Chapter 51

Just this morning, as Nikun and Yoochun were desperately putting on a pitiful act and crying at JYP's press conference, Park Jihao had already negotiated the copyright issues of his song "MR" with DSP's music director.

Since "MR" was not selected as the lead single for KARA's second album, "Revolution," DSP would not promote "MR" on the charts. This meant that "MR" would have very little chance of being promoted, and thus very little chance of success. As a result, DSP was only willing to pay 10 million won to buy out the entire copyright of "MR."

Originally, Hong Kyunggi thought that Park Jihao would definitely sell the entire copyright, and his only concern was that Park Jihao might think 10 million won was too low. So, Hong Kyunggi had already prepared a backup plan, setting the final buyout price at 15 million won, which was already a very high price for a new artist. The main reason was that he thought "MR" was very good and had a good impression of Park Jihao's abilities, wanting to help him.

However, what left Hong Kyunggi speechless was that Park Jihao actually lowered the buyout price himself, asking for only 5 million won. However, he wanted to retain the copyright of "MR" and only sell the Korean usage rights to DSP. All other rights would remain with Park Jihao.

This left Hong Kyunggi flustered, as it was quite different from his expectations. He was also curious about Park Jihao's intentions, as a new composer would not typically propose such conditions. So, he smiled and asked Park Jihao, "Jihao, I admit your 'MR' is great, but you're a new artist, and 'MR' is not the lead single for KARA this time. There won't be much promotion for your song. To put it bluntly, your 'MR' has no chance of becoming popular. The copyright of a song that won't become popular is not worth 5 million won. Think about it."

Park Jihao smiled slightly. He knew that it would be very difficult for "MR" to become popular, as it was not the lead single and thus did not qualify for the charts. The charts meant appearing on the four major Korean music shows: Mnet's "M!Countdown," SBS's "Inkigayo," MBC's "Show! Music Core," and KBS's "Music Bank." Without being the lead single, "MR" did not qualify for the charts.

Without the charts, "MR" could not appear on these four major music shows. Although there were exceptions, they were only for songs that became extremely popular. Without the exposure from these shows, it was almost impossible for a song to become a hit. Therefore, it would be very difficult for "MR" to become popular. If it didn't become popular, the copyright would be meaningless. In a country that produces stars, songs come out like a geyser, so an unpopular song would quickly be forgotten. Why not just take 5 million won?

However, Park Jihao did not do that. He didn't know if "MR" would become popular, but since it was his first song, he wanted to keep the copyright as a keepsake, nothing more!

The result was that DSP was quite shameless. They agreed to let Park Jihao retain the copyright of "MR," but the 5 million won was reduced to 3 million won. After some thought, Park Jihao agreed. Even Hong Kyunggi felt a bit guilty, as this was clearly taking advantage of the situation. To make up for it, Hong Kyunggi secretly promised Park Jihao that "MR" could have its debut performance on TV. The first stage performance could be any song from the album, including the charting song, but even if the song was good, it could not win first place. After the second week, only the charting song, which was the lead single, could be performed.

This was a form of compensation, as it was still good for his song to appear on TV. They signed the agreement happily, and Park Jihao left with 3 million won. However, what he didn't expect was that today's decision would bring him an unexpected surprise.

After signing the agreement, Hong Kyunggi smiled and told Park Jihao he could freely tour DSP. Park Jihao thanked Hong Kyunggi and prepared to meet KARA. Coincidentally, when he arrived at KARA's dance studio, they were playing his song "MR." This gave Park Jihao a small sense of satisfaction.

From outside, he saw the KARA members cutely shaking their little bottoms to his song, which left Park Jihao speechless. He felt a bit embarrassed to just walk in, and he glared at the choreographer, wondering why they had choreographed a "butt dance" to his song!

After the girls finished their practice, Park Jihao gently pushed the door open and bowed to the group, saying, "Hello, I'm Park Jihao."

"Ah... OPPA, you finally came? How was it? Did you sign the agreement? Remember to take me out for a meal!" Seeing Park Jihao, Kang Ji-young happily ran over.

With Kang Ji-young hugging his arm, Park Jihao chuckled and patted her head, saying, "Don't worry, I just signed it. I won't forget to take you out for a meal. Whenever you're free, I'll take you."

"OPPA, you're the best!" Kang Ji-young smiled at Park Jihao and then pulled him over to introduce him to her seniors. Park Jihao shook hands with Park Gwi-ri, Han Seung-yeon, and Jeong妮可, and when he shook hands with Goo Hara, she chuckled and said, "You're the Jihao OPPA that Ji-young dreams about at night. You're really handsome, you know... Ji-young is especially...!"

Before she could finish, Kang Ji-young shouted and covered Goo Hara's mouth, her face turning red as she loudly protested, "I didn't, I didn't, sister, don't say that."

Goo Hara almost suffocated from Kang Ji-young's grip and had to raise her hands in surrender. She really didn't know why her maknae was so strong today.

After a burst of laughter, Kang Ji-young introduced the choreographer to Park Jihao. Honestly, Park Jihao's appearance first captured the heart of the choreographer, who was actually a fan of Park Jihao. Shaking hands with Park Jihao made her extremely excited, and she couldn't help but hug him, which made Park Jihao chuckle. It felt good to have fans, didn't it?
