, showing several combat strengths nearby, all from surrounding mutated beasts. However, one was very powerful, 990, at the peak of the Earth level, definitely the long-haired zombie.

Lu Yin followed the direction indicated by the personal terminal. If he could eliminate the long-haired zombie, the zombie tide should end. If his guess was correct, the long-haired zombie was the zombie king, commanding the tide and targeting his army, with Kang Dafeng being the first.
