Chapter 40

After finishing the special training and returning to the inn, I went through my usual routine of taking a bath and having a meal before heading to my room.

Today, I’m already exhausted, but I stayed awake until the date changed to do the SSR guaranteed 33-draw pickup gacha that was announced.

This gacha seems to be a one-day, surprise event. I wish they had announced it earlier!

“Grr… 33-draw gacha…”

“Eh? Is there something wrong with you, Oogura-sama? You don’t seem happy… Is something bothering you? Not in the mood for a carnival?”

“It’s not like you to be unhappy about the gacha… Is something bad about to happen?”

As usual, the three of us sat on the bed, with me in the middle holding my smartphone. They peered at it from both sides.

The only difference was that Muffet was also participating, sitting on Noelle’s lap. It seems to be her favorite spot.

Usually, I would be overjoyed, but this time it’s different.

The 33-draw gacha requires 150 magic stones per draw. I currently have 934 magic stones, which means I can only do it 6 times.

Furthermore, this is a pickup gacha. The probability-up units are UR Sisha Alvi, UR Karone, UR Clausorus, and UR Attractor.

Sisha is the priestess we’ve been looking for. If we’re going to aim for anyone, it’s definitely her, but the others are also very appealing.

Karone is almost the strongest unit as a front-liner, and the other two are a sword and a shield.

If I get these two, I can finally move on from the crowbar and the pot lid… Getting even one in 6 draws would be a huge victory.

“Yeah, I’m happy that the priestess is in the pickup, but… damn! I should have saved more magic stones!”

“Eh… Is that why you looked troubled!?”

What terrible timing. I didn’t even expect a 33-draw gacha!

It’s so unfair to attach a pickup only to the 33-draw. Even though it’s guaranteed to get an SSR, it doesn’t say that the UR probability is increased.

It seems that the increased probability means that if an UR is drawn, the chance of getting one of the targeted units is higher. The overall UR drop rate is likely still around 1%.

If this was an 11-draw gacha and the pickup units could be drawn, it would have been much easier… 18 draws would have been much more manageable, but 6 draws make me feel like my stomach is being squeezed.

Even if I went hunting right now, it would be too difficult to gather the remaining 116 magic stones. If only I had a few more days… damn.

“We can only do 6 draws… How about 2 draws each?”

“Yay! We get to draw again!”

“Hmm, I’m a bit excited.”

Since we can each do 2 draws, it will be fair this time.

Noelle and Estelle are happy, but I’m feeling quite conflicted.

The weight of a 33-draw is incomparable to an 11-draw. The feeling when it’s not a rainbow is indescribable.

Watching the items being revealed feels like a punishment.

But overcoming that and getting the unit you want is incredibly satisfying. I was so happy that I ran around my room naked the last time.

“When you draw, do it with a prayer. Each 33-draw has the weight of 3 11-draws. Please keep that in mind.”

“Ugh, that makes me feel more responsible… Can I go last?”

“Hmm, you seem unusually timid, Noelle. How about I go first?”

Hearing my words, Noelle seemed a bit scared and picked up Muffet from her lap, holding her in her arms.

Unlike her, Estelle took the smartphone from me as usual, looking as confident as ever.

She stood tall and proud, and Noelle and I peered at the screen from both sides.

Her confident fingers tapped the 33-draw gacha.

A treasure chest appeared on the screen. The chest turned silver, gold, and white, stopping at white.

【R Food, R Chrome Armor, R Chrome Gauntlet, SR Excalibur, SR Pot Lid, R Short Sword, R Katars, SR Cursed Rod, SR Caduceus Emblem, SR Beacon, R Stuffed Animal】

“...This is more nerve-wracking than I thought.”

“Aww… I’m starting to feel scared.”

“I’ll cry if no UR comes out.”

The confident atmosphere from before disappeared, and she looked a bit stiff.

Noelle, who was watching from the side, seemed to be hugging Muffet even tighter, and the rabbit was slightly deformed.

For the second draw, she pressed the screen with slightly trembling fingers.

A treasure chest appeared on the screen. The chest turned silver, gold, and white, stopping at white.

“Ah… I’m sorry, brother…”

“No, don’t worry about it. I respect your courage as the first drawer.”

“...Hmm? Oogura-sama seems a bit off…”

Estelle handed me the smartphone with an apologetic look and we switched places.

It seems we won’t get it so easily. Thinking about how we just used up 6 11-draws makes me shiver.

Is this what it feels like to be a warrior? Haha, interesting.

Since I’m drawing the gacha, I will definitely get an UR.

“Then, let’s go.”

My fingers tapped the 33-draw gacha like pressing the enter key on a keyboard.

A treasure chest appeared on the screen. The chest turned silver, gold, and white, stopping at white.

【R Short Spear, SR Waist Pouch, R Gauntlet, SR Gold Shoes, R Claw, SR Banana Fan, R Duster, SR Caduceus Emblem, R Iron Sword, SR Prominence Rod, R Universal Medicine】

“Hie—It’s not time to panic yet. Calm down, calm down! Got it!?”

“Brother, are you okay? You’re sweating a lot?”

“Oogura-sama, you should calm down first…”

“I’m fine, no problem.”

The moment the white treasure chest appeared, my body stiffened as if I had stopped breathing.

What a situation… 3 draws left. We need to get an UR in the next 3 draws, including Noelle’s.

We’ve already used half of our chances in this short time.

But thinking positively, we still have half left. I can do it, I can get an UR with this many draws. I will draw it myself.

I took a deep breath and tapped the 33-draw gacha with a calm motion.

A treasure chest appeared on the screen. The chest turned silver, gold, white, and then stopped at rainbow.

“Haha, as expected of someone like me, the URs come to me naturally.”

“What’s with that arrogant attitude…”

Haha, I drew another UR. It seems I have quite a bit of luck with the gacha.

Moreover, this is a pickup. It’s almost impossible to get a duplicate like last time.

【R Food, SR Gorgeous Shoes, R Camping Set, SR Waist Pouch, R Stuffed Animal, SR Magic Blade, R Steel Boots, SR Life Gem, SR Pot Lid, R Knife, R Sleeping Bag】

【R Potion ×10, SR Call App, R Hot Ring, SR Nike's Shoes, R Junk Ring, SR Magic Canceller, SR Excalibur, SSR Adamant Armor, R Ice Rod, SR Platinum Plate, R Stimulant】

“Ah—”

My vision went dark, and my body fell backward without resistance.

“Hey!? Oogura-sama!? E, Estelle! Oogura-sama isn’t breathing!?”

“Getting a duplicate again… Maybe it was too much of a shock for brother? Come on, wake up, brother.”

I could hear the commotion around me, but the words didn’t register in my head.

What’s happening? What’s wrong with me?

After a while, something touched my skin, and something flowed into me.

“Wha—Huh!? What am I…?”

“Stopping breathing just from drawing the gacha…”

“Brother, you’re exhausted.”

Huh? What was I doing?

I remember drawing the gacha… Ah, right.

Why did I get a duplicate again!? What about the pickup? Hey, someone, tell me.

Defeated by the gacha, I handed the smartphone to Noelle and switched places.

She put Muffet down on her lap and held the smartphone low, visible to the rabbit.

Muffet sniffed at the smartphone in front of her.

“S, So, it’s my turn… B, Both of you, watching me like this makes me nervous…”

“Noelle, do your best. All our hopes are on you.”

“I believe in you. I’ve always believed you can do it.”

“W, Why do you only show this much trust in me at times like this!? Ugh… Here I go.”

A treasure chest appeared on the screen. The chest turned silver, gold, and white, stopping at white.

【R Camping Set, R Iron Armor, R Food, R Boots, SR Pot Lid, R Stuffed Animal, SR Nike's Shoes, R Lamp, R Smoke Bomb, SR Beacon, SR Explosion Ticket】

“Ugh…”

“Tsk… Ah, sorry. Don’t worry, there’s still another draw.”

No, no, I shouldn’t have clicked my tongue.

Even with Noelle’s good luck, it didn’t work? Seriously, are we going to get nothing from this?

“Y, You clicked your tongue just now! Mmm… Oogura-sama, can I let Muffet draw?”

“Hmm? Sure, if you want.”

“Hehe, okay. Muffet, press here.”

After reacting to my tongue click, she seemed to have an idea and wanted Muffet to draw.

Hmm, if she wants Muffet to draw, that’s fine, but is it okay?

Noelle moved the smartphone in front of Muffet and pointed to the 33-draw button.

Muffet seemed to understand and placed her front paw on the button.

I heard she was smart, but she really understands what to do…

A treasure chest appeared on the screen. The chest turned silver, gold, white, and then stopped at rainbow.

【R Great Sword, SR Spike Shield, R Food, SR Thick Book, SR千里眼, R Enhancer, R Flash Bomb, SR Auto Guard Sphere, R Shoulder Pad, R Ice Ring, R Stuffed Animal】

【R Tear Gas, SR Shura's Fist, R Sleeping Bag, SR Angel's Robe, R Shuriken, SR Franciska, R Magic Potion ×10, R Lamp, R Transceiver, SR Photo App, R Thunder Ring】

“Wha—An UR!?”

“You really are the harbinger of luck.”

“Mmm, good job, Muffet~”

Muffet puffed out her chest proudly, and Noelle happily petted her head.

S, Seriously… I’m happy, but to lose to a rabbit in the gacha…
