〔I will transfer you to another world. It's best to choose how you want to be transferred; you have three hours.〕
Suddenly, a voice that wasn't a voice resonated in my head.
Surprised, I looked around, trying to gauge the situation.
Looking around, I saw a completely white world with nothing in it.
Some people were looking around just like me, some were shouting, some were jumping for joy, and others were kneeling in shock. There were many people gathered together.
I couldn't tell exactly how many people were in this space.
They were all clumped together, and beyond them, there was just a white void.
I had no idea what to do with this sudden turn of events. When I tried to remember what I was doing just a moment ago, my head throbbed.
"Why..."
The more I tried to remember what I was doing, the worse my headache became. Unable to bear it, I stopped thinking about myself and observed my surroundings again.
Around me, some people were talking in small groups, some were moving their fingers in empty space, and others were clutching their heads and kneeling... Despite the confusion, more people were starting to move around.
Should I talk to someone...?
I looked around, but I couldn't find the right words to start a conversation.
The people around me ranged from elderly individuals around 70 years old to young teenagers. There were more men than women, probably around a 7:3 ratio, with more women in their teens and twenties. There were no women my age nearby.
There were also quite a few people who weren't Japanese, but they were speaking the same language. Their pronunciation was perfect, but it felt a bit off.
After observing for a while, I heard voices saying things like, "Open your status screen and decide your profile," "I want to be a hero," and "I want to be a mage."
"Interesting... but how do I do that?"
When I muttered "status," words appeared on a transparent acrylic-like board.
- Name
- Race
- Gender, Build
- Magic
- Skills
- Abilities
- Unique Skills
Remaining Points: 300
- Abilities: HP, MP, SP, STR, INT, DEF, RES, AGI
It looked like a status screen from a game.
I looked at the screen, trying to decide what to do.
If this transfer to another world is real...
The way I allocate these stats will be crucial for my future.
However, I've never played a game where you create a character by allocating stats.
I used to play games in my student days, but I wasn't very skilled. I only managed to reach the upper ranks in a game like *M〇n Hunter* once. I've only played games where leveling up solves everything.
I have no idea how to create a strong character.
Looking around, everyone seemed to be focused on their own status screens, fiddling with them. Younger people and those with good communication skills were gathering to discuss things, but I didn't have the courage to join them.
In the first place... if I consult someone and follow their advice, will I have to follow their instructions in the future?
I can't entrust my entire life to someone I just met... No way.
I can still accept my own decisions. Since I don't know anything, I can't rely on others.
First, the name.
I couldn't think of anything. When I thought about using my real name, my head started to hurt.
The headache became so severe that I gave up on thinking about it... I apparently can't even remember my own name.
I couldn't understand the cause of the headache.
If I can't remember myself, I shouldn't be able to remember anything from my student days... but I could remember playing games. I couldn't understand the pattern.
"Ugh..."
When I tried to figure out why, my headache worsened again. I gave up on thinking about my name and focused on the status screen.
There were several races to choose from: elves, dwarves, and other fantasy staples, as well as beastmen, birdmen, dragonmen, angels, and demons.
You could also choose half, quarter, or mixed blood. The stats varied by race.
Humans had average stats of around 15 for STR, DEF, etc. Other races had stats ranging from 10 to 30.
If you chose a pureblood, some stats could exceed 50, but for races other than humans, it would cost points. The more points you used, the higher the stats.
Gender didn't affect stats. Regardless of the race, there was no difference in stats between males and females. If stats did affect abilities, I would have chosen the better one, but since they didn't, there was no need to change my gender.
Magic included water magic, fire magic, etc., with levels from 1 to 10.
- Fire Magic 1 (10 points)
- Fire Magic 2 (20 points)
- Fire Magic 3 (30 points)
- Fire Magic 4 (50 points)
- Fire Magic 5 (70 points)
- Fire Magic 6 (90 points)
- Fire Magic 7 (120 points)
- Fire Magic 8 (150 points)
- Fire Magic 9 (180 points)
- Fire Magic 10 (220 points)
Level 1 magic cost 10 points, and the cost increased with each level. Level 10 magic required a total of 220 points.
Skills included swordsmanship, spear skills, and martial arts, with levels up to 10. Abilities also had 10 levels, with the same point costs.
There were many types, but the point costs were uniform.
Abilities were overwhelming in variety, making it hard to choose. Anything not related to weapons or magic was classified as an ability, and there were so many that I couldn't decide which was best.
Further down were Unique Skills.
There were three Unique Skills listed.
- Sword Etiquette (50 points), Sword Path (150 points), Sword Mastery (250 points)
They had three levels, with points costing 50, 150, and 250. Choosing the best one would leave little room for other choices.
After looking through the status screen, I started to think about what to do.
An hour had already passed since the voice first resonated in my head.
If I do nothing and the three hours pass...
I might be left here without any further instructions.
I decided to hurry and choose my stats.
It seemed like fewer people were around compared to the beginning. If people were disappearing after choosing their stats, I couldn't afford to take my time.
First, I was interested in the Unique Skills <Intuition> and <Luck>.
Unique Skills required a lot of points. <Intuition> was at the second level, costing 150 points, while <Luck> was at the first level, costing 50 points. The next level, <Great Luck>, would cost 150 points.
Choosing <Intuition> would use half of my points.
The new world was likely to be dangerous. With so many combat-related abilities, it was better to assume a dangerous environment...
To survive, I thought I would need intuition and luck.
I'm not someone who has good luck. When given a choice between two options, I often choose the wrong one when it matters. I might get lucky when it doesn't matter, but not when it does.
During exams, I can narrow down the choices from five to two, but I always choose the wrong one. I can answer essay questions correctly, but I always choose the wrong answer in multiple-choice questions. If I'm told I lack the skills, that's that... but I want a bit of luck.
Unique Skills related to luck included <Luck>, <Great Luck>, <Extreme Luck>, and <Premonition>, <Intuition>, <Super Intuition>. There was also <Heavenly Luck>, but it felt different.
I wasn't sure how <Luck> and <Intuition> differed, but I wanted one of them.
To check the details, I selected <Intuition> and touched it, but the other Unique Skills turned gray.
Touching it again didn't change anything. Even touching <Intuition> again didn't change anything.
...Huh?
Once chosen, can't it be changed? Is there no confirmation button?
I thought I could check the details, but it seems touching it confirmed the choice.
...Well, I'll believe it's not a bad choice.
In a dangerous situation, would it be better to "luckily survive" or "sense danger and avoid it"?
If possible, I'd rather avoid danger altogether. If <Premonition> warns of bad things, then <Intuition> is better... I think.
While <Luck> might improve item drops in RPGs, which is a significant advantage, I'd rather prioritize survival.
I decided to choose the Unique Skills I wanted. From now on, I'll choose things I really need. Since I can't change my choices, I need to be careful.
Remaining Points: 150.
I started over, thinking about my race.
Human, Elf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Beastman, Birdman, Fishman, Dragonman, Fairy, Angel, Demon.
These could be pureblood, half, quarter, or mixed blood.
Humans had average stats. Dragonmen, angels, and demons had high overall stats.
Elves and dwarves had extreme stats, either very high or very low.
Beastmen, birdmen, and fishmen had distinctive physical features and varied stats, but they had higher HP.
Compared to purebloods, half-bloods had lower stats. Quarter and mixed bloods had even lower stats, but the distinctive features of beastmen, for example, were reduced, and they had marks on their bodies, making them less distinguishable from humans.
For points, humans were the exception, with purebloods costing 150 points, half-bloods 100 points, quarter-bloods 60 points, and mixed bloods 30 points.
Based on the high stats, I chose the angel race.
Demons seemed too risky if discovered. If I became a target of a witch hunt, it would be problematic, so I decided against it.
I also disliked the reptilian eyes of dragonmen.
Angels seemed to have high affinity for light magic.
Since there was no healing magic, I assumed light magic was for healing. I wanted to learn healing magic for emergencies.
Angels had shining silver hair and golden eyes.
Half-angels also had shining silver hair and golden eyes.
Quarter and mixed-blood angels had silver hair, but the shine was reduced. Their eyes were golden but slightly cloudy. The distinctive features of angels were their hair and eye color.
I didn't want to stand out in the new world, but quarter and mixed-bloods could change their appearance. I decided to make my silver hair closer to white, with less shine, and my eyes honey-colored.
The only difference from humans would be my eye color, so I wouldn't stand out. If my eye color became a problem, I could wear glasses.
Okay, my race is mixed-blood (angel).
I chose a female with an average height of 158 cm.
Angels were tall, so my build was listed as small and my face looked young.
When I chose mixed-blood (angel), I learned the ability <Blessing>. It seems that choosing a race sometimes comes with a set ability.
Since <Blessing> was listed next to light magic and holy magic, I decided to learn both at level 1.
Hmm? I don't remember seeing holy magic when I first looked at the magic types.
Maybe there are some magic types I can't learn without the right affinity.
Next, I chose water magic.
I heard that if you get lost during exploration and run out of food, having water can help you survive. Water is important. If I can create water, it should reduce danger.
For now, I chose three types of magic.
Additionally, choosing water magic unlocked some combination magic. It seemed useful, so I decided to take it.
Next, I chose a skill. What weapon should I use?
Honestly, I had no idea what weapon to choose.
I decided to take unarmed combat. Being able to fight without a weapon is important.
Levels 1 to 3 cost 10 points, level 4 cost 20 points, and levels 7 and above cost 30 points. I decided to take unarmed combat to level 3.
I needed to be able to move and respond to situations.
For other weapons... Bows seemed good for keeping distance, but I wasn't confident I could use one well.
Spears would be cumbersome in tight spaces like caves. Axes were heavy and had less reach than swords, making them harder to use.
I decided to go with a sword, but I could change it later. I set the skill level to 1.
Remaining Points: 30.
"What should I do..."
If I go to another world and fight monsters...
Others might allocate their points to become stronger. My choices won't make me strong.
I allocated points based on what I needed to survive, not to become strong. It's understandable, but I should consider other options if I'm not strong.
After thinking about it...
Having a profession would help me survive, not just fighting.
In any world, having a specialized skill would ensure I don't go hungry. However, I don't know what kind of world I'm going to. A production skill would be safe.
For production skills, I chose alchemy and synthesis. I wasn't sure what the difference was, but having both couldn't hurt.
I also chose enchantment, which seemed useful for adding attributes to weapons, armor, and magical items.
Since I lack social skills, I'd probably only make things for myself.
Finally, I chose the name Crein, inspired by a character with a similar appearance.
Okay, 45 minutes left.
This is it!
When I confirmed my choices, the next screen appeared.
After character settings, it was time to choose equipment... with a budget of 3,000G for weapons and armor.
An iron sword cost 750G, a copper sword 250G, and a wooden sword 100G... A steel sword cost 2,250G...
Armor... Steel armor and shields cost 2,250G, iron 750G, copper 250G, and leather 100G. Defense values were: steel +30, iron +15, copper +7, leather +3...
I could try on the equipment, so I did.
Iron and copper were quite heavy. Wearing full armor made it hard to move.
I decided to use a small shield and a chest plate, opting for lighter, more mobile equipment.
Leather was lighter than copper and iron, so I used leather for everything except the shield and chest plate. I would focus on protecting the most important parts.
Iron is prone to rust, which could be a maintenance issue.
I wanted to save money, so I chose copper. It's better to have money left over for emergencies. Money is important.
Copper sword, copper small shield, copper chest plate, leather gauntlets, leather boots, leather hat, leather cloak.
Total: 1,150G. Remaining: 1,850G.
I was still unsure about the value of the currency, but this was the best I could do.

My stats were more suited to a magic user than an average character. I was concerned about my low DEF, but with armor, my overall stats weren't bad... I hoped.
I learned spells for magic and skills based on their levels.
As expected, healing magic was light magic. It was good to have a healing method. Now, I could handle injuries.
Okay, let's go. To the new world.
