Chapter 7 : Kobold

We were exploring 《Romburgh’s Underground Ruin》’s 3rd floor as I use 《Odo Perception》 to get a grasp on our surrounding situation.

We encountered two battle rats along the way but I crushed them easily with Edda’s help.

How strange.

The Demon Beat I’m most vigilant against in the past is nothing more than a reliable source of income for me now.

「Mani, can you reduce the light of the mana lamp? I find something that look like our target.」

「Yeah, I know.」

Mani nodded to me and then reduced the light of the mana lamp.

「Is it Kobold?」

Edda asked me.

「Most likely. Otherwise, it’s another demon beast which level close to kobold.」

… C-rank Demon Beast, Kobold.

It was amongst the most powerful demon beasts I fought up until now.

Though they’re generally less troublesome than Solus… most damon beasts rarely use magic, which in turn impede 《Demon Eater Sword; Beelzera》’s ability to seal their skill.

In fact, Kobold was still too strong for the current us.

On the other hand, we would be greatly benefited from defeating it.

Together, Kobold’s battle bone and Kopald should amount to 200k temis.

Since its level was also higher than both Edda and I, we should be able to get a lot of Odo by defeating it.

It should be enough to raise our level.

It’s decided that Edda and I would attack it from the front while Mani acts as our support from behind.

「They’re right over there… seems like in the middle of a nap. It isn’t moving and its odo sign is weak. Let’s kill it as fast as possible.」

I went ahead slowly along with Edda.

There, I saw a kobold leaning against the wall, in its hand was a giant axe.

It was two heads taller than me, its muscular arms seemed like it was powerful enough to squash a human waist.

The wall it was leaneing on was shone with blue color.

That might be the Kopald that we’re talking about.

The Kobold’s eyelids twitched for a moment.

「… NOW!」

Edda sprinted ahead faster than me.

Previously, she was already leaning forward, and now, she was sprinting toward the Kobold with speed that far surpassed mine.

「GYOOO」

The moment Kobold was fully awake, Edda’s enchanted sword had already pried into its pale blue abdomen.

Though I saw the moment she swung her enchanted sword, the blade was coming to a stop midway through.

「… as expected, its skin is tough.」

Edda jumped back as she pulled out her enchanted sword from the kobold’s abdomen.

Kobold’s great axe tore through the place where Edda stood just a moment ago.

「《Im》！」

I decided to get more information about our opponent while catching up with Edda.

Its level was… around the level of a normal Kobold.

But of course, it was ten levels higher than me.

The offensive power of level thirties was far greater than the current me.

The current me could only withstand its attack once.

Its battle art was common one to- no, it wasn’t!

The normal battle art of a common Kobold was 《Roar[E]》.

I’ve never heard about this 《Tempest Roar[C]》 before.

It was definitely an upper tier battle arts.

Giving priority to surprise attacks apparently was a bad move against this guy.

Edda was forced to retreat since our surprise attack had failed, seeing its status with 《Im》, I should’ve taken it out from the front by summoning Beelzebub with 《Petit Demordi》 from the very beginning.

We failed because I wanted to save 《Petit Demordi》 until the very last minute.

Beelzebub’s power was really powerful, therefore, I couldn’t use her repeatedly with my current level.

The devils that aren’t affected by perception type skills would appear as we entered even deeper into the 3rd floor.

They’re like random encounters amongst the dungeon but… I never expected for us to stumble upon this crappy situation because I saved my trump card for the last minute.

The kobold took a deep breath.

「GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!」

And then, it used its roar.

Storms rampaged through our surroundings.

Edda used the flow of the storm to leap even further behind to prevent herself from creating more gaps.

The Kobold was drawing even closer toward Edda.

The Kobold’s great axe was about to graze Edda’s abdomen.

「Watch out!」

「GYAAAAAAA!」

The kobold’s arm struck Edda’s slender body right from the front.

「EDDA! ARE YOU OKAY!」

「… No problem, I jumped back before it hit me.」

Edda vomitted a mouthful of blood, and stood up like nothing.

「GAAAAAAAAAAA!」

The Kobold then swung its great axe to the side as it saw me approaching.

I couldn’t dodge it.

In addition, I have to snatch its 《Tempest Roar》 as fast as possible.

It’ll be game over for me if I received that attack from the front, I had no choice but to shift my posture and readjusted it again as fast as possible.

Though Edda avoided a fatal wound, if I received the same kind of onslaught of attacks which started from 《Tempest Roar》, I doubt I could get out of that situation alive.

The kobold’s great axe passed by my liquified body.

Adjusting the timing for 《Moon Reflection》 was really difficult but I had no choice but to do that since it took tons of magical power to maintain it for a long time.

But, since the kobold’s movement was way too easy to read since a while ago, it was a simple matter to use feints against it.

After I bypassed Koblod’s great axe, I slashed at its exposed abdomen with 《Gluttony’s Edge》.

I found Kobold’s 《Tempest Roar》 amongst its Odo as soon as my sword’s blade stabbed into its abdomen.

「I DID IT!」

《Demon Eater Sword; Beelzera》 then snatched that part of Odo from the kobold.

『Uhm, its Odo smells a little bit like a beast. But, this mistress likes the power.』

Beelzebub muttered with a satisfied voice.

「RAAAGH!」

Before I leaped back, I left a little gift to the Kobold by swinging my sword up from below.

Kobold’s pale blue eyes were glaring at me.

This guy couldn’t use its 《Tempest Roar》 anymore.
