Chapter 10: Rob the Bank (2)

“Oops...”

The inside of the bank was chaotic and bustling, and utterly disordered.

There were so many people milling about that avoiding them was a task in itself. I even considered dispelling my invisibility.

Only after walking in from the entrance for quite a while did I finally have the leisure to look around.

People were frantically checking their bags for money, others were poking around out of curiosity, and groups of people were murmuring together... The staff were shouting at the top of their lungs, trying to calm the customers.

In short, it was a complete mess.

‘What the hell did that kid do?’

Even though I knew I needed to move towards my target, I found it hard to suppress my curiosity.

I eventually made my way to where the most people had gathered.

Then,

‘Wow...’

I could roughly grasp the situation.

Surprisingly, one of the reserve vaults behind the staff area had been blown up.

There didn’t seem to be any casualties, but the sight was enough to make anyone lose their composure.

A hole as big as a manhole, dust and rock fragments scattered everywhere, and charred banknotes...

I didn’t know how he did it, but the kid’s actions were far from just a distraction. It was outright terrorism.

‘What a bold move.’

In any case, thanks to the kid’s effective distraction, things would be much easier.

I moved quickly.

The target was the secret vault in the basement of the building.

The first obstacle was the guards at the stairs leading to the basement.

From what I had checked earlier, they were quite large. While I was strong, I couldn’t take them down instantly. I needed to find a way to slip past while they were distracted.

When I reached the stairs, I was somewhat taken aback.

‘...They’re not here?’

There was no one. Even when I peeked down the stairs, I couldn’t see anyone. It seemed they had all left their posts, leaving only a barricade with a sign that read “No Entry for Unauthorized Personnel” at the entrance.

Did they all chase after the kid?

While the situation was absurd, it couldn’t have been better for me.

‘Perfect.’

I immediately jumped over the barricade and went down the stairs.

As soon as I reached the basement, a solid iron door caught my eye.

I didn’t know how the bank’s security was set up, but there was nothing special here.

Just that one iron door. Once I got past it, the money would be right there.

I walked up to it.

On the right was a device for entering a password.

It was far from any advanced biometric system. It was just a regular door lock, the kind you’d see in any apartment.

‘Let’s set it up.’

Before entering the password, I thought for a moment.

What if the kid was lying? It could lead to a very awkward situation.

Hmm.

But I soon shook my head.

There was no reason for him to lie. We had no personal grudges, and he had no reason to put me in a difficult position. Besides, he had already taken the risk to draw attention.

‘Okay, let’s go.’

I entered the password.

Then,

Beep.

Clank.

The door opened.

‘Wow.’

It was surprisingly simple.

Of course, I didn’t get overly optimistic. Things could get a bit more difficult from here.

Behind the iron door were two bank employees, looking at me—or rather, the door that had opened on its own.

“What, what is this?”

“The door opened on its own?”

I quickly closed the door and whispered.

“I’m an intruder who snuck in here. If you don’t want to die, don’t speak and just nod. Got it?”
