Chapter 37 : Bishop Ornoa

I pointed my enchanted sword toward Dig.

The personal level difference between the adventurers and the grey cult members who gathered in this place was big.

Though I could deal with the adventurers or demon beasts whose level was higher than mine due to the power of Beelzebub, I was still a far cry from being a high rank adventurer.

Even though I launched a singleman’s attack, isolated from my comrade, and received a barrage of magic, the fact that I survived through those ordeals was strange enough already.

As if that ordeal was not hard enough, DIg who specialized, and was armed with close combat battle art and magic was rushing at me, the hardest type of opponent for the target of my 《Gluttony’s Edge》.

「HAAAA!」

Mani leaped up toward Dig’s exposed back and brandished her 《Evil Spirit’s Battle Hammer; Gadras》.

Red steam was coming out from her entire body.

It was the special skill of her enchanted weapon, a skill that increased her brute force, 《Ogre Fighting Spirit》.

Dig turned around to the side as he faced Mani.

Mani’s enchanted hammer struck the place right beside Dig.

「Hohou? you missed, charging like a bull just because of a little bit of threat. Are you an idiot?」

Dig was about to stab at Mani with his dagger.

I swung my enchanted sword from behind him, aiming for his head.

Dig caught my blow with his enchanted dagger as he kicked Mani to gain momentum to jump back.

「KYAA!」

Mani’s slender body flutters in mid-air before rolling on the ground.

「MANI!」

Dig was grinning upon seeing my and Mani’s expression.

「I see, so you make such a conspicuous attack in order to buy time for this guy who got isolated behind our line. In short, you love this man huh.」

Dig was laughing as he pulled his enchanted dagger back before he started stabbing at me dozens of times with it.

His attack was fast, and powerful.

He even maintained the most effective distance to make the full use of his dagger’s reach.

「THEN! I’M GONNA KILL THIS MAN RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! HAHAHAHAHAHA! I’M GONNA DIG HIS INNARDS OUT AND LINING THEM UP IN FRONT OF YOU!」

My shoulder and hips got covered with scratchs in my attempt to protect my own life from his dagger.

「YOU WANT TO SEE IT RIGHT? THE INSIDE OF THE MAN YOU LOVE! I WANT TO SEE THAT TOO, THAT’S WHY I KILLED A BRAT WHEN I WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD. IT STILL COMES OUT EVEN NOW IN MY DREAM!」

「YOU…!」

The sword that I raised overhead to find an opening got flicked to the side by his dagger.

「Now, die.」

Dig pushed his dagger toward my abdomen.

I side stepped while twisting my body to the side

The dagger pierced the side of my navel.

I barely dodged that attack since I activated 《Moon Reflection》 the moment I felt the pain in my abdomen.

That was a really close call.

「Hou, I see now. A rare battle art huh. or else… special skill of your enchanted weapon?」

"

"

Mani stood up again behind Dig.

「Some gutsy woman you got there. To be able to stand up after receiving my kick.」

Dig sent a sidelong glance to Mani as the sides of his lips raised up.

I regained my balance since I managed to gain some distance from Dig after his last attack.

I guess I had no choice but to squeeze the little remains of my mana to summon Beelzebub again.

As Dig and I were glaring at each other, a magic circle formed between us.

And then, a big man and a little girl appeared from inside the magic circle.

The big man might be around forty or fifty years old.

He had a pointed jaw, hook nose, and bizarrely long slit eyes, as if he was the recreation of a devil’s image.

I can tell from his robe that he was a member of the grey cult.

The man was holding onto the shoulder of a little girl with his left hand.

I couldn’t see the little girl’s eyes since her head was covered with a big hat with somesort of veil to cover her face.

She wore a gaudy dress with a lot of laces and frills on it.

「Space-time magic(Paradox)… and, middle-distance teleportation!?」

Though having the weapon that has paradox alone was already rare, a mage who can utilise its power to the point of teleporting was the rarest of the rare.

Though the army wants such personnel too, sadly they’re unlucky in that regard.

I mean, the number of the people with such a skill in this kingdom alone might be equal with the number of my fingers.

It wasn’t too exagerrate to say that anyone who mastered space transfer magic was a winner for life.

「B-Bishop Ornoa… leave it to us, for praying…」

The moment that pair appeared, Dig released his fighting stance, and retreated.

No, to be exact it wasn’t just him, practically every single member of grey cults were stiffened upon seeing the pair’s appearance.

The adventurers who were previously in a disadvantage against the grey cult’s member quickly regaining their formation upon seeing their opponent’s weird attitude.

「… Ooh, is this sadness? I believed that your deep faith would be able to easily annihilate those second rate adventurers and yet… Seeing the situation, I’m left with no choice but to stop my prayer and participate in the battle.」

The man called Ornoa fell to his knees and started crying right in the middle of the frontline.

Due to the bizzare shape of his eyes, his crying face looked even more bizarre than before.

A chill ran down my spine upon seeing that.

Even though he looked full of openings, my instinct warned me that I would die if I approached him carelessly.

The girl by his side kept standing, unperturbed about what happened to bishop Ornoa.

「O beloved guide Tahlia, tell us what shall we do? show me the path that we should tread!」

Still in that kneeling posture, bishop Ornoa then embraced the girl whose age might be only a third of him on her waist.

「S-SO THIS FU*CKING LOL*ICON IS YOUR LEADER HUH!」

But, an adventurer couldn’t read the air and charged toward bishop Ornoa.

The girl called Tahlia then separated herself from bishop Ornoa and stood in front of the adventurer, raising her arm while making a strange movement in the air with her arm.

To be honest, I had no idea about what she did.

But, at that moment, the head of the approaching adventurer got twisted, he died right on the spot, bleeding profusely from his mouth and eyes.

Her movements were too fast, and powerful on top of that.

「What a short tempered fellow. This is why I hate these faithless dullards. I can’t even hear Tahlia’s revelation with ease.」

Bishop Ornoa was standing slowly.

He revealed an ominous smile, the exact opposite of his crying face from before.

「Playtime is over… let’s finish this quickly. We still have many things to do. Just gouge their hearts out for offering and be done with it.」
