Chapter 49 : New Shadow

The shadows of eight people gathered in the graveyard of Romburgh city.

Everyone was wearing jet-black clothes which merged with the darkness of the night.

A woman whose eyes were covered with a bandage was standing in front of the rest, leading them.

Her skin was as pale as a corpse and her lips were also violet instead of red.

「Bishop Ornoa-dono… It seems he already started his journey toward the end of dream. Though I’ve already been anxious when he only brought a small number of people with him to get some hostage for the sake of negotiating with the Army… I never expected that he ended up losing against those mish-mash adventurers.」

The woman was biting into the tip of her index finger.

Her teeth tore through the skin of her index finger, her blood was dropping on the ground from that wound. But, none of the other seven people tried to stop her.

She was one of the three archbishops of the grey cult, Ridys.

She was even more radical than bishop Ornoa to the point that the army made a wanted poster featuring her face and spread it around.

She could create almost an infinite amount of clones of herself by using advanced tulpa thanks to her enchanted cane, (Mirror Kingdom’s Cane, Alice).

In the past, she turned the table against six army personnels by herself, and amongst the homicidal who have yet to be captured by the army, she was amongst the most dangerous list.

「《Trapezohedron of Dark Radiance》 is… something that should be owned by us, the one servant of Uroboros-sama. If we analyze it, we might be able to awaken Uroboros-sama who is asleep in Lilar(dream world). That’s why we’ve to take it back from the hand of the Magus Assistant of this region. Though I’m saddened by the fact that we can’t working together with bishop Ornoa-dono since he already left to start the journey to the end of the dream but… we definitely going to regain that enchanted weapon with our own hands.」

Bishop Ridys spoke as she raised her 《Mirror Kingdom’s Cane, Alice》.

A high pitched laughter suddenly resounded at that moment as if to pour cold water on them.

The cultists turned toward the direction where that voice came from at once.

Because interrupting the bishop who held the highest rank in the grey cult was a felony.

Much less to say laughing during their speech, it was a crime worthy of death penalty.

「Servant of Uroboros… is it? It’s so funny that I can’t hold back my laugh anymore. You people say that you’re the servant of the dragon who was sealed more than ten thousand years ago but, do you even know just what kind of creature you’re referring to?」

A man with orange colored hair suddenly appeared, leaning on the gravestone so close to them without any of them detecting his presence.

Though his bang was long enough to the point of covering his entire left face, it was fairly obvious at glance that he has a handsome feature.

The way he spoke was as if he was mocking them.

「Fufufu… in my opinion, the reason you’re using just sounds like a big fat lie but well, it seems that fu*cked up logic is only acceptable within your own group. Can you teach me one or two things? I might accompany you to waste some time if you’re willing to.」

Bishop Ridys glared at the man in silence.

She knew that the man who appeared out of nowhere in front of them was not an ordinary man.

He was someone who could get closer to the eight of them, enchanted weapon users without any of them noticing his presence, and still dared to approach them even after they discovered him.

No sane person would act this way unless they’re perfectly confident with their own power.

「Just kidding, I am just trying to break the ice you know? Originally, I was gonna let you off since there’s something that made me a bit curious but, I’ve changed my mind. Now you’ve to accompany my leveling.」

Bishop Ridys raised her 《Mirror Kingdom’s Cane, Alice》 overhead.

「《Mirror Kaleidoscope》!」

A huge magic circle appeared which was then followed by another eight figures around bishop Ridys.

It was an advanced tulpa which belonged to B-rank, a magic that created clones her own double, 《Mirror Kaleidoscope》.

The moment 《Mirror Kaleidoscope》 was invoked, the other seven cultists were moving at once.

Everyone was moving around to surround the orange haired man.

「I give up, fifteen against one is just too unreasonable. It might be fighting a frontal battle but… uhm, which one is it? Dammit, now I forgot about it too quickly.」

The orange haired man was showing a flippant attitude despite the incoming attack.

Eight bishop Ridys pointed 《Mirror Kingdom’s Cane, Alice》, magic circle deployed on each of the tip of the cane.

「… Using that from the very beginning will exhaust your mana. I mean, you’re not even hesitating to use attack magic right from the go. Are you trying to scare me to death?」

「Stop him, I’m gonna kill him with magic. He smells like a troublesome opponent after all. 《Blizzard》!」

Eight lumps of ice flew toward the orange haired man.

He was surrounded by the cult’s enchanted weapon users, he shouldn’t have anywhere to go.

Most grey cult’s cultists were ready to give their life for the grey cult.

That’s why none of them were complaining even if they were treated as disposable pawns and became the target of the bishop’s magic to kill their enemy.

「Guess I’ve no choice but to cheat a bit huh. Behold, one of the most valuable enchanted weapon in Ilmis(material world)…《Poral of Forgotten Time》.」

The orange haired man then raised up the golden pocket watch that he kept in his pocket.

It was a pocket watch without the hands of time.

「〖Time Ruler〗」

A magic circle with myriads colors appeared, and that orange haired man’s figure vanished from everyone’s sights.

Bishop Ridys opened her eyes in shock.

「Is that… teleportation? But, the invocation speed shouldn’t be that fast…」

When bishop Ridys was looking around, searching for the figure of that orange haired man, something like a mana thread was fired from her blind spot.

The thread was really small to the point that even bishop Ridys had only caught a glance of it.

The next moment, the head of her copy which stood beside her was beheaded.

「It should be a magic with high degree of accuracy but… it seems you missed the real body in the last moment」

The next instant, all the remaining six of Ridys copy were also beheaded, the contour of their bodies distorted before they dispersed into particles of light.

Even half of her underlings who were closest to her were torn from limbs to limbs or beheaded, rendering them immobile at once.

「Dear me, I killed seven bodies, and all of them turned out to be fake. Well the chance is one in eight after all, how unlucky I am. You’re right, it seems I really am underestimating you.」

Thereupon, bishop Ridys had finally noticed that the orange haired man was right beside her all along.

Her hand that gripped on 《Mirror Kingdom’s Cane, Alice》 trembled for a moment before it let go of the cane.

The difference between their ability was just like heaven and earth.

「I’ve heard that you’re the leader of those cultists but, that’s all you got huh. How can you give up that easily. I thought just what kind of amusing things you’re up to if you get your hand on that 《Trapezohedron of Dark Radiance》 but, I guess I’ve seen your bottom line. In the end, your faith is nothing more than a symbol, you people are just the gathering of psycho killers, isn’t it? You’re not even worth a penny to act as the messenger of Ouroboros.」

「W-What a—!」

The moment he said so, the orange haired man activated his handless enchanted pocket watch, 《Polar of Forgotten Time》 again.

「Well then, byebye. 《Time Ruler》」

The man’s figure vanished for the second time.

The next momet, the body of bishop Ridys and the remaining cultist were torn apart by something.

「Fufufu… I don’t really mind even if they messed up such a city a little bit, but it’s been a really long time since I found such an interesting toy which makes me really excited. Moreover, I’ve made some merit to fill my report.」

The man then licked his lips with his purplish red tongue, and left the graveyard of Romburgh city.
