Upon arriving at the nearest town, Fang Shen discarded the minivan, bought a ticket, and returned directly to Mingzhu City, the capital of Linhai Province.

He first called Xie Yaxue to report his safety and also inquired about the auction website.

"Do you still have the nerve to say that." On the other end of the phone, Xie Yaxue rolled her eyes. Fang Shen had been away for over a month, during which time his phone was completely unreachable. She and Mo Cong encountered many problems while designing the website, and there was no one to help solve them. Now, after waiting so long, Fang Shen finally returned, and she immediately asked several questions in one breath.

Fang Shen answered each question. In fact, the website was almost complete, and Xie Yaxue assured him that he could see the perfect auction website tomorrow.

"You've worked hard, I'll treat you to a big meal when the time comes." There was no need for too many thanks between friends. After hanging up, Fang Shen began to worry about his accommodation.

Despite Xie Yaxue's efforts, he was still expelled from Linhai University, and Lin Zhirong's influence was definitely at play. Fang Shen was not in a hurry; he would settle accounts with Lin Zhirong when the time came.

He could not return to the school dormitory, and his family's property had long been occupied. At this moment, Fang Shen was actually homeless. The top priority was to find a place to live, and then slowly start his plan.

He found a real estate agency. As soon as he entered, he heard a high-pitched scream.

The source of the scream was an 18-19-year-old girl, a true beauty, even more attractive than Xie Yaxue. She had a slender figure, fair skin, and a cute little backpack. At that moment, she looked very conflicted and scared.

Fang Shen glanced at her, not because she was particularly attractive, but because she seemed familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before.

Seeing everyone in the hall looking at her, the girl's face turned red. She pulled the receptionist aside and whispered, "Is it true? I've never heard of such a thing before. Is there really, that, that?"

The receptionist nodded, "Think about it, if it weren't haunted, could this villa be rented so cheaply?" She was also quite helpless. In their line of work, they didn't push customers away. It was already difficult enough to sell without exaggerating, let alone scaring customers away.

However, the landlord had specified that the tenants must be informed of this. They had tried to hide it, but after moving in, the tenants were so frightened that they foamed at the mouth and fainted, requiring emergency hospitalization. Afterward, feeling cheated, the tenants came to the agency demanding compensation for medical and mental distress, causing them a lot of trouble.

Since the landlord had made it clear, the responsibility fell entirely on the agency. After a couple of such incidents, no one wanted to do such a losing business anymore. They now disclosed the haunting before the tenants made their decision.

The girl looked very conflicted. She really liked this villa, and the rent was extremely cheap. She had left home in a fit of anger and had little money. She immediately set her sights on this villa. However, the receptionist's serious tone was shaking her resolve.

Fang Shen's interest was piqued, and he walked over, took the house information, and his eyes lit up.

This was a two-story villa, well-located, with beautiful surroundings and a small garden. The photos of the inside and outside of the villa were very realistic, which made Fang Shen even more satisfied. He was not someone who had suffered from a hard childhood; when his father was alive, their family's villa was several times better than this one. Living comfortably was the best option.

Moreover, the rent was very cheap, only 1,000 yuan per month, which he could afford given his current financial situation.

As for the haunting, Fang Shen did not take it seriously. He was a cultivator, and with his Heavenly Eye, he could easily see if there were any ghosts. Besides, the Earth's environment was not suitable for ghost cultivators.

"I want to rent this villa," Fang Shen said to the receptionist.

"Hey, I saw it first," the girl pouted, clearly unhappy. However, she was just complaining; she wouldn't dare to live there alone.

"However, sir, this villa is haunted, and several tenants have been scared into the hospital," the receptionist reminded him conscientiously.

"No problem, I'm naturally brave," Fang Shen smiled.

Since Fang Shen had said so, the receptionist had no reason to object.

Seeing the two of them agree, the girl was very frustrated. She looked at the villa photos with longing, then her eyes twinkled, and she suddenly grabbed Fang Shen, "Hey, don't you feel lonely living in such a big house alone? How about we split the rent? Even if it's haunted, we'll be braver together."

Fang Shen looked at her in surprise; she wasn't afraid of him, a stranger.

"Don't underestimate me, I'm the main player in the school's taekwondo team. I can take down two guys like you in a second," the girl huffed, proud of herself.

Fang Shen laughed. The girl's suggestion was somewhat appealing. Given his current situation, having someone else share the rent would be easier. The villa was so large that living alone would indeed be lonely. He had nothing to hide, so he didn't mind sharing. Moreover, she felt familiar to him.

"You take the upstairs, I'll take the downstairs," Fang Shen nodded.

"Deal, let's get acquainted. I'm Li Yan," the girl said, a bit disappointed not to get the second floor, but quickly smiled and extended her hand to Fang Shen.

"Li Yan? Are you from the Li family?" Fang Shen's mind raced, but he extended his hand and shook Li Yan's soft, small hand.

"My name is Fang Shen."

...

In front of the two-story villa, only Fang Shen and Li Yan remained. The receptionist had quickly left, as if staying any longer would invite the wrath of evil spirits, making Li Yan's face pale.

"Indeed, it's a bit strange," Fang Shen frowned, looking at the villa.

It was broad daylight, with the sun shining brightly, yet a strange chill emanated from the villa, coming from nowhere.

Opening his Heavenly Eye and scanning the villa, he found no abnormalities. It might be due to the strong yang energy during the day, so Fang Shen was not concerned. He closed his Heavenly Eye and called Li Yan to start moving in.

Neither of them had much luggage. Li Yan had a few suitcases, and Fang Shen was almost empty-handed. Cleaning the villa took a lot of time. After a busy session, they both broke a sweat, and the blood circulation improved, making the chill less noticeable. Li Yan also returned to normal, chatting and laughing.

The girl had no ulterior motives, and Fang Shen managed to get some information from her, confirming that Li Yan was from the Li family.

The Li family was also a prominent clan in Linhai, even more powerful than the Fang family. Li Yan seemed to have a high status in the Li family, and Fang Shen had once met her at an event, which is why he recognized her. As for himself, he had always been low-key in the Fang family, a dispensable figure, so Li Yan had no impression of him and did not recognize him.

While chatting with Li Yan, Fang Shen quietly waited for night to fall.
