Chapter 31

The few people outside the room were, after all, participating in the game for the first time, and each of them was somewhat nervous.

"Qixia." Lin'e called out.

"What?"

"You once said that different animals represent different types of games, right?"

"Probably."

After hearing this, Lin'e looked at the rat-person in front of her and then asked in a low voice, "What do you think 'rat game' is?"

Qixia was also considering this issue. If they didn't know the type of game in advance, Tian Tian's situation would be more passive.

But what does "rat" have to do with? 🄲

"The game that seems to be happening now fits the characteristics of 'rat.' It involves finding a target among many cluttered items," Qixia whispered. "Could 'rat' be a 'search' type game?"

……

Inside the room, Tian Tian first took a general look around and noticed that there were many shelves.

Each shelf was filled with boxes of various sizes, and there were at least a hundred of them.

Tian Tian picked up a box at random and looked inside, finding it full of miscellaneous items.

She thought for a moment. If she were to open each box and search through the contents within five minutes, she would likely not find the "Dao" no matter what, given the sheer number of boxes.

She then looked up and noticed that the small warehouse had only one incandescent light bulb, and the switch was on the wall beside her.

Tian Tian thought for a few seconds, and suddenly an idea came to her.

She gathered her strength and pushed over a shelf, making a loud noise.

The people outside immediately panicked.

"Hey! Girl, are you okay?" Qiao Jiajin shouted.

"I'm fine," Tian Tian called out loudly. "I just thought of a way."

Qixia thought for a moment and nodded. "Yes, it's indeed a good idea."

"Huh?" Qiao Jiajin was taken aback. "You know this too? Do you two have the 'secret sound transmission' from martial arts novels?"

The sound inside the room grew louder as Tian Tian pushed over all the shelves, scattering the boxes on the ground.

Various items spilled out.

Some boxes contained plastic plates and bowls, some contained old clothes, and others contained waste paper.

She then walked to a few intact boxes and stomped on them forcefully. In no time, the once-neat warehouse was in a mess.

Breathing heavily, she looked around and felt that the time was right. She then walked to the wall and turned off the incandescent light.

The room instantly plunged into darkness, and only Tian Tian's breathing could be heard.

"This..." Tian Tian looked around, slowly frowning.

In her memory, the small ball called "Dao" emitted a faint light. If the clutter was scattered on the ground, there was a high probability of finding the "Dao" in the darkness.

However, the moment she turned off the light, the entire room was plunged into complete darkness, with not a single ray of light.

She was a bit skeptical and bravely walked forward, kicking various boxes to expand her search area.

Why would a glowing ball completely disappear in a dark room?

After kicking for a while, Tian Tian felt that she had opened all the boxes but still found nothing that glowed.

At this moment, the rat-person knocked on the door and said, "Ten seconds left."

Tian Tian helplessly shook her head and turned on the light.

With the sudden light, she noticed that her feet were on a box of canned goods. The cans, which were originally in the box, were now scattered on the ground.

She reached out and picked up a can, reading the label to find that it contained "beans."

Tian Tian shook the can, and indeed, a "rustling" sound came from inside.

"I must be a fool..." Tian Tian gritted her teeth. "Could the 'Dao' be in these cans?!"

"Screech—"

The rat-person turned the handle from outside and pushed open the door. "Time's up, challenge failed."

Tian Tian was startled and looked up, facing the rat-person's eerie face.

The three people outside immediately rushed forward. Qiao Jiajin asked, "How did it go, girl? Did you find it?"

"No..." Tian Tian threw the can, standing up with a sad expression. "I suspect the 'Dao' is in these cans, but to open dozens of cans by hand within five minutes... isn't easy."

Qixia looked down. The cans were all filled with broad beans, and it made sense to hide the "Dao" inside.

But he still felt something was off.

Tian Tian reluctantly left the room and looked at the rat-person with some fear.

But the rat-person made no other move, just closed the door and continued standing at the entrance.

"So, it really is just losing a 'Dao'?" Tian Tian asked in a low voice. "She doesn't plan to take my life..."

The rat-person smiled and asked, "When did I say I would take your life?"

Qiao Jiajin, seeing this, understood. "I say... trickster, if that's the case... can we try again?"

"Try again?" Qixia frowned.

"We already know that the 'Dao' is likely in those cans. This time, we can go in and open the cans directly. She won't kill us anyway."

Qixia looked into his pocket, where he had only one 'Dao' left.

Initially, "Human Dragon" said that these 'Dao' were both their rewards and their 'stakes.'

It seemed that participating in these games required paying a certain number of 'Dao' as a bet. If they used too many 'Dao' here, they wouldn't be able to play future games.

"Girl, did you check all the other boxes?" Qiao Jiajin confirmed with her.

"I didn't search carefully, just opened all the boxes and turned off the light," Tian Tian shook her head. "I didn't find any glowing spots, so... the 'Dao' must be in a sealed container."

"Great, let me try again!" Qiao Jiajin nodded.

But at this moment, Qixia suddenly stopped him.

"Wait."

"Huh?"

Qixia looked at the rat-person and asked, "Can I hear the game rules again?"

"Of course!"

The rat-person smiled and turned to open the door.

Only then did they notice that the room was as new as before, with all the shelves and boxes back in place.

"Damn!" Qiao Jiajin was taken aback.

Lin'e and Tian Tian were also surprised.

The rat-person slowly walked in, looked around, and asked, "How about it, isn't my 'game' amazing?"

Qixia nodded.

The rat-person continued, "My 'game' is called 'Seek Dao.' The entrance fee is one 'Dao.' There is one 'Dao' in this room, and if you can find it within five minutes, it's yours."

After saying this, she smiled warmly again.

Qixia listened and slowly nodded.

"I want to play again," he said.

"Sure, no problem," the rat-person nodded. "You can play as many times as you want."

"This time, I'm betting my life," Qixia said.
