Chapter 5 of 100
Chapter 5

Adventurer Grin and merchant Raul.
We had saved the two of them and were now heading to the town of Brunne with them.
Since the carriage was loaded with goods, we were walking on foot.
I asked Raul why only Grin had brought a guard during our journey.
It seemed that there was a sudden need to transport goods, and Grin was the only one who could set out immediately as a guard.
They were ambushed by that army of goblins while they were being careless, thinking that one carriage would be fine.
Usually, goblins don't attack at night.
...Could it be that they came out looking for us because we killed the goblins?
"Nor, carry me..."
"What are you saying, being so pitiful. Come on, walk briskly or we'll miss the shipment."
"That's not fair..."
"You guys... you seem to get along really well."
Grin looked exasperated as he watched Nor and me fooling around.
Still, are we really that close? Hmm. It's only been a day since I summoned her, but I do feel like we get along well.
I don't know what she thinks, though. She seems to go along with anything because she's so easy-going.
"We're almost to Brunne. Hang in there, Oogura-san."
"Okay..."
"You don't seem like the type who could one-sidedly slaughter so many goblins yesterday."
Raul, who was driving the carriage, also called out to me with a troubled look.
Wearing unfamiliar shoes and armor for two days of long-distance travel is killing me, as a modern person.
Most of the credit for killing the goblins goes to the equipment, Grin.
I think my stats are probably average...
●
"Thank you very much this time."
"No, thank you for accompanying us all the way to the town."
A few hours later, we arrived at the town of Brunne.
The town was surrounded by walls several meters high, more than twice my height.
There was a moat outside the walls, and you had to cross a bridge to enter.
The guards at the entrance let us in easily with just a quick procedure, as we were Raul's guards. I should thank Raul.
After exchanging pleasantries, Raul said that if we needed anything, we should come to the guild, and then he headed there.
"Alright, I'll be going too."
"Where are you headed, Grin?"
"To the Adventurer's Guild here. I need to collect my reward now that my job as Raul's guard is over."
By the way, when we parted ways with Raul, he was given some paper. It was probably a proof of completed request.
"See you, thanks for yesterday," Grin said and walked off.
I wonder why, but it feels a bit sad to disband as soon as we reach the town.
"Phew, we finally made it to a place with people."
"Indeed, we have."
The houses in the town were made of red bricks, and the roads were also paved with the same bricks, making the entire town look red.
It was already dusk, making the town even redder.
People were constantly flowing from right to left and left to right, and I was moved by the sight of the town.
I hadn't seen a crowd in two days, and I missed it more than I thought.
Most of the people in the town were Caucasian. Was it just my imagination, or were people looking at me as they passed by?
Everyone seemed to have blonde hair, and there was no one with black hair.
Was I the odd one out, or was it the silver-haired female knight next to me?
"First, let's exchange the drop items for money."
"You have money in your item list, you know?"
"Well, I want to check how much it's worth by exchanging it."
The currency in this world is G. According to Raul, the denominations are 10 copper coins, 100 large copper coins, 1000 silver coins, 10,000 large silver coins, and 100,000 gold coins.
I wondered if there was anything less than 1G, but apparently it doesn't exist, so they don't set such small prices.
Nor's bag was already full with the drop items we collected when we saved Raul and the ones we picked up before that.
I could use a bigger bag.
"Welcome."
"Excuse me, can I sell some drop items?"
A middle-aged man with a scruffy beard greeted us.
Drop items can be sold at general stores, so that's where we came.
Indeed, the store was filled with various items like clothes and accessories.
The items we brought were two orc tusks, fifteen goblin tusks, two clubs, and one piece of orc meat.
I was surprised when Nor carried a block of meat after we killed the orc, saying, "It's a big catch!"
I didn't know such things would drop.
"Sure, let me see. Two orc tusks for 2000G, fifteen goblin tusks for 7500G, two clubs for 2000G, and one piece of orc meat for 2000G. That's a total of 13,500G."
"Alright, I'll sell them to you. Oh, and can I get a larger bag and some casual clothes?"
After the transaction, I bought a set of clothes for Nor and me.
I don't want to wear the same clothes until I go to bed.
She didn't seem to care much about clothes and bought the same plain ones as me.
I also bought a larger bag, spending about 3000G in total.
"Alright, now that we've exchanged the items, let's find an inn for the night."
"That sounds good! Preferably one with good food!"
It was almost sunset, and we hadn't decided on our future plans yet.
First, we needed to find a place to settle down.
We asked a passerby if they knew of a good inn and followed their directions to find one.
"Welcome. Two guests, right?"
"Ah, yes, that's right."
A young woman greeted us at the inn.
The first floor seemed to be a dining area with tables.
She led us to a counter where we wrote our names on a piece of paper.
Thanks to the language skill, I could read and write without any problems.
"Um, we'd like to rent two rooms. Are they available?"
"Yes, we have..."
"Wait a minute!"
I was about to rent two rooms, but I was stopped.
The receptionist was surprised by the sudden interruption.
What's going on?
"Hey, what's up, Nor?"
"Renting two rooms would be a waste of money. I think it's better to rent a room for two people."
...Is she serious? It's not normal to suggest sharing a room with a man and a woman.
"No, that's a bit..."
"Are you against it, Oogura-sama? I plan to be with you from morning till night."
That's scary, but...
However, our funds are limited, and I don't want to waste money.
Renting a room for two people would cost 3000G.
I'm fine with sharing a room with a beautiful girl, and if she's okay with it, it's fine.
Yeah, it's important to respect her wishes. I have no ulterior motives.
"Hmm, then let's rent a room for two people."
●
"Hmm."
"What's wrong?"
"I was just checking my status."
After dinner, I returned to my room and looked at my phone.
Nor came over and peered at the screen with me.
Her face was very close. I was startled for a moment, but since it's Nor, I quickly calmed down.
After spending a little time together, I feel like we've lost the awareness of being a man and a woman.
She probably isn't thinking about such things, and I might be getting influenced by her.
I wish I could get back that initial excitement.
Anyway, I was finally able to relax and check my phone, and I realized that I could check the status of units.
It feels strange to see my abilities quantified... It's a bit scary to think that this is all the HP I have.

――――――
"Wow, Nor is really strong. You're much stronger than me..."
"Hehe, you can rely on me more. I'll ensure your safety as long as I'm here!"
Her stats are incredible. She's definitely a UR unit.
When I said that, Nor puffed out her chest and put her hands on her hips, saying "Mmm-hmm."
She's definitely smirking under that helmet. Looking at her, I suddenly had the urge to rip off her helmet.
Next, I scrolled down to see the equipment I was currently using.
――――――
● Regi Elytra
Attack +2000
Magic Effectiveness +100%
Enemy Action Speed -50%
● Al Rakie
Defense +2000
Magic Resistance +100%
Immune to Status Effects
――――――
Regi Elytra is a sword, and Al Rakie is a shield.
The developers who came up with these must be crazy.
These two are actually UR equipment that you can only get from the gacha.
But this time, they came with Nor from the start.
Because of this equipment, the battles between hardcore players in the game are really intense.
If I joined, the difference would be so great that the entire army would vanish.
With the magic effectiveness, this sword effectively has an attack power of over 4000 against monsters.
The remaining 1500 defense probably comes from the armor, which doesn't seem to have any special effects.
Then, I looked at my weapon...
――――――
● Excalibur
Attack +490
Action Speed +50%
● Pot Lid
Defense +250
――――――
Hmm... Is this strong? A sword and a pot lid? They look terrible.
The difference between Nor and me isn't just in skill but also in equipment... I'm so jealous!
"Phew, I'm tired from walking for two days. I think I'll rest for today."
I suddenly felt very tired.
I really want better equipment.
By the way, how do I collect the magic stones needed for the gacha?
Nor said she didn't know about this.
I guess it's reasonable to exchange them for the world's currency?
But there's no option for an exchange counter.
"What should we do from tomorrow?"
"Why not go to the Adventurer's Guild?"
"Why that place... Are you saying we should become adventurers?"
"That's right. You'll need to gather more followers besides me, right? A stable income is essential."
Indeed, if we keep this up, we'll run out of money eventually.
If we're going to keep killing monsters and collecting drop items, becoming adventurers might be a good idea. There will be requests for monster hunting.
We'll need more money if we draw more characters from the gacha.
I also need to level up and increase my cost to be able to deploy more than one unit.
I intend to find a way back to my original world, but that will require investigating various places.
For that, we need to secure combat power. We can't afford to die.
"Ah, that's a good idea. Let's do that."
I agreed with Nor.
She nodded in satisfaction and went to take a bath.
Oh, right, there's a bath here.
"I didn't think you'd go to such lengths to hide your face."
After a while, Nor came back, having taken off her silver armor and wearing the plain clothes we bought today.
Wow, without the armor, she has a really good figure... but the eye mask ruins it.
It seems to be something she uses to hide her face. She can see through it, apparently.
She must have a good reason to hide her face so thoroughly.
As a man, I'll respect her privacy and not pry.
"Of course. A maiden's face is not to be revealed easily. I will firmly refuse to show it!"
"Maiden...? Haha."
"What? You're laughing at me!?"
Well, if Nor is a maiden, it would be a big deal on a certain bulletin board.
Her angry face with the eye mask is really silly, and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
