Angel could understand Vespaniâs stance, but if the information was really about him, itâs likely the Fire of Magic, Midir, had already known about his coveting of the Elemental Sprites.
So, how would Midir react?
After Vespani spread the information, he slowly descended and sat at the cave entrance.
Angel didnât intend to expose Vespani, preferring to wait and see, curious about what Midirâs next move would be. Would he react immediately, or stay put? Anyway, Angel was confident, as he hadnât actually taken any Elemental Sprites yet.
Thinking of this, Angel instructed Earl Mi to continue monitoring the outside changes, while he closed his eyes and entered the Wilderness of Dreams.
Angel entered the New City Construction Area.
Compared to the previous desolation, the New City Construction Area was now bustling, with buildings of exotic styles rising from the ground, and people busy going in and out.
Most of the people here were Wizards who had recently arrived from the Barbarian Cave, among them many Apprentices handling construction tasks.
Among them, Angel saw familiar faces, such as one person he had met before in a small cabin not far away.
It was a standalone tin cabin, resembling the elements of the Steam Age at first glance, but the roofs incorporated oriental style flying eaves. The fusion of these two completely different styles didnât clash but felt quite intriguing.
The sign outside the cabin read âWhispers in the Nightâ.
The name seemed mysterious, yet it was actually a tailorâs shop. Inside, a young female apprentice was busy tailoring clothes, with black waterfall-like hair, emerald eyes, and striking beauty, her most distinctive feature being her elf-like pointed ears.
Angel hadnât interacted with this apprentice before, but he knew of her.
âWitch of the Nightâ Sibyla.
The reason Angel knew her name was because her mentor was âSage of the Nightâ Kaylar.
Angel did not conceal his gaze, and though Sibyla was working, her keen inspiration made her aware of his stare.
Sibyla lifted her head in confusion and looked over. When she saw Angel, she was first taken aback, then displayed an incredulous expression.
Though Angel rarely showed himself publicly after advancing, he was very famous among the apprentices of the Barbarian Cave, as he was the only one in recent years to have crossed the Wizard-level divide and was a member of the Research and Development Institute. Sibyla had even heard that this strange world was developed under Angelâs leadershipâŚ
Under her slightly shy gaze, Angel slowly opened his mouth and said, âPardon my intrusion, maâam, but has there been any news from Serum lately?â
The reason Angel approached her was that Sibyla and Serum shared the same mentor.
Seeing Sibyla reminded him of Serum. He wondered if Serum had recovered after his sleep under the Black Classic. Moreover, Angel had heard from his brother Lyon that Serum had recently disappeared, seemingly leaving the Sky Mechanical City; who knows where he went?
âSir, are you referring to Mr. Pustin?â Sibyla took a deep breath, suppressing her shy expression and regaining her usual composure.
âYes.â Angel nodded.
Sibyla had also heard about Serumâs acquaintance with Angel; she tidied up her words and slowly said, âSerum participated in the New Star Tournament and hasnât returned since. I donât know much about him either. But I heard from my mentor that there seems to be a problem with his Prison Codex, and he might be coming back to have the mentor take a look at it recently.â
A knowing look flashed in Angelâs eyes; it seemed Serum was not in Sky Mechanical City because he was preparing to return to the Barbarian Cave.
âI see, thank you, maâam.â After learning the news about Serum, Angel didnât engage much further with Sibyla, nodding politely before leaving the tailorâs shop.
Sibyla watched Angelâs departing figure, lost in thought for a long time.
After leaving âWhispers in the Night,â Angel made his way to the command center outside the New City, where there were numerous buildings intended for task dispatch before the city opened, as well as the city planning center.
Angel arrived at the provisional city hall, where he had sensed through the Gate of Dreams authority before entering the Wilderness of Dreams that the Tree Spirit was present.
He intended to inquire with the Tree Spirit if there had been any changes at the relic during his absence, the progress of the Wilderness of Dreams, and Sandersâ situation.
The city hall was large and spacious, and Angel navigated familiar turns until he reached the room where the Tree Spirit resided.
To Angelâs surprise, the door to the room was not locked, and he saw not only the Tree Spirit but also someone he was very familiar with.
Dororo.
Seeing Angelâs arrival, the Tree Spirit was somewhat surprised, âDororo was just asking about you, and here you are, what a coincidence.â
Angel looked at Dororo, who responded with a gentle smile.
âPerhaps itâs not just a coincidence?â Angel walked to Dororoâs side and sat down.
The Tree Spirit paused for a second, seemingly realizing something, and looked at Dororo with complex eyes, âCould it be you knew Angel would come here, so you came?â
Dororo pondered for a moment, âI didnât know; this world almost blocks my divination.â
The Tree Spirit muttered, âThatâs more like itâŚâ
However, before the words were finished, Dororo said: âI felt a psychic intuition that there might be a gain coming here today, so I came.â
Tree Spirit: ââŚâ Psychic intuition? How is this different from prophecy?
Tree Spirit looked at Dororo with a palpitating gaze. This guy is truly becoming more and more abnormal, even more so than Maya. Even in this Wilderness of Dreams where prophetic abilities are suppressed to the extreme, he can still manage to pull off some psychic intuition.
Angel observed Tree Spiritâs changing expression for a moment and then turned to look at Dororo beside him: âDid you have something to discuss?â
Dororo nodded and whispered a few words in Angelâs ear.
After listening, Angel furrowed his brows slightly. After a pause, he nodded to Dororo: âI understand.â
Having finished speaking, Dororo stood up and bowed slightly to Angel: âIâve said all I needed to; Iâll take my leave.â
Angel did not ask him to stay, as the matters he planned to inquire about involved high-level secrets of the Barbarian Cave, which Dororo did not need to be exposed to for the time being; perhaps thatâs why Dororo sensed it and took the initiative to leave.
After Dororo departed, Tree Spirit looked at Angel: âWhat were you two discussing? Something about the Starry Path?â
Angel chuckled: âThose arenât very important matters.â
Though Tree Spirit looked dubious, he refrained from asking further: âWhat brings you to me? By the way, I heard from Frode that youâve returned to the Old Earth Continent?â
âŚ
Angel returned to reality by the next day.
After consulting Earl Mi, he confirmed that no creatures had arrived the whole night.
âNo reaction from Fire Element Midir?â Angel felt puzzled and muttered to himself: âOr is it waiting to respond until I actually abduct the Elemental Sprites?â
Unable to comprehend the situation, Angel temporarily set it aside.
With no Elemental Sprites coming from outside at the moment, Angel sat in the room pondering the events in the Wilderness of Dreams.
He asked Tree Spirit about recent activities at the Barbarian Cave; the advancement plans for the Wilderness of Dreams were proceeding smoothly under secrecy, the main structure of the Tea Party was beginning construction, and although there hadnât been any overt movements from Seeds, there had been some signs.
The situation at the Barbarian Cave was generally promising, but noteworthy was that Sanders hadnât logged in for some time; it remains unknown what the issue might be.
Angel made a mental note of this, though he wasnât overly concerned given Sandersâ prowess, assuming thereâd likely be no major issues; perhaps something was occurring on Floraâs side leading to no login.
Despite his confidence in Sandersâ abilities, Angel set a marker as a precaution: Should Sanders enter the Wilderness of Dreams, the Ability Tree would promptly alert him.
Aside from this, what most caught Angelâs attention was what Dororo mentioned to him.
At the time, Dororo whispered in Angelâs ear: âI have seen that image too.â
âYou walk in the darkness, ahead is a glowing path.â
This was the prophecy image Hua Que Que saw previously. Angel hadnât paid much attention then, due to the random nature of prophecy images, which might not be significant. Hua Que Queâs vision could very well involve him strolling at night and the glowing path might simply be the street lamps illuminating the sidewalk.
Yet now, Dororo informed him that he saw the same image too.
Two prophetic Baiyuan Clan talents having seen the same prophecy image caused Angel to suspect something was amiss.
Perhaps the image hinted at some kind of secret?
While Angel was pondering without gaining any insight, Earl Mi transmitted a mental pulse: âFaith Pan Rui is heading towards the cave.â
Angel set his thoughts aside temporarily and opened the door.
Faith Pan Rui was somewhat surprised to see Angel open the door: âI didnât expect Sir to also come outâI have something to discuss with you.â
âWhat is it?â Angel noticed that Faith Pan Ruiâs gaze held a sense of solemnity and seriousness, seemingly weighed down by concerns.
Faith Pan Rui: âSomething feels off. Based on Dangrossâs progress from yesterday, some of its underlings should have arrived three hours ago⌠Even if Elemental Creatures are busy, Elemental Sprites should be here, but none have appeared, which is odd.â
Angel thought for a moment and found it peculiar as well, considering itâs already midmorning, and Elemental Sprites, even if resting at night, should have awakened by now. Yet indeed, not a single one had shown up.
Angelâs eyes subtly shifted; could it be that Fire Element Midir has acted?
If Fire Element Midir truly knew of his intentions regarding Elemental Creatures, it might indeed have the power to directly order all Elemental Creatures to avoid approaching here.
Faith Pan Rui: âSo Iâm considering going out to see whatâs happening.â
Angel scrutinized Faith Pan Rui deeply. If his hypothesis held true, perhaps Faith Pan Rui, rather than wanting to understand the situation, intended to distance himself from here?
After some thought, Angel ultimately agreed to Faith Pan Ruiâs request.
He also wished to discern what Fire Element Midir intendedâits isolation of all fire-element creatures; is it planning to initiate a conflict with him? But clearly, he had only coveted them without taking any actionâwould Fire Element Midir really break ties so abruptly?
