Chapter 1228 Lord Caldera Storm

"What is the meaning of this, Primal Everflow?!" someone transmitted to the Ascending Immortal standing between all of the valuables and the destroyed walls.

A moment later, a dark-red-haired, older man with a goatee appeared in front of Primal Everflow, glaring at her in anger.

Primal Everflow looked at the man with a mix of severity and frustration. This was her superior and also one of the five Lords of Extended Family, Lord Caldera Storm.

"Lord Caldera Storm," she transmitted. "I have to report something to you. I wanted to solve this issue by myself, but it seems like I have been hasty."

Lord Caldera Storm glared at Primal Everflow for a moment. Usually, he would immediately reprimand any member who had committed such a grave mistake, but he held Primal Everflow in high regard. She very rarely made mistakes, and her performance was one of the best in his entire department.

Lord Caldera Storm snorted once and sent several orders through his Communicator. Moments later, he received a couple of messages, and when he saw the estimated cost for repairing the Formation Arrays, he frowned a bit.

"We're in luck. The Connections going through the destroyed room are not critical. The estimated cost of repair is below 200,000 Grade Nine Energy Stones. Depending on your report, part of the cost might fall on your shoulders," he transmitted.

"Of course, Lord Caldera Storm," Primal Everflow answered. "I have made an error in judgment, and I will not shirk my responsibilities."

"I assume your report requires a certain level of confidentiality?" Lord Caldera Storm asked evenly.

"I request to deliver a report with the classification of top secret," Primal Everflow replied.

"Do you agree to the protocols of delivering such a report?" Lord Caldera Storm asked.

"I do," Primal Everflow answered.

"Then, follow me," he ordered before the two of them left the headquarters. A report with such a high confidentiality rating couldn't be made within the headquarters. While Inner World claimed that they couldn't control the Formation Arrays they had built for Extended Family, Extended Family didn't completely believe them.

The two of them went to an isolated place, and moments later, Primal Everflow received a request for access to her Soul Space. This was one of the rules for delivering a top secret report. Communication could only happen via direct connection between Soul Spaces.

Primal Everflow granted her superior access to her Soul Space, and when his perception entered her Soul Space, she created a voice transmission within her own Soul Space, which her superior could now sense as well.

"It all started with a request for revenge from the Rock Turner Team..."

Primal Everflow told Lord Caldera Storm about sending the Minor Immortal and the fact that he never returned. When she came to her conversation with Kyle, Lord Caldera Storm narrowed his eyes.

"I need additional confirmation," he interjected.

"I swear on my life, everything I have said was the truth and nothing but the truth to the best of my knowledge," Primal Everflow replied.

Lord Caldera Storm narrowed his eyes. "Do you know anything about these unmarked Last Lights? I require a confirmation oath as an answer."

"I swear on my life, I only know very little about them. I have not known about this particular Last Light before my conversation with the individual going by Kyle. I have only heard of two other incidents of Last Lights that involved Extended Family. I do not know if these Last Lights have been distributed by someone in our Organization or if the individuals have acquired them from somewhere else. I know there was the possibility of an investigation taking place, but I believe there wasn't enough evidence to properly start one."

"I decided to keep this matter secret from you and other members. If there truly is someone in Extended Family who distributes unmarked Last Lights, it's better if fewer people know. Confirmation oaths are common in official investigations. The more people know, the more trouble Extended Family will be in. As long as I can keep it secret, I will be the only one who gets killed since I'm the only one who knows about it."

Lord Caldera Storm closed his eyes as he listened to Primal Everflow.

"As your superior, I have to commend you for your dedication and sacrifice," he answered, "but as a private individual, I want to tell you that you shouldn't try to carry the weight of the family on your shoulders. We are a family, and we face challenges together. It is a fact that the family benefits more if you're willing to sacrifice yourself, but our ideals are also built on unity. You were not involved in the Last Light scandal. It is not your responsibility to deal with the entire incident."

"I understand," Primal Everflow answered.

"Continue with your report," Lord Caldera Storm commanded.

Primal Everflow told her superior about her plan. She sent one of their hidden agents to destroy Kyle's Avatars. The agent was not supposed to enter the range of any Divine Consciousnesses in the mine and create a cave-in. Like this, there would be no evidence. No one would have seen her, and even if they did, nobody could link her to Extended Family. That was the very point of a hidden agent. They were not official members of Extended Family.

When Primal Everflow finished her report, Lord Caldera Storm looked at her with furrowed brows. There was a cold glint in his eyes. "Why have you sent a Minor Immortal hidden agent in particular?"

"It was the best use of our available resources," Primal Everflow answered. "They are powerful enough to evade their senses but not strong enough to draw attention."

"Were you willing to sacrifice them?" her superior asked.

"I have explained the risks to her," she answered. "I told her that he might have a backer and that the last agent had most likely died to them. She believed that the backer wouldn't get involved since she wouldn't directly attack them. If they survived the cave-in, she wouldn't push the subject. Additionally, she also arrived with only a single Avatar."

"Secret backers like this usually only get involved when they believe that their target of protection has no realistic way to survive. They also do not wish for their target of protection to rely on them too much, which is why they rarely hunt and kill Seekers for them. Finally, even if the backer got involved, they wouldn't go so far as to kill all Avatars of a junior unless they noticed their identity, which didn't happen in this case."

"Her death was unexpected, but she knew the risks. I did not force her to accept the mission."

"I do not agree with your methods," Lord Caldera Storm answered. "You have power over your life. If you wish to burden yourself with the family's weight, you are free to do so. However, you must never pull lower-ranking family members into these matters! You've had two correct choices, and you chose an incorrect third one. One, report this to me. Two, deal with it yourself, without involving anyone else. You did not choose either of these options."

"The lives of our family members weigh heavier than the norms of morality and conduct. We do not send fair opponents to our targets. We send executioners. When somebody offends us, we don't fight them. We force them into compliance or kill them."

"I understand," Primal Everflow answered.

"Good," Lord Caldera Storm answered. "Based on your report, I declare that 30% of the repair costs will come from your wealth. Additionally, you will donate to Extended Family 30% of the monetary value of the deceased hidden agent."

"Affirmative," Primal Everflow answered calmly.

Lord Caldera Storm nodded. "Don't concern yourself with the matter of the Last Light anymore. I will deal with the issue."
