EP.3 Chapter 3
"By the way, since we're in the same class, I was a bit nervous about being late on the first day, but it's a relief to see a familiar face. Were you late too?"
"I... got lost on the way..."
"I see. We haven't even introduced ourselves. I'm Yun Siwoo. What about you?"
"Scarlett, Evandé..."
"Right, Scarlett. Since we were both late on the first day, it's a kind of bond. Let's get along well from now on."
"......"
Don't talk to me, you clueless kid......
Can't you hear the silent screams of the protesters condemning this fool?
My peripheral vision tingled, and my stomach churned under the gaze of the crowd.
So please, just turn around and sit down!
Chairs are supposed to have your back against the backrest!
No matter how much I silently screamed inside, this clueless protagonist just wouldn't take his eyes off me and kept smiling.
Maybe he was waiting for a response to his "let's get along" comment, so I nodded, and he finally nodded back, looking satisfied.
No, seriously, stop nodding and just sit down properly.
Just as everyone was looking at me and Yun Siwoo, something out of place caught my eye, the only one looking forward in the classroom.
As if it had always been there,
a giant bat-like monster was hanging upside down from the ceiling above the teacher's desk.
Seeing that, I realized anew.
This world is not a dreamy and loving place filled with joy.
At the same moment, a few perceptive students turned to look at the front of the classroom, and the monster opened its mouth.
"Everyone, evacuate the classroom!"
[■■■■■■■■■!!!!]
Someone shouted, and a terrible noise filled the classroom.
"No way. A monster? The Academy is supposed to be inside the barrier!"
"Damn, the door won't open!"
"The windows won't break either! It must be a high-level monster. We can't handle it on our own!"
Most of the students huddled at the back of the classroom to avoid the monster.
The classroom echoed with the screams of panicked students and the shouts of those trying to use their abilities to defend themselves.
In the midst of this chaos, only Sylvia and Yun Siwoo remained calm, standing in place and readying themselves for battle.
I, who was sitting quietly in my chair, was not included in this.
I knew these two would take care of it, so I was just staying put.
...To be honest, I was just staying still because I was a bit scared to move.
Unlike me, Sylvia was diligently casting a spell to vanquish the monster.
-Alf
-Ad
-Astra
With each line of the spell, a light like starlight sparkled around her.
High Elf, Sylvia Astra.
She was a contractor who could borrow the power of the star spirit in a world where spirits were hard to find, and the destructive power of her spells was already on par with that of a seasoned hero.
A sphere of light gathered in her palm, shining brightly as she completed the incantation.
She aimed her palm at the monster, which was baring its fangs and flying towards her.
"Intermediate-level monsters are long past my level."
The sphere of light flew towards the monster—
and passed through its body as if nothing had happened.
-Huh?
Sylvia, who was confident she could vanquish it in one hit, seemed taken aback and let out a sound of surprise.
Naturally, she didn't react to the monster's fangs lunging towards her neck.
Blood splattered.
It was the blood of the monster, now impaled on Yun Siwoo's sword.
With a heavy thud, the monster's body hit the classroom floor.
Yun Siwoo pulled out his sword, which glowed with a pure white light like his hair, and smiled at Sylvia, who was standing behind him.
"Are you okay?"
Sylvia replied softly, "Yes......"
It was the moment the protagonist planted a flag with the heroine.
And I was witnessing it up close.
It would have been nice to have some popcorn.
It's a bit disappointing that I can't see Sylvia's face, who fell in love with the protagonist at first sight, because I'm in the back, but it's still a touching scene to see up close.
Yun Siwoo, standing in a cool pose, shook the blood off his sword.
When he let go of the sword, it disappeared, leaving a trail of light.
Wow, thinking about it, if this kid has an inventory for his swords, why don't I have one?
I was suffering from relative deprivation.
Just as cracks began to appear in the classroom from the corpse of the monster Yun Siwoo had killed, a sound like a snap echoed, and the monster's corpse and all traces of the battle vanished.
To put it simply, everything that just happened was an illusion.
Moreover, it was a high-level illusion that only those who realized they were under an illusion could dispel.
Of course, it was no problem for Yun Siwoo.
The protagonist of "The Holy Swordsman of the Academy," Yun Siwoo, possesses a sword called the Holy Sword of Radiant Light.
The sword grants its wielder near-perfect immunity to illusions and enchantments, making them immune to any form of deception.
Yun Siwoo, the cheat character, had not just one but seven such holy swords.
"The Holy Swordsman of the Academy" is a ridiculously overpowered novel.
Some people can breathe fire, for instance.
Anyway, as everyone realized they had been under an illusion and were stunned, a woman dressed in a way that made her look like a magician entered the classroom.
She was Eve, known to readers as "Eternal Mama," the world's greatest illusionist, whose actual age was a secret despite her youthful appearance.
She was also the homeroom teacher for 1-A for the next year.
"Seventeen students who did nothing but tremble: 0 points."
Eve, standing in front of the teacher's desk, scanned the students still dazed and huddled at the back of the classroom.
"Ten students who shouted to evacuate, noticed the barrier, and tried to defend themselves with their abilities: 50 points."
Then, she slowly turned her gaze to where the protagonist and heroine were standing, looking intently at Sylvia.
"An attack that could have dealt effective damage to the monster: 80 points, but your response to the unexpected situation was a mess, so I'll deduct points. 60 points."
Eve, passing by the frustrated Sylvia, looked at Yun Siwoo with interest.
Their eyes met for a moment.
She smiled.
Huh? Why?
"Honestly, I didn't expect it, but two excellent students immediately recognized the illusion. These two get 200 points!"
Everyone applauded.
I didn't do anything, so why 200 points?
Is this some kind of hidden camera show?
Eve continued, looking around the entire class.
"The average is 32 points, but everyone should aim for an average of 80 points. If you don't, you'll die."
She said it as if it were nothing, but in reality, by the end of the story, only a handful of students in this class survived.
Even the homeroom teacher, Eve, couldn't escape death.
...Can I, a human bomb, survive in this crazy world?
"I hope everyone can survive until next year. Welcome to Aegis Academy!"
With Eve's cheerful voice and smile, I said goodbye.
Goodbye, my beautiful school life.
Author's Note
I was surprised to see my novel's cover on the first page of NovelPia after staying up all night writing and then waking up.
My writing speed is slow, so even though I only wrote after waking up, I can't keep up with daily updates......
I'm writing with renewed energy, reading the comments.
Thank you all for reading my imperfect novel.
