Chapter 44 : Harvest
After we left 《Demon’s Den》, we spent a whole day to reach the closest village, and from there, we hired a coach to go back to Romburgh.
I walked toward Mani’s smithery while propped on Edda’s shoulder.
「Oi, take care of this noisy guy.」
Upon our arrival, Edda pushed me to Mani with her usual vexed-like voice.
「Dean!? What happened to you!?」
Mani abandoned her job as she rushed towards me in a hurry.
… On the way out from 《Demon’s Den》 until mid way, our journey went fairly well without encountering any monster since I made the full use of 《Odo Perception・Low》 while propping Edda on my shoulder.
But then, things went awry when a stray few Mouse Zombies suddenly chasing after us in UG 2nd floor, forced us into a battle.
We somehow managed to repel those Mouse Zombies.
But, I suffered a large wound in that battle, rendering me unable to walk properly too.
Despite managing to barely defeat Fedor, we might have died just by a single encounter with a small fry monster, If we didn’t meet other adventurers along the way.
After pushing me onto Mani, Edda left the smithery at once.
Different from me, it seems that she had recovered far enough for her to be able to walk on her own.
She was quite a glutton despite her slender frame.
Her resilience far exceeds mine.
After receiving two days of treatment from Mani who didn’t ask anything about my condition, I finally recovered enough to be able to walk on my own.
At least I could walk around normally.
「Ah, good morning, how do you feel right now?」
Mani who just returned from her outing greeted me.
「I think I’ve recovered enough. Sorry for troubling you Mani, you really saved me…」
「I’m not troubled at all. I am just happy to be able to help you, Dean…. But, I wish you would rest properly for a while. You really are unlucky when it comes to a party…」
Mani heaved a deep sigh.
… She might be referring to the time I was left alone as a bait by Gilbert.
「I mean… to think that person is that 《Cerberus Fang》 himself. The army had spread the rumor about them saving two adventurers who were attacked by him had already become an open secret amongst the adventurers in the guild.」
「… Those b*astard were the one who left us who were exhausted after the battle. In addition, like h*ell I want to be saved by those a*ss holes.」
That Magus Officer, Canvia’s face crossed in my mind.
… I hope that I would never meet that bast*ard again.
Those a*ss ho*les wouldn’t hesitate to kill both me and Edda back then if they felt like it.
Though I’ve heard a few shady rumors about them, I never expected that it had reached such a rotten level.
「… Oh right. I completed the Battle Bone’s transaction that you entrusted to me. Since it’s really hard to redeem the expensive one, I just check the market price and came back with the rest of the money.」
Mani placed a money pouch on top of the desk.
「Four Goblin’s battle bone is sold for 20k Temis, and two Mouse Zombie’s battle bones for 80k Temis. Overall, it’s 100k Temis.」
Since I had no idea when Edda would come to visit me to ask for her share, I asked Mani to check the market price for the selling price of our loots from the previous adventure.
「100k Temis, that makes 50k Temis for both of us. Though there’s still plenty of profit left even after deducting the cost for supplies, the price of Solus’ demon core has yet to be included to that 100k.」
To be honest… I, a former porter, still couldn’t get used to the feeling of suddenly getting tens of thousands of temis in my hands.
I mean, it feels unreal to me.
「… There’s few things left unsold but, we should be able to fetch around 200k Temis, at the lowest, from selling 《Mineral’s Demon; Solus》’s demon core.」
「2-200K TEMIS!?」
W-Wait a minute, was that core really so expensive?
As expected of a C rank devil’s demon core.
I mean, it was far apart from my expectation when we first arrived in 《Demon’s Den》.
「In the first place, the adventurers who can hunt C rank Devil were in the minority. In addition, this demon core is compatible with alchemy and matter type magic. These two points alone already make this demon core so high in demand but, it’s not that versatile and only useful to around 30% of enchanted weapon’s users.」
「I-I see now…」
『YAAAY! THAT’S MEAN MORE DELICIOUS FOOD FOR THIS MISTRESS!』
A cheerful voice came from 《Demon Eater Sword; Beelzera》.
… I wish we could talk about money when we’re away from Beelzebub.
「T-That’s… must wait till we share the income with Edda you know.」
「… Next is the matter about Fedor’s wrecked spear. It’s price might fluctuate around 30% since we’re not using proper examination on it, but of course, it’s up to you.」
Yes, we hauled Fedor’s enchanted spear, 《Wind Dominator’s Spear; Hail》 wreckage too.
We couldn’t sell it as it is since it was too conspicious along with its former owner but we could sell it at bargain price after dismantling it.
「The spear is made of Amoneir[Tempestuous Wind Steel] ore. It amplifies its user’s wind element magic. I touched this kind of ore before, so you can be reassured of this assessment. This alone will get you around 200k temis. 」
I was speechless.
My net income just raised to 200k temis in one go, after splitting with Edda of course.
「According to what Fedor had told you, the core is the demon core of 《Weather Vane’s Evil Spirit; Pazuzu》. I don’t have much information about what kind of devil that is but, you can sell the core for around 300k Temis. All I know about 《Weather Vane’s Evil Spirit; Pazuzu》 is the fact that it is also a C rank devil like 《Mineral’s Demon; Solus》, the difference between the price of their core might be related to the tier within their rank.」
"
"
「T-300k, temis!?」
「The battle bone was the battle bone of a storm wolf. It’s an extremely troublesome C rank demon beast who could manipulate wind element with the long horn on their head. You might be able to get around 250k temis from selling it.」
「T… 250… k.」
That amount of money alone was enough to make me dizzy.
C rank enchanted weapons could be sold for such a high price huh.
「… The metal, the demon core, and the battle bone, all of them can be sold for around 750k temis.」
… It reached that number with Adventurer’s selling price.
We should be able to make more money if the spear was sold as it is without being dismantled first.
After we add the manufacturing cost from the blacksmith, another 2 million temis might be added to the selling price.
「If we total everything, the amount will reach 1050k temis…」
『We can buy a lot of Lacow with that much money right?』
Beelzebub was humming happily in my mind.
What in the world is this devil going to do with those living Lacow.
「… But, selling everything isn’t a simple matter. The army might’ve neglected this broken weapon and most likely won’t take it back from you but… they might seize your fortune if you suddenly sell it all at once.」
「Yeah, that’s… what most likely will happen.」
「There’s a rule that forces us to submit a report to the army. Rather, I’m curious for the reason behind that Magus Officer called Canvia leaving this broken spear which can be sold for one million temis. I think you must tell that Narc tribe’s girl about this matter.」
「Eh, ah, you’re right.」
… I was under the assumption that that man called Canvia had only forgotten to pick the spear up because he was too happy to be able to catch Fedor.
In addition, the broken spear might be not that interesting to him compared to many other enchanted weapons in Fedor’s box.
It feels like, no matter how good the materials, it’s like useless treasure without a suitable user and blacksmith to recreate it.
Or else, the selling price of the broken spear is nothing but spare change for him.
Maybe, that Canvia wasn’t someone who rose through the rank from being an adventurer.
『Anyhow, since you’re already fit enough to move around, start cooking food for this mistress, Dean! I have yet to eat ever since the start of your 《Demon’s Den》expedition! The dishes are up to you since you already will make a profit from your previous adventure!』
「O-Okay, I’ll start right away.」
But, my profit isn’t that much since I couldn’t sell Fedor’s dismantled spear and there’s Edda’s share too.
『This is our contract! This mistress will lend you her power in exchange for your delicious food!』
「Ah, you’re rig— wait a minute?」
Even though I got carried away by the atmosphere, I don’t remember having that kind of agreement with Beelzebub.
Thus, I borrowed Mani’s kitchen and foodstuffs while pondering about that nonsense contract with Beelzebub.
