The end of the month in the Hikawa household was always like a battlefield.

“The background toning is done. What’s next?”

“Okay, thanks. Just a minute”

“Sensei, a call from an editor at Kowasha──”

“What are we having for dinner? Another Chinese food delivery?”

……….And so on.

Because his home also served as his workplace, when the deadline for Kouichi’s manuscript was approaching, the inside of the home was filled with commotion, or rather, the people involved were in a frenzy.

Although Kouichi — the “manga artist” who should be the most on edge — was strangely relaxed, it was usually the people around him who would get irritated — his assistants.

“Actually, Kouichi! Aren’t we not gonna make it at this rate?” Astrid said with narrowed eyes, sitting across from him and working various image processing software on her computer. This blonde young wife busting Kouichi and everyone else’s butt had become a regular scene in the Hikawa household at the end of the month, just as much as Kouchi’s lack of a sense of urgency.

Also, as for Astrid, she was just an overseas cosplayer who came to Japan to learn about Japanese otaku culture, and she met Hikawa Kouichi prior to his debut, and they got married following their great love — was what on the surface.

“I wonder. Maybe we won’t make it. Hahaha,” Kouichi laughed carefreely.

“That’s why I always, always, always tell you to finish the sketch early…!”

“But you know, if nothing comes up I can’t help it; I mean, with ideas, God has to come down with them”

“Both sensei and the missus can save that kind of argument when we have more free time…!”

“I’m getting tired of Chinese food, how about having pizza!?”

Three-bedroom apartment — in that living / working room, in addition to Kouichi and his permanently staying assistant, Astrid, there were two assistants who were brought in only at the end of the month, and one person in charge of miscellaneous work; they each worked at desks gathered in an island-like formation in the middle.of the living room.

Then──

──Waahh, waahh, waahh.

The sound of a baby crying came up suddenly, perhaps affected by the tense atmosphere.

“…Eva, don’t go making Alice cry!”

“Please don’t be absurd,” said the silver-haired beauty — who was Evangeline — holding and rocking the baby in her arms.

By someone in charge of miscellaneous work, it meant her. Since Kouichi and Astrid would not have time to do house chores in front of a deadline, Evangeline, who had resigned from her previous job, would be called to take care of it.

Since Astrid had given birth to her first child — her first daughter Alice — half a year ago, Evangeline had also been added to take care of the baby. However, as an unmarried woman with no siblings of her own, there was no way that Evangeline had any experience in taking care of young children or babies. Especially when Alice started crying, she seemed like she was helpless.

“A baby’s job is to cry. I can’t just take away her job from her”

“Ah geez, you’re making excuses! ──Hand her!”

When Astrid left her seat and picked Alice up in her arms, Alice stopped crying immediately, perhaps instinctively really knowing it was her biological mother, or perhaps Astrid simply had some kind of a knack for holding her.

“Uwh… as cute as ever… I’m scared of my own child…” Astrid groaned as she watched her baby squealing in delight.

“Doting parent…”

“You said something?”

“No, nothing.” Evangeliine shook her head. “What a black workplace. I shouldn’t have changed my occupation if this was the case,” Evangeline complained, but she was still expressionless as ever.

“Eva-san, what did you do before?” one of the assistants asked with a wry smile. “You came from the same country as the missus, right?”

“My previous job was…” Eva said with one index finger up after tilting her head for a moment. “At a marriage agency.”

“Ooh, surprising”

“Not at all. It’s not obvious but I was good at it, you know?” Eva said without even a smile after taking a look at Astrid.

“I mean, sensei, we have to hurry──”

“Nnn─……” Kouichi groaned for a moment and then gave a small node. “Yep. Alright, Ast. I guess I’ll have to rely on you”

“──Again?” Astrid frowned. “It’s not good for your body if you use it too much, you know? Well, it’s better than staying up all night for several days, though.” Astrid walked up to Kouichi with their daughter in her arms.

Slowly, Astrid peered into his eyes with both of her eyes, and said: “…do your best, dear,” and then she gave a light kiss on her cheek.

From the side, that was just really, all there was to it, however, “oh yeah! I’m pumped up!” Kouichi said, and began to move his hand almost twice as fast.

“──Really, what was that?” one person still new as an assistant asked Evangeline.

“It’s the missus’ char… no. With a single word of ‘do your best,’ Hikawa-sensei manga making speed will double”

“What’s that, scary”

“I secretly refer the missus as a ‘walking doping machine’”

“What are you even saying!?” Astrid shouted, rebuking.

………

Ten and six years had passed since a boy met a golden-haired vampire.

Then he became a young man, and reunited with the vampire; four years since.

The young man — Hikawa Kouichi — graduated from his vocational school, submitted his work to Rookie of the Year Award, received an award — albeit a small one — and had one manga serialization each for a monthly magazine and a web electronic magazine.

He and the vampire — who had been his common-law wife and was his assistant — were officially married last year when she became pregnant. And at the beginning of this year, their first child was born.

“──Astrid,” Evangeline whispered as she took Alice from Astrid’s arms again to return to her assistant duties. “Are you, happy?”

“──Eh?” Astrid tilted her head for a moment. “Look, can’t you tell?”

“It’s very obvious, but just to make sure. In any case, I’m told to submit a periodic report even if I resign from the organization, and although it’s not much, I get paid if I submit report, you know”

“Then write this down in your report, okay? I’m so happy and happy, I’m so happy it’s scary, you know? This is that! the very picture of an ending!” said the golden-haired vampire princess with some kind of elated expression.
