Chapter 30

After an unknown amount of time, Ye Yun woke up groggily.

The feeling of difficulty breathing, accompanied by an unbearable itching and soreness all over his body, made Ye Yun shudder violently. A series of strange sounds came from around him, and the darkness before his eyes turned into a faint coolness.

Ye Yun exhaled deeply, slowly raised his hand, and looked at his left palm in the dim light.

On the clean, fair skin, the huge wound that should have been there had vanished without a trace.

Ye Yun exclaimed in surprise, moved his right arm, and found that the bone which had been broken by the red-haired woman no longer hurt or itched, as if it had never been broken.

What's going on? Why am I not dead?

Ye Yun turned his head to the left in surprise, and his hair stood on end, a chill running through his heart!

Right next to him was a charred corpse!

He instinctively moved to the side, feeling the skin touch something incredibly cold and stiff. Looking back, he saw another corpse burned beyond recognition!

"This is a morgue!"

Ye Yun instantly calmed down, his eyes quickly scanning the surroundings, and he told himself.

Struggling to climb down from the steel shelf, Ye Yun glanced at the bodies lying all over the floor, then looked down at his naked body, a faint realization forming in his mind.

He felt that he must have come back to life... The various miracles in the game system had greatly increased his ability to accept things. Moreover, he still clearly remembered the wondrous feeling brought by the drop of golden-red blood, which gave him a sense of inexplicable calm.

Without checking the task list, he heard the noise from outside. Ye Yun rolled and jumped down from the shelf, hiding behind the door naked.

During this process, he unexpectedly found that his body was several times lighter than before, but he really didn't have time to think about it.

He had to escape as soon as possible, because he remembered something!

I was the last one to see that drop of blood. If the CTs don't give up and come to investigate, I'm dead!

He glanced at the grayish-blue wristband on his finger, which had turned into a game badge variant and landed on his hand as soon as he jumped down from the shelf.

With this, any CT who could access the secrets of the 'players' would surely pursue him to the death.

The door creaked open, and a staff member pushed a small cart with seven or eight charred corpses into the room.

The corpses, burned and dehydrated, were naturally much lighter.

Taking this opportunity, Ye Yun quickly slipped through the gap behind the staff member and ran into the night, taking advantage of the last bit of darkness at dawn.

The staff member felt a cool breeze brush past his neck and shivered, but when he turned back, he saw nothing.

This made him look panicked... A normal person would probably react the same way in such a situation.

Ye Yun naturally didn't care about the staff member's thoughts. He ran through the yard, past several wooden racks filled with bodies, and fled into the forest beside the crematorium.

It took Ye Yun more than an hour to sneak back to his home in a corner of the city.

Now dressed in casual clothes, he pushed open the door to his room, and the smell of dust hit him.

This room hadn't been used since Ye Yun started showing symptoms of leukemia, and it had been about three months, so the dusty smell was quite normal.

As a government-subsidized low-rent apartment, the one-bedroom, one-living room layout didn't feel cramped with a bed and a table. Moreover, Ye Yun wasn't a messy person, so the small room, though dusty, wasn't dirty or cluttered.

Ye Yun opened the bathroom door, turned on the light, and stepped inside.

He looked at himself in the mirror, speechless for a long time.

The image of the young man in the mirror was still his, but for some reason, it seemed like a different person.

His overall aura had completely changed!

First, his hair.

The originally neat and tidy buzz cut, after being burned by the fire, not only didn't decrease but had grown into a half-length, jet-black, smooth, and shiny hair that naturally parted in the middle and fell on both sides of his face. It was long and lush but didn't cover his eyes. The most crucial point was that this kind of hair was usually either dirty or feminine, but on Ye Yun's head, it was clean, neat, and incredibly cool, even surpassing the red-haired woman.

Then, his face.

His facial features and shape looked similar to before, but the details were more refined. He had gone from being somewhat handsome to a level of handsomeness that even he couldn't help but praise... The most important thing was his eyes. The former signs of decadence, inferiority, and melancholy were all gone, replaced by a bright and spirited gaze. Even if he deliberately made his eyes look sad, Ye Yun saw a pair of eyes that were more vibrant than sorrowful!

Combined, Ye Yun's appearance had become sunny, handsome, and full of energy.

What's going on?

Ye Yun walked out and sat on the only chair, opening his system panel.

A series of prompts appeared before his eyes.

"System detected player Ye Yun using 'Sakazaki's Blood,' compatibility check in progress..."

"Player Ye Yun's blood compatibility with 'Sakazaki's Blood' is 0.363%, confirming that player Ye Yun cannot withstand 'Sakazaki's Blood.'"

"System determines player Ye Yun's mortality rate to be 100%."

"..."

"System determination complete! System modification begins!"

"Modification plan: All diseased blood cells in player Ye Yun's body will be removed, and a forced transformation will be performed to fully integrate player Ye Yun with Sakazaki's Blood!"

!!!

Ye Yun's eyes widened in shock, looking at the panel in disbelief, unable to describe his feelings.

Surprise? Confusion? Fear? Or just plain bewildered?

After reading the information countless times, Ye Yun finally understood some of it.

In summary, it was just four words: turning a disaster into a blessing.

Ye Yun's blood was inherently incompatible with Sakazaki's Blood, and the consequence of a failed integration was death, which the system had confirmed.

But the problem was that Ye Yun was in debt!

According to some T rules, if a player dies before repaying their debt, the system will withdraw the previous treatment (Ye Yun was amazed that it could even do that). However, the key point was that Sakazaki's Blood was a special bloodline that had a very low compatibility rate with normal human cells but could perfectly integrate with leukemia cells... Ye Yun deduced that this was because leukemia cells were extremely unhealthy and had almost no resistance.

Normal blood cells would clash with Sakazaki's Blood, and regardless of the outcome, the body couldn't withstand it. Diseased cells, on the other hand, had no resistance to Sakazaki's Blood. It was like a normal person could fight a robber, but a sick person could only be beaten, so Sakazaki's Blood could easily devour and transform diseased cells into its own kind.

In this sense, people with blood diseases were more likely to accept Sakazaki's Blood (or other special bloodlines, though Ye Yun had no information to confirm this).

So, the problem was:

Healthy blood couldn't withstand Sakazaki's Blood, so Ye Yun would die; if he died, the system would withdraw his treatment; if the treatment was withdrawn, his healthy blood would revert to diseased blood; if the blood reverted to diseased, it could accept Sakazaki's Blood; if it could accept Sakazaki's Blood, Ye Yun wouldn't die; if he didn't die, he could repay his debt; if he could repay his debt, the system couldn't withdraw his treatment; if the treatment wasn't withdrawn, his blood would remain healthy; if his blood was healthy, he couldn't withstand Sakazaki's Blood; if he couldn't withstand it, he would die...

A cycle of paradoxes and truths, leading to a system bug.

The most human aspect of the game system was revealed here: if a player could find a bug and turn a T (true) rule into a non-T rule, the system had to make modifications and reward the player who found the bug.

While a bloodline that could trigger major events was certainly valuable, the T rules were even more crucial to the system, so in the end, Ye Yun benefited.

Actually, it wasn't surprising that such a bug would appear. Regardless of the ultimate goal of the 'Strongest Counter-Terrorist' game, it couldn't allow an unhealthy player to join directly. Providing treatment through debt was logical. The key was that players with diseases like Ye Yun's seemed to be rarely selected, and even if they were, they might not come into contact with treasures like Sakazaki's Blood. Even if they did, based on the experiences of seniors, they wouldn't dare to use it recklessly... Otherwise, a major event wouldn't have been triggered by a container that could store Sakazaki's Blood, showing that both sides of the players were extremely cautious about bloodlines.

As for Ye Yun, his goal was just to follow the faction route, essentially a minor character. The fact that he didn't die in the game was already a huge stroke of luck, but in the last moment, he lost his head and tried to seize Sakazaki's Blood. A series of coincidences then led to the perfect integration of Ye Yun and Sakazaki's Blood.

To put it simply, this enviable gain came without any effort.

PS: The protagonist naturally didn't exert much effort, but the author's brain cells are dying... Please vote!

PSS: Reiterating... I want to create a protagonist with depth, making his character development more realistic. How many people are naturally cold-blooded? Would a person with normal values really become cold and ruthless just to survive? If you say that Sakazaki's Blood is a golden finger I gave him, I have no argument. Some might ask why I didn't make him a CT faction member from the start. Actually, from the major events, you should understand that I want to write a game where neither side has absolute good guys.
