Chapter 64

In the construction site, it was impossible to get a good rest. Although the soundproofing in the car was excellent, Chu Ying had been woken up long ago by the roar of the machinery. He opened his sleepy eyes, took out his phone to check the time, but first saw several unread messages on the screen.

After reading the messages, Chu Ying couldn't help but laugh. All the messages were from the same person, and their content was the same, warning Chu Ying not to spread what happened in the car last night. Needless to say, all these messages were sent by Wen Jing.

"Rest assured, as long as you don't say anything, I won't mention it," Chu Ying replied, then got out of the car.

Pushing open the door to Ling Siyi's office, he found only Ling Siyi working inside. Ling Xuan, Wen Jing, and Chu Xin were not there.

"You're awake? There's food in the kitchen, go and get something to eat!" Ling Siyi looked up, said a few words, and then buried herself in her work again.

"Where are the others?" Chu Ying asked, frowning.

Ling Siyi replied casually, "They left early this morning. Wen Jing said she would take Xin Xin to see the new school, and Xuan Xuan went with them."

Chu Ying smiled bitterly. He had planned to spend this time before school started with Chu Xin, but the girl had gone out to play without his permission. However, it was for the best; with Ling Xuan and Wen Jing around, no one would dare to bully Chu Xin.

"This girl, she just ran off without a word. Doesn't she know her big brother will worry?" Chu Ying muttered.

Ling Siyi said, "Xin Xin cooked breakfast early and waited for you, but you kept sleeping. She didn't want to disturb your sleep and didn't let anyone wake you up, so she had no choice but to leave."

Pausing, Ling Siyi continued, "Xin Xin only has you as her family. When you have time, spend more time with her. Children from single-parent families often have psychological shadows, and especially for her, an orphan before she was recognized by you, she needs a sense of security from you."

Chu Ying nodded thoughtfully, which was also his own thought. "I'll go find her after I eat. Such an important matter as transferring schools can't be done without my involvement."

Ling Siyi said, "I'm glad you understand. Wen Jing said they're going to Qingyang No. 1 High School. Go there to find them."

Chu Ying placed his hands on the desk, looking at Ling Siyi's slender figure under her professional attire, and joked, "As Xin Xin's sister-in-law, even if it's just theoretical, you should show some concern for your little sister-in-law. Why don't we go together?"

Ling Siyi replied coolly, "I've already told Wen Jing. She's responsible for finding the school, and I'll cover all of Xin Xin's school expenses. Does that count as concern?"

Chu Ying said, "I get it."

"What do you get?" Ling Siyi was a bit surprised.

Chu Ying said, "You're being so nice to Xin Xin, trying to win me over indirectly. Actually, you don't need to do that. I'm easy to talk to. If you all come after me, I'll be happy to accept."

"Go eat quickly!" Ling Siyi ignored the narcissist.

Chu Ying grinned and went into the kitchen behind the office. After eating and drinking his fill, he called Huanzi and asked if he had time to help him choose a school for Chu Xin. Huanzi agreed without hesitation.

Before Chu Ying returned, Huanzi had been taking care of Chu Xin. From this perspective, Chu Xin's dependence on Huanzi was greater than on Chu Ying. Huanzi treated Chu Xin like his own sister. Although Huanzi hadn't been to school for long and couldn't offer any useful advice about Chu Xin's schooling, he still chose to go, showing how much Chu Xin meant to him.

Chu Ying had just come out of the office building when he met Huanzi.

"Where's Xin Xin?" Huanzi asked, seeing only Chu Ying.

Chu Ying opened the door of the Hummer and replied, "She went with the boss's sister. Get in the car, let's go."

Huanzi was wearing work clothes, covered in dried mud, a typical construction worker. He had never even seen a car like the Hummer, let alone sat in one. Looking at the leather seats, Huanzi smiled awkwardly, "I don't want to dirty the car. I'll go change clothes, wait for me here."

Chu Ying put his arm around Huanzi's shoulder and pushed him into the car, saying, "We may be poor, but we must have spirit. We can't feel inferior to anyone. What's the big deal about getting it dirty? Cars are made for people to drive and sit in!"

Huanzi couldn't argue with Chu Ying and gave in, but he didn't dare move, afraid of dirtying the leather seats.

Chu Ying lightly patted Huanzi's chest, and Huanzi's back involuntarily pressed against the backrest. Chu Ying smiled, "Enjoy the feeling of being the boss. Let me, the driver, serve Mr. Luo."

Huanzi smiled awkwardly, "You're full of tricks!"

The car started and quickly sped down the mountain.

On the way, Chu Ying called Chu Xin and learned that they had just set out and hadn't left Qingshan Town yet. He told them to wait where they were.

After hanging up, the car's speed suddenly increased, and in just twenty minutes, they saw Ling Siyi's Audi R8, surrounded by three Wuling cars. A group of people were sitting on the roofs, holding baseball bats and shouting.

A fierce look flashed in Chu Ying's eyes. These people had clearly touched his sore spot. If Chu Xin was frightened, he could foresee their fate.

Huanzi also noticed the change in Chu Ying, and he patted Chu Ying's shoulder, saying, "Find out the truth first. Don't let Xin Xin worry about you."

Chu Ying sighed lightly, "I know."

The Hummer slowly parked by the roadside. Knowing Chu Ying's character, Huanzi was afraid he would act rashly, so he got out of the car first.

"What are you blocking the road for? Move aside!" Huanzi's tone was slightly angry.

Chu Ying's eyes lit up. He noticed that Huanzi was actually angry, though not very obvious, but it was a good sign. Huanzi, who used to be a meek and easily bullied "country bumpkin," was different now.

"None of your business, get lost!" A thin man in a tank top, shorts, and sneakers, with a mustache, shouted angrily.

Huanzi turned to the man with the mustache and said, "Then you should move aside and let us through!"

The man with the mustache raised his eyebrows, saw the Hummer parked behind, and looked at Huanzi's work clothes, feeling confused. Huanzi looked like a bricklayer, so how could he have such a high-end car? This made the man with the mustache extremely uncomfortable.

"Give me a thousand yuan for the road fee, and I'll let you through!" The man with the mustache said with a sneer.

Huanzi, who was not good with words, was both helpless and angry. "If you don't move, I'll call the police!" He took out his phone.

At this moment, a man jumped down from the Wuling car, snatched Huanzi's phone, and swung a baseball bat at Huanzi's head, cursing, "F*ck! I'll let you call the police!"
