Chapter 36

After testing the motion recognition engine, Zhang Qiu immediately began to consider the matter of renting a place.

If he were to look for a house himself, even with specialized rental websites and convenient search engines, it would still be a major project.

However, if you know programming and have strong programming skills and high technical expertise, everything will become much simpler.

Zhang Qiu quickly wrote a small program to assist in finding a house, which could capture data, search for keywords, intelligently filter, and freely edit filtering conditions.

With Zhang Qiu's technical skills, he almost didn't need to think; he immediately conceived the program in his mind. The rest was just typing out the code that had been formed in his mind.

With Zhang Qiu's typing speed, it took only a few minutes to type out all the code, quickly search, run, and compile it.

The entire process took less than ten minutes. Zhang Qiu opened the small software and quickly entered various conditions he had in mind.

Soon, all the data from major rental websites that met his conditions were captured.

As Zhang Qiu added more conditions, the number of houses in the list decreased, and in the end, there was only one left.

"Uh, only one house meets the conditions. Are my conditions too strict?" Zhang Qiu couldn't help but doubt. But after looking at his conditions again, it seemed none of them could be abandoned. One house is still a house, after all.

This was a shared apartment. The location of the house and all its conditions fully met Zhang Qiu's requirements. As for whether it was shared or single, Zhang Qiu did not specify.

Only one house came up, and it was a shared one. Zhang Qiu decided to check it out first. If it wasn't satisfactory, he could lower his requirements later. Finding a house is usually like this: list out the conditions in your mind, list the ones that meet the conditions, and if it doesn't work out, lower the conditions and select the best one from the remaining options...

Without the auxiliary program Zhang Qiu wrote, it would have taken a lot of time to collect this information and compare the conditions of the houses.

Looking at the rental requirements, it said "limited to girls," and "better if you can cook well."

In the past, seeing "limited to girls," Zhang Qiu would definitely retreat and not dare to contact them.

Now, however, he was not afraid at all. Instead, he was eager to try, hoping the other party was a beautiful girl and that he could successfully share the apartment.

Since he decided to rent, he had to give it a try. After some consideration, to avoid being directly rejected, Zhang Qiu sent a text message to inquire.

If he called, they might hear it was a guy and reject him outright, leaving no room for negotiation.

First, he contacted them via text message, obtained the address, and made an appointment to view the house. Then, once he entered the house and met them, there would be room for maneuver.

Whether using the reason of helping a female friend rent a house, or practicing his persuasion skills, or directly using his charm, he had options. If he was rejected over the phone, he wouldn't even have the chance to see the house, and that would be a real dead end.

"Hope it's not a perverted guy trying to trick girls into sharing the apartment." After sending the text message, Zhang Qiu thought to himself.

After all, he had heard of such incidents online. Some guys deliberately rent a suite and post on websites that it's only for girls, tricking girls into sharing the apartment to get closer to them.

As a man, Zhang Qiu naturally didn't want to encounter such a situation.

Soon, the other party replied, saying the house was still available and welcoming him to view it.

So, Zhang Qiu continued to send text messages and made an appointment to view the house on Sunday afternoon.

...

Saturday night passed quickly, and the next morning, Zhang Qiu continued to study the source code of the motion recognition engine. The morning was fruitful, and he successfully extracted a simplified version of the motion recognition engine.

This simplified version of the engine had very simple functions, or rather, it was very specialized and targeted. It was specifically designed for confidentiality and could be slightly modified and compiled into software for various mobile phone platforms, even camera platforms, or directly embedded into the systems of these mobile platforms.

The success of this software had already given Zhang Qiu a vague plan.

Seeing that it was almost time to meet for the house viewing, Zhang Qiu quickly tidied up his clothes and hair, went to the cafeteria for a meal, and then left the school gate and took a taxi to the destination.

The house was also in Yuxi District, but it was in the university town.

Yuxi District is known for its education sector, with the largest industry being education and the most populous profession being students. All commercial and service industries exist to serve the student and teacher market.

Whether it's middle schools or universities, Yuxi District is full of prestigious schools. The main campuses of the best universities and high schools in the entire Suxian City are all located in Yuxi District.

However, middle schools are more scattered, while universities are more concentrated, forming a university town.

The house Zhang Qiu was looking for was located in the university town area. It wasn't too far from the high school, but it wasn't too close either.

The main reason he chose to rent in the university town instead of near the high school was that there were fewer acquaintances, which would reduce disturbances and make it easier to keep secrets. Additionally, the population in the university town was more concentrated, and the atmosphere was more open and lively, making it less oppressive and more vibrant, allowing one to experience a sense of youth.

Following the address, Zhang Qiu found the neighborhood, an old-style complex called Kexueyayuan, which looked similar to the faculty housing in universities.

In such a neighborhood, although there were security guards at the gate, there was no visitor registration system. He directly entered the neighborhood and found the building where the house was located.

Just as he approached, before entering the stairwell, Zhang Qiu received two consecutive system prompts: "Within 30 meters ahead, a beauty (quasi-provincial level) has been detected. Within 30 meters ahead, a beauty (city level) has been detected."

Indeed, the university town lived up to its reputation, with many beautiful girls concentrated in one place. At least two city-level beauties lived in this building, and although no provincial-level beauty was detected, a quasi-provincial beauty was already significant.

However, he wondered if the girl living in the house he wanted to rent was a beauty.

Checking the door number, Zhang Qiu finally found the house he wanted to rent and rang the doorbell.

After waiting for a while, the door finally opened. Before he saw anyone, he heard a sweet, smiling voice say, "Hello, classmate, who are you looking for?"

Clearly, the girl had already seen Zhang Qiu through the peephole. By her voice, she was definitely a beauty, but looks are never determined by voice alone.

However, Zhang Qiu was already somewhat satisfied. Even if it wasn't a beauty, living with a roommate who had a pleasant voice would be a bonus!

Lifting his head, Zhang Qiu saw the girl's face. He was slightly surprised; she was a great beauty and looked very young, probably around his age.

At first glance, she had a certain grace, poised and elegant, with a demeanor that exuded a noble and goddess-like aura.

Her features were also very delicate, on par with Lin Lai, though her skin was not as fair as Lin Lai's. However, her skin tone looked more sun-kissed and healthy, and compared to most girls, her skin was still quite fair.

Seeing such a beauty, Zhang Qiu instantly decided to rent the place.

Zhang Qiu smiled and said, "Hello, classmate, I'm here to rent the place."

"You're the girl who said she wanted to view the house? But you're a guy!" After Zhang Qiu explained his purpose, the girl's expression turned from surprise to confusion. This surprised and confused expression, combined with her voice and words, made her look very cute, almost making Zhang Qiu feel a sense of "cuteness," as if his heart was melting in the sunlight.

This was a cute girl similar to Ning Lan but even more beautiful. No matter what, he was determined to rent here.

Since the girl didn't immediately close the door, it meant there was still a chance. And her cute and innocent appearance seemed easy to deceive.

"I am a guy! I'm not a girl, and I never said I was a girl," Zhang Qiu said.

The cute girl poked her slightly chubby cheek and said, "Oh, we don't plan to share with guys. Please leave."

At this moment, the system suddenly prompted: "Comprehensive Main Task (Acquaintance): The Bond of Sharing. Persuade two beautiful roommates to successfully share the apartment and get to know them. Task Difficulty: Hard. Reward: Master Chef (Provincial Level), Character Recognition Engine (Intermediate Technology)."

What the heck! This task is hard and a comprehensive task, and it rewards two items, both of which are of high level.

Having completed eleven tasks, Zhang Qiu had already grasped some patterns. Generally, for slightly difficult tasks, the rewards are usually at the same level as the beauty. For example, a city-level beauty-related task rewards a city-level skill, and a provincial-level beauty-related task rewards a provincial-level skill.

For hard tasks, the reward level often increases, so a city-level beauty would reward a provincial-level skill.

So, the girl in front of him must be at least city-level? No wonder she looked as good as Lin Lai. Could the other roommate also be a city-level beauty? Otherwise, why would the task be so difficult and the rewards so rich?

Generally, the more beautiful a girl is, the less friendly she is to men. It's not necessarily that they have a bad personality, but rather that most men don't meet their standards.

Especially after Zhang Qiu learned about charm and allure, he understood even more.

For example, if a girl's charm is as strong as an arm, or even a leg, and a man's allure is only as strong as a finger, or even a thin red line, how can he attract her attention?

Similarly, a girl with insufficient charm cannot attract a man's attention, which is the relative aspect.

However, a girl's charm is most closely related to her appearance. Her personality, background, and other factors also play a role, but they are not as direct as her appearance.

A man's allure, on the other hand, is more related to his status, background, wealth, and power, with appearance and personality playing a smaller role.

Without time to think more, seeing the girl about to close the door, Zhang Qiu quickly thought of the line in the rental information that said "better if you can cook well" and immediately called out, "Hey! Wait a moment! I can cook well." Although he couldn't cook now, after completing the task, he could claim the provincial-level cooking mastery and make delicious food without any problem.

"Ah... you can cook well? Really?" The cute girl, who was about to close the door, stopped and asked curiously.

She turned out to be a cute foodie!
