The furious roar of Mayor Cross echoed throughout the town hall.

Cross moved with incredible speed, instantly appearing in front of Stone Peak and extending his fist to strike.

At this moment, all the players looked at Stone Peak with a mixture of schadenfreude, eager to witness the might of Mayor Cross.

Cross was a level 15 elite, capable of killing any current player with a single slap. Stone Peak, however, had foolishly provoked the mayor, and no one in Red Leaf Town could save him. He would either be locked up until he died or expelled from Red Leaf Town.

But Stone Peak remained surprisingly calm, which puzzled the other players. Had he already made peace with his fate?

Just as Cross was about to hit Stone Peak, Stone Peak, who had been standing still, suddenly moved. Like a hunter waiting for his prey, he swiftly drew his beginner's sword and blocked the attack, his movements incredibly swift.

Bang!

Cross's fist struck the beginner's sword, sending Stone Peak flying. As he was about to hit the ground, Stone Peak flipped like a nimble cat and landed steadily on his feet. However, his health points instantly dropped by 84, and his beginner's sword trembled, losing 1 point of durability. If the durability reached 0, the weapon would become unusable.

Sigh...

All the players drew in a sharp breath.

They had thought Stone Peak was just a rookie player looking for trouble, but anyone with eyes could see that Stone Peak was highly skilled. Even though Cross was a magic-based class with little physical output, he was still a level 15 elite, and any single attack could kill a current player. Yet, Stone Peak not only survived but also used his weapon to minimize the damage.

"Clearly a magic-based class, but his strength and speed are astonishing," Stone Peak marveled, looking at his beginner's sword that was emitting a mournful sound. Fortunately, he had maxed out his agility, increasing his attack speed to 4. Otherwise, he would have been dead, and he would have had to restart the quest.

"Die, you pest!"

Failing to land his first strike, Cross became even angrier. Suddenly, his clothes tore apart, revealing black fur all over his body, transforming him into a fanged and clawed werewolf.

All the players were stunned, never expecting the mayor to be an evil werewolf.

Cross instantly appeared behind Stone Peak, raising his sharp claws to strike at Stone Peak's chest.

Stone Peak, with only 16 health points left, smirked.

Cross's claws suddenly stopped, just a few centimeters away from ending Stone Peak's life. Unfortunately, he was hit by a charge from a level 25 guard, causing him to be stunned for 1 second.

During this time, Stone Peak quickly moved away.

As Cross regained consciousness, he continued to chase Stone Peak, but was interrupted by another guard.

Both level 25 guards were warriors, not elites, but they dealt significant damage. A single charge and a normal attack took away over 300 of Cross's health points, and together, the two guards reduced his health by over 600, bringing it down to around 1700.

"Guards are truly formidable, their attacks are so powerful," Stone Peak taunted, watching the battered Cross.

Guards were the protectors of the town, specifically tasked with defending the townspeople and repelling evil. The transformation of the mayor into a werewolf proved that he was not human but an evil spy. The guards naturally would not let him go, treating him like a monster to be killed.

Sherlock's request seemed strict, but in reality, it only required provoking the mayor to attack and surviving the initial strike. After that, the mayor would reveal his true nature, and the guards would take care of the rest.

In the previous life, this unique quest caused a stir in White River City because the mayor was an evil spy, changing many players' perceptions of the game. NPCs were not always reliable and could be disguised as evil forces.

This player's method of luring the mayor to attack was also shocking, but the player who completed it had struggled and finally succeeded, proudly sharing the strategy. Now, Stone Peak had benefited from it.

Thus, Mayor Cross was attacked by two guards. Although the guards' damage was high, Cross's target remained Stone Peak, relentlessly pursuing him. However, the guards'纠缠 (entanglement) and attacks, including a hamstring and a thunder strike, significantly reduced Cross's movement speed. Fortunately, Stone Peak had 5 points of movement speed, allowing him to narrowly escape.

This way, Cross lost over 2000 health points, and it was clear he was about to die.

Seeing Cross on the brink of death, many players became restless, wanting to deliver the final blow and claim the loot. Although they did not understand why the guards were attacking Cross and not Stone Peak, they knew that a level 15 elite mayor would drop valuable items if killed.

Stone Peak, hiding at a distance, sneered at their efforts.

The mayor was not someone they could easily target. Although he had become an evil force, this was a quest, and other players still saw the mayor as friendly, unable to attack him.

Just as Cross had less than 100 health points left, all the players moved, rushing towards the mayor to deliver the final blow and claim the loot.

Seeing Cross about to die, Stone Peak also rushed over.

Unfortunately, Cross died under the guards' swords, and no player could attack him. Although Stone Peak could have attacked, he did not take the risk. After the mayor's death, he directly took the mayor's badge and disappeared into the crowd.

Even if an NPC in the city was killed, there would be no experience or loot. If not for the quest, Stone Peak would not have been able to take the mayor's badge.

"Damn, system bug, why can't I attack the mayor?"

"I want to complain! Why didn't the mayor drop anything?"

Some rookie players grumbled and were furious, unable to accept that a level 15 elite died before their eyes, and they gained nothing.

"Idiots, don't you know you have a friendly relationship with NPCs? You can't attack friendly NPCs. If you don't know this basic knowledge, what are you doing in Divine Realm?"

Some knowledgeable players mocked them and then searched for Stone Peak, wanting to befriend such a skilled player. However, they could not find him, not even his name, and they felt a bit disappointed.

The news of Mayor Cross's death spread throughout Red Leaf Town, causing a stir among all the players.

While many players were still struggling to level up by killing monsters, a town mayor had been defeated, which was truly impressive.

Within less than 30 minutes of Divine Realm's launch, a message appeared on the official forum.

A mysterious swordsman killed the level 15 elite mayor of Red Leaf Town, who turned out to be a werewolf. What kind of game is Divine Realm?

This message instantly caused a sensation among all Divine Realm players, with the click rate quickly surpassing ten million. Everyone became interested in the mysterious swordsman, but unfortunately, no one knew his name or how to contact him.

By this time, Stone Peak had already arrived at a dark alley.

"Mr. Sherlock, here is the mayor's badge you requested," Stone Peak handed the silver mayor's badge to the beggar Sherlock.

The completion of the quest was tragic for those who had already accepted the mayor's quest or wanted to accept it, as Cross would not respawn, and there would be no one to turn in the quest. Red Leaf Town would no longer have a mayor, but Stone Peak did not care about that.

"Thank you, thank you so much. Now I have avenged my friend. I hope these items will be of help to you."

Sherlock handed Stone Peak an elegant small box and then left the dark alley with the mayor's badge.

System: Unique quest "Sherlock's Request" completed. Reward: 2000 experience points, 20 free proficiency points, and a luxurious accessory box.

With a whoosh, Stone Peak leveled up to level 1, needing only 1000 more experience points to reach level 2. In just 30 minutes of Divine Realm's launch, Stone Peak became the highest-level player in Red Leaf Town. It usually took ordinary players six to seven hours to earn the 1000 experience points needed to reach level 1, considering that a level 0 monster only gave 3 experience points, and they had to find monsters, recover health, and deal with the initial crowd of players competing for monsters. It was normal for it to take over ten hours to reach level 1.

"Why is the reward for the unique quest so generous? Is it because I completed it at level 0?" Stone Peak was a bit puzzled but very satisfied with the rewards.

In the previous life, the rewards posted were not as generous. The experience points were the same, but the free proficiency points were different. The person only received 10 points and an elegant accessory box, while Stone Peak received 20 points and a luxurious accessory box.

In Divine Realm, free proficiency points were extremely valuable, and only a few quests rewarded 3 to 5 points. A unique quest rewarded 20 points.

"I hope it doesn't disappoint. Although it's not an elegant accessory box, it's a better luxurious accessory box, so it should be good." Stone Peak carefully held the accessory box, his throat moving, a bit nervous as he slowly opened it.

While the experience points and free proficiency points were valuable, what Stone Peak truly wanted was the item inside the accessory box. It was a crucial item for his plan to level up and earn money, and it was a top-tier item that many experts in the previous life drooled over. If something went wrong, he would be devastated.
