Su Wen finished dancing with Yang Feixue.
When he returned to his seat, Pan Yu, the fat guy, looked at him as if he didn't recognize him. All he heard was Pan Yu pointing at Su Wen and saying, "Boss, from now on, you're my boss. I'll follow you."
Su Wen carefully examined Pan Yu and shook his head, "You'd better not follow me. You're so fat, I can't afford to support you. You should go and trouble others instead!"
Pan Yu immediately lost his spirit.
Li Huan also sat next to Su Wen. Many people came to chat with Li Huan, but Li Huan wasn't very enthusiastic. Eventually, fewer and fewer people came to chat, until no one did.
Seeing that the surroundings were quiet, Su Wen said, "Li Huan, why did you come?"
Li Huan looked somewhat helpless, "It's all because of my mom. The Shengshi Auction House invited her, but she didn't want to come, yet she didn't want to lose face with the Shengshi Auction House. So she thought of me, which made me rush to buy a new set of clothes, even neglecting my cultivation."
Su Wen smiled silently. Although he had never met Li Huan's mother, he could imagine that she must be an extraordinary woman.
Seeing that the time was about right, Su Wen stood up and said, "You guys keep chatting, I'll go back first."
Su Wen indeed needed to go back; Yi Xue was waiting for him to teach her martial arts.
"Boss, I'll see you off," Li Huan said.
"You just got here, wait a bit before leaving!" Su Wen shook his head. He had come by taxi and decided to go back by taxi as well.
"Alright, I have some things to do too," Li Huan thought for a moment.
Su Wen left the banquet hall.
He looked up; the weather was nice today.
Outside the Menglong Manor, the driver saw Su Wen come out and hurriedly said, "Young man, are you done with your business?"
"Done, let's go back," Su Wen said, a bit embarrassed, "I made you wait here, and you must be hungry, right?"
The driver smiled, "No, the people from the manor just gave me something to eat. I have to say, the food at Menglong Manor is really good. They gave me a couple of dishes, and they were delicious. When I go back, I'll have something to brag about. Among so many taxi drivers, I'm definitely the first one to have eaten at Menglong Manor."
Su Wen smiled without a word.
Little people have their own ways of living. There was nothing to laugh at, nor anything to despise.
Different perspectives on life make everything different.
The driver's driving skills were excellent. He chatted with Su Wen while driving, not feeling any problem at all, despite the many sharp turns on the mountain road.
"Young man, you don't know, I have a son. He's in the fourth grade this year. He's very smart, always in the top three in his class. At the last parent-teacher meeting, the teacher praised him a lot. I..." The driver was excitedly talking when he suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Su Wen's face changed slightly. He noticed the driver was slamming on the brakes.
"Bad, the brakes are broken!" The driver was terrified. If the brakes failed on such a mountain road, the consequences could be imagined.
"How could this happen?" Su Wen became anxious.
"This car was just serviced less than three days ago. How could the brakes fail?" The driver muttered, "Young man, don't panic. I'll think of a way, there must be a way."
Su Wen smiled bitterly.
He looked ahead. If he remembered correctly, the next few turns were the steepest. At the current speed, the car would definitely plunge off the cliff, leading to a tragic end.
"Young man, there's... no way out." The driver tried a few more times, his face turning gray, "The brakes must have been cut. We're going to die here."
Su Wen didn't speak. At the current speed, it would be hard for him to survive.
"My son will turn ten in three days. I..." The driver's eyes were unfocused.
Su Wen was about to encourage the driver not to give up when he heard a "crack." The car skidded to the edge of the cliff. Seeing this, Su Wen knew there was no time left. He used all his strength to kick the car door open and shouted to the driver, "Give me your hand, we'll jump out!"
The driver was stunned, trying to extend his hand.
Who would want to die if they could live?
"Boom," the car hit the guardrail on the road, smashing it to pieces.
Su Wen felt the car sliding down. He reached out to grab the driver, but heard a "rip." All he grabbed was a piece of the driver's sleeve. Looking back, he saw the driver and the car rolling down the cliff.
Su Wen clung to the twisted guardrail, his face showing uncontrollable anger.
It was clear that if it wasn't a problem with the car, it must have been done intentionally. Among the people Su Wen had offended, only two wanted him dead: Sun Yue and Li Dong. These two had left early and knew he had come by taxi, making them the prime suspects.
Su Wen struggled to climb up.
Then, he found a less steep spot and slowly climbed down the cliff. After about twenty minutes, he found the car wreckage and the driver, who was already dead inside the car.
An innocent life had been lost before his eyes, and it was because of him.
Su Wen clenched his fists tightly.
He noticed something in the driver's hand. When he opened it, he saw a photo of a little boy, who must be his son.
The little boy was smiling, with a school in the background.
Next to the driver was a half-open wallet. Su Wen opened it and saw an ID card with the name Wu Datian.
"Brother, I'm sorry. I'll avenge you," Su Wen said softly. He looked into the distance, where the neon lights of Jiangning City glowed. Never before had he felt such a strong urge to kill.
A few minutes later, Su Wen left.
He walked alone, thinking about many things.
He had never considered himself a good person for the sake of his ideals, but he couldn't accept that someone had died because of him. Wu Datian's death, ultimately, was largely his responsibility.
He didn't want to kill, but sometimes he had to.
A dagger appeared in his hand, the same one he had used to pin a thug's hand to the wall.
Now he regretted not taking a gun after killing Fang Dahong. Using a gun to kill seemed much more convenient.
Jiangning City was quiet.
Su Wen called the old beggar.
It was late, but the old beggar wasn't resting. There were faint sounds of a woman on the other end.
"Help me find two people, they..." Su Wen hung up after saying that.
Ten minutes later, the old beggar called back.
"Little Brother Su, I found them, they're at Shengfeng Nightclub," the old beggar said proudly, "A new beggar saw them at the entrance of Shengfeng Nightclub, but these two seemed to be in a bad mood and kicked him a few times."
Su Wen nodded, "Good job, I'll give you an extra 200,000 as a reward."
"Thank you, Little Brother Su!"
"Today, I didn't call you," Su Wen said and hung up.
At the entrance of Shengfeng Nightclub.
Su Wen noticed that even though it was almost ten o'clock, there were still many people inside.
He changed into a black outfit and put on a cap that covered his face before entering.
In the hall, there were no signs of Sun Yue or Li Dong.
Su Wen went upstairs.
He carefully observed and found that the second floor was all private rooms. He wasn't sure which one Sun Yue and Li Dong were in.
Just as he was thinking about whether to knock on each door, he heard a familiar voice, Li Dong's voice.
"Master Sun, wait a moment, I'll be right back after using the restroom," Li Dong said as he opened the door, clearly drunk.
Su Wen quickly turned his face away and pushed open the door to the room Li Dong had just left.
Inside the room.
Sun Yue and two women were there.
Coincidentally, they were all facing away from Su Wen.
Sun Yue was playing with the woman in his arms, while the other woman kept leaning on him. No one noticed Su Wen's arrival.
Su Wen sneered and walked a few steps to Sun Yue's side. He struck two hand knives, and the two women fainted.
Sun Yue didn't know what had happened. He pushed the woman in his arms and said, "What are you doing? Get up quickly!"
As he finished speaking, a sharp dagger was placed against his neck.
Sun Yue trembled, turned back, and was completely stunned.
