Chapter 50

An Mei returned to the dormitory. She was still inclined towards Ye Zisu, as Meng Tian was too cold and aloof. Although he wasn't bad at heart, he wasn't very sociable.
This Wang Zheng, he's quite the womanizer, to have a girlfriend without anyone knowing.
When An Mei mentioned this, Ye Zisu appeared calm on the surface, but inside, she found it hard to believe. She knew Wang Zheng quite well; during high school, no one paid much attention to him, and he spent the summer interning at OMG. When did he have time to meet girls?
Moreover, Wang Zheng was the type who warms up slowly. Suddenly having a girlfriend was hard for her to believe.
An Mei noticed Ye Zisu's doubt. "Zisu, I tested her. She's very capable, almost flawless. You need to be careful."
"I don't believe it. With our Zisu's conditions, she could easily outshine any rival. Does she have three heads and six arms?"
Du Qingqing said, finding it strange that two girls in the dorm were interested in Wang Zheng. He wasn't unattractive, but he wasn't outstanding either. She wondered what made him so appealing to two girls with such different styles.
Even though he performed well during military training, what did that mean? Now, he has a so-called flawless girlfriend?
"By the way, our club president is urging us. What's going on with him? Is he going to back out on his promise?"
Du Qingqing suddenly said, winking at Ye Zisu.
Ye Zisu understood; this was a good excuse.
"Zisu, I support you. Even if there's a conflict, it's an internal issue. We can't let outsiders take our resources!"
An Mei clenched her fist. "Tu Su is our inside man. I'll get useful information from him."
Ye Zisu bit her lip. "I'm counting on you."
An Mei and Du Qingqing exchanged glances, surprised. Ye Zisu was outwardly gentle but inwardly proud. For her to admit this, especially when the other person didn't feel the same, was almost like a dream.
Aina was a transfer student. She didn't come here just for romance; she had her own courses, some of which overlapped with Wang Zheng's, like Professor Xiao Fei's class. Xiao Fei was a top expert internationally.
They had exchanged schedules yesterday, and they had a theory class together today.
Wang Zheng stood early, listening to music as he waited for Aina.
"Do you like Echo's songs too?" Aina smiled, sitting next to Wang Zheng.
Wang Zheng took off his headphones. "This new song is great, it has a powerful feel. I like energetic songs."
Aina smiled slightly. "She must be proud to use your battle in the MV, right?"
Wang Zheng held Aina's hand, staring at his little princess with intense eyes. "You know what I'm most proud of."
Aina blushed; this guy was getting worse.
The bell rang, and a new teacher walked in, heading straight to the podium.
"Hello everyone, I'm your substitute teacher, Professor Marcus."
Marcus scanned the room, and the students started murmuring. Professor Marcus was a top mathematician who usually didn't teach freshmen. What was going on this year? Dr. Xiao Fei was teaching large classes, and Dr. Marcus was taking on freshmen.
But it was a blessing for the students.
"You all know that mathematics is the foundation of science. The universe can be expressed through beautiful numbers, like 521 for love."
Marcus quickly earned applause.
The better the teacher, the more exceptional their skills. They possessed vast knowledge but could guide students into complex worlds in simple ways, fostering imagination.
Marcus had no choice. The student he was looking for hadn't been found. Dr. Xiao Fei didn't know anything, but Marcus felt she was hiding something. Regardless, since the student was from this school and a freshman, there were ways to find him. So he took on some large classes, hoping to discover something. He had no results so far, and if this continued, he would have to give up in a month, as his research was time-consuming.
Aina was very serious in class. She had already mastered what Marcus was teaching. Aslan's elite education started at age three, far beyond the average. However, she could tell Marcus was skilled.
As one of the three major traditional academies on Earth, the level wasn't as poor as imagined. Knowledge inheritance was one thing, but innovation was another. Without innovation, progress was hard.
Marcus finished the first part of the lecture and paused. "Thinking must be flexible, and you must be bold in trying. Here's a solution to the Malaga Conjecture. You've likely studied it. The first step is this. Who can understand it?"
Marcus wrote a complex equation on the board.
Wang Zheng was just looking at Aina, who rolled her eyes. "Pay attention to the class. What's so interesting about me?"
"Shishi, are you saying the old man on stage is more interesting than you?"
He held Aina's hand again, and she let him after a slight struggle.
The classroom was quiet. Although they were elites from all over, this equation was beyond their level.
Aina understood the equation but didn't want to show off.
A short-haired boy stood up. "Professor, does this equation mean using Rodriguez's theory as a basis for calculation and analysis..."
The boy enjoyed the attention, hoping the girl in front would turn around.
Marcus nodded. "What's your name?"
"Landry Busey."
The boy said proudly, and the class murmured, all eyes on him. Landry Busey, a math prodigy, was one of the top ten new stars in the solar system, famous for perfecting the Moore theory in high school.
At Ares Academy, he found Marcus didn't teach freshmen.
But he would make Marcus notice him, as a diamond's shine can't be hidden.
While he spoke, Wang Zheng was whispering to the beautiful girl, completely ignoring him.
This guy, supposedly from the physics department, wanted to enter the mecha department's special training but was kicked out. He had no shame and was still so content.
"Very good, Busey." Marcus gestured for Landry to sit. This guy had potential; he had heard of Landry Busey, a student with great ideas and talent.
But Busey didn't sit. He looked at the front row. "Professor Marcus, I heard we have a special physics prodigy, highly praised by Dr. Xiao Fei, who even debates with her in class. Math and physics are closely linked. I'd like to hear his thoughts on this equation."
"Oh?" Marcus looked at the front. "This student is?"
"Classmate Wang Zheng, what do you think of the first step of the Malaga Conjecture?"
Busey named him directly.
The students were immediately excited. Wang Zheng didn't realize he had become a target. Being praised by Dr. Xiao Fei in the physics department already made him unpopular, and Aina's appearance only fueled the fire.
In this era, pursuing someone was direct. With a goal, you had to score, as long as it was valuable.
Wang Zheng wasn't ignoring the class; he had known this theory for a long time, spending his boring childhood and high school years discussing numbers and theories with Old Jia. So he was a novice in socializing and pop culture.
Aina gently pushed him, whispering, "Say what I say, don't be afraid of him!"
Everyone's eyes were on Wang Zheng, curious to see if his luck would continue.
Wang Zheng stood, looking at the equation on the board. After a minute, he said, "The first step of the Malaga Conjecture using Rodriguez's theory is excellent."
Laughter erupted. Wasn't this obvious? It was a world-renowned theory, no need for his praise.
Aina wanted to say something but held back. She recognized this smile from her father and aunt.
"But, the Malaga Conjecture is mainly used for spatial jumps to break through barriers. Using Rodriguez's theory is theoretically common but is being phased out in practice due to a 0.01% error, which is significant. As spatial precision increases, this method will be obsolete. The current solution is to use the Mire equation for the first step, reducing the error to 0.1%."
The classroom was silent. Busey's face showed disdain. Was this a joke? What Mire equation? He had never heard of it.
"Classmate Wang, is Mire a food? Have you eaten it? Has anyone here eaten it?"
Laughter erupted again.
But Marcus didn't laugh. He had his suspicions. "Wang Zheng, the Mire equation hasn't been practically verified and has some shortcomings."
"Professor, you said we should be bold. The Mire equation replacing Rodriguez's method is inevitable. At least the first step is complete. A good start is half the battle."
"Is that so? Then solve the first step." Marcus smiled.
Aina looked at Wang Zheng, also hearing about the Mire equation for the first time. The mainstream was still the Rodriguez method, used for decades in practice.
Everyone watched Wang Zheng. Talking was easy; he had to solve it.
Most expected him to say he couldn't, but Wang Zheng walked up to the board.
