"Hey, brother, I'm really sorry. It was a difficult situation. If you have any wishes, we'll definitely help you."
While Jiang Heng was lost in thought, a voice sounded in his ear. He turned around and saw Liu Wen, the leader of the other team, who had approached at some point.
Looking around, he saw a few people gathered around him, while others had gone off to do their own things. However, these people were scattered, trying to get close to different people.
Lock waved at Jiang Heng, "You guys chat for a bit, I'll go prepare some food."
Jiang Heng stretched out his hand, watching Lock leave, but he was soon surrounded by these people.
However, seeing their earnest expressions, Jiang Heng's eyes flickered, and he quickly said, "Can you tell me your purpose? I've never been far from home."
Jiang Heng put on an innocent look, not knowing how to act any more convincingly.
Liu Wen quickly lowered his voice, "Our mission this time is to find the Dragon Blood Orchid. It's said to be in the Ashen Valley. I'll tell you secretly, the capital of the Iron Wall Kingdom was attacked and cursed. Many people have already been affected. We're looking for the Dragon Blood Orchid to remove this curse."
Jiang Heng had no idea about the Dragon Blood Orchid or the curse.
But if these people weren't acting or crazy, it meant this world wasn't an ordinary one.
If there are special powers, that's great. It would be even better if I could learn them.
"But, what does your search have to do with me?" Jiang Heng remained calm. Since they thought he was a native, he would pretend to be one.
Building relationships and getting close, you can do it, and so can I.
"Without hiding anything, our team lacks a mage-type profession, which might cause some trouble. So, I wonder if you can help. Of course, if you can't help, it's fine; we'll take full responsibility," Liu Wen patted his chest, looking very reliable.
"Thank you so much. Actually, I don't know what you mean by a mage. My master knows some strange things that glow."
A few people exchanged glances, a glint of excitement in their eyes, "Hahaha, your master must be a great mage. As long as you work hard, you can become even greater. By the way, I'm Liu Wen, just call me Brother Liu."
Jiang Heng quickly replied, "Thank you so much, Brother Liu. Just call me Jerry."
The natives of this world seemed to have names similar to foreign ones. Revealing his real name could cause suspicion, so Jiang Heng decided to change his name.
"Brother Jerry, you've been isolated from the world, so you probably don't understand much. Let me explain."
Thus, the two, each with their own ulterior motives, quickly became like brothers.
On the other side, a few people who had finished their tasks gathered and said in unmodulated voices, "I don't know what Leader Liu is doing. That guy clearly knows nothing. What's the point of getting close to him?"
"Hmph, what do you know? That guy may look weak, but anyone living here must have a powerful mage backing them. If we can get mage-type items, it would be great. As everyone knows, mage-type professions get stronger later on, but without the knowledge, most people can't make use of it."
"Isn't it just about becoming a mage? It's simple, just find a magic book."
Another person sneered, "Hmph, it's simple, for any profession, just find a special item for that profession to change. But after changing, where do you learn your spells? A mage without spells is useless. That's why most people choose to be warriors."
"Alright, alright, stop arguing. It's just about choosing a profession. I think the Iron Wall Knight is good. When someone dies, we can find a shield. It has strong defense and high survivability."
Amidst their bickering, Jiang Heng learned a lot.
"I see. If there's a magic book, can you directly become a mage? Since mages are so strong, I should get a powerful profession." Jiang Heng didn't care about the difficulty of professions.
Or rather, he had never thought about such things.
"You guys, shut up," Liu Wen finally couldn't take it anymore.
Everyone finally closed their mouths. After a while, they turned on the translation function and started getting close to the other knights.
The knights were already familiar with these people who often spoke in their native language, so they didn't mind.
"Brother Liu, what are they saying? Why can't I understand?"
"Haha, that's our native language, different from yours," Liu Wen laughed.
Jiang Heng quickly followed up, "Where is Brother Liu's hometown? Is it fun?"
Liu Wen was a bit annoyed; this new brother had too many questions. It was understandable, given that he had lived in the forest and was curious about everything, but some things couldn't be answered.
"Um, our hometown is very far away, not easy to visit. By the way, let's talk about the mage issue."
Jiang Heng knew he wouldn't get an answer. Fortunately, he didn't need to know.
Since he and these people weren't natives of this world, if they could change professions through special items, he should be able to as well. If he didn't know, he could experiment.
"By the way, for mages, the most important thing is knowledge. Mages usually record their knowledge in magic books, which are very precious. Have you seen one?"
Jiang Heng shook his head, "I don't know, but my master has a lot of books. What kind of book are you talking about?"
Hearing Jiang Heng's words, Liu Wen's eyes lit up. Though he wasn't from a high birth, Liu Wen had an ambitious heart. If he could become a mage and gain a wealth of mage knowledge, he believed he could become a rising star and join a large organization, advancing steadily.
"The mage's book is like this. I saw one before, but it wasn't useful to me, so I'll give it to you."
