Chapter 68

2 min read610 words

When I woke up, 30 members of the agricultural team were sitting neatly in a row under the bed.

It’s scary, please stop, really stop.

I’m worried it might be harassment.

I want to believe it’s not, but it’s not, right?

Looking at the agricultural team, I was stared back at by 30 of them, it’s scary.

...Taken to the field, I see, it’s harvest time.

Why did everyone come?

The field is bountiful; I planted the seeds and watered them once.

The rest was all the work of the agricultural team and the little ants and spiders.

I’ve never grown vegetables before, but I can tell it’s a bountiful harvest.

I’m not sure when the harvest time is, though.

First, harvesting 10 types of vegetables whose shapes I recognize.

They seem edible, but I can’t know the taste without eating them.

There’s a possibility they might not be edible.

Entering the field, I found a new building next to the rock.

...It was a storage shed for agricultural tools, when did it appear?

Regaining my composure, I started harvesting.

Out of the 10 types, today’s harvest is 7 types.

I put a little water in the rock pot and placed a rock plate with legs inside it.

I put one of each of the 7 types of vegetables in it, covered it, and heated the rock.

Steaming them to taste the flavors simply.

Opening the lid, a good smell.

I took everything out and checked for any changes, but there were no problems.

First one, oh, it’s similar to a potato.

Second one, hmm?

It has a fluffy texture but a weak taste... disappointing.

Third one, it’s sweet and sticky, maybe a sweet potato.

Fourth one, it’s fresh, similar to a radish but a bit different.

I tried eating it raw, I’ve never eaten it before but it’s delicious.

Fifth one, a sticky tuber, maybe a taro.

Sixth one, it’s sweet, but the bitterness is intense, this won’t do.

Seventh one, it has a smooth texture and a mysterious taste, delicious.

Except for the second and sixth ones, I moved the rest to the storage room.

I moved the second and sixth ones to a temporary room I made on the first floor.

That day, I cooked the harvested vegetables and meat.

They ate it with apparent enjoyment, which was reassuring.

The next day, one representative was waiting by the bed.

In the field, the ant family and spider family were tilling the soil.

They seemed to really enjoy the taste.

...

It took 10 days to complete all the harvesting.

There were 7 types of potato-like vegetables, differing in taste, stickiness, and size.

3 types of radish-like vegetables, differing in sweetness and size.

1 type of sweet potato, which is quite sweet.

2 types of taro-like vegetables, differing in size.

There were also vegetables that grew above the ground.

3 types of pumpkin-like vegetables, differing in sweetness and size, including one giant variety.

1 type of ginger-like vegetable.

4 types of onions.

13 types of vegetables I’ve never eaten before, all of which were delicious.

In total, 34 types, a bountiful harvest.

I left 10 of each type in the field to collect seeds.

The rest were all moved to the storage room.

I rejected 4 types.

The ones with intense bitterness and a strange taste.

These will be used as fertilizer.

I kept the vegetables with a mild taste, sweetness, and strong astringency for a reason.

If successful, it will increase the variety of seasonings... I want to increase them.

I worked hard, and the harvest was completed without being kicked out until the end.

That’s good.
