"Really?" Xi Lei was startled and hurriedly asked, "How big is the fish, brother? What kind?"
Xu Jianxing glanced at the water nonchalantly. With his keen eyesight, he could easily see the fish underwater. He said urgently, "It's a carp, and it looks to be at least sixty pounds. If you're here, come quickly. I'm under the small forest on the south side of East Lake. There's no one around at this time, and I'm afraid something might happen, so I'll hang up now."
"Alright, alright, little brother, you must hold on. I'll be there in ten minutes at most," Xi Lei's eyes widened when he heard about the sixty-pound carp, but he didn't have time to get excited and quickly replied.
"Okay, I'll hang up." Xu Jianxing pretended to be in a hurry and hung up the phone, then chuckled as he leisurely teased the fish in the water.
After about five minutes,
Xu Jianxing finally pulled the fish out of the water. The large carp, slightly oxygen-deprived, began to struggle. Although the force wasn't great, it caused ripples and small whirlpools on the water's surface, as if some water monster had appeared.
Even though it was noon and there were few people at East Lake Park, some people were still around. They soon noticed the unusual activity on the lake and rushed over, shouting and calling out.
When these few people arrived, Xi Lei also brought several people with him. Seeing the huge carp on the water's surface, his eyes bulged. He immediately instructed his people to bring large nets or other fishing tools and came to Xu Jianxing's side, saying, "Brother, you're amazing, really amazing. It seems you're a real fishing expert."
Once might be luck, twice could also be explained as luck, but in just one day, Xu Jianxing had caught another super large fish. This couldn't be just luck; it was a sign of skill. Otherwise, it would be too incredible to be just luck.
"Alright, alright," Xu Jianxing nodded repeatedly but didn't take his eyes off the fish in the water, showing that he was fully focused on dealing with it.
As the thick fishing line grew shorter, the fish got closer to the shore. When it was close enough, everyone worked together to pull the huge carp onto the shore.
As soon as it reached the shore, Xi Lei said urgently, "Brother, no need for small talk. I definitely want the fish. Can you put it in the fish truck first?"
The fish truck was something Xi Lei had called over. It was filled with water to keep the fish alive, even for just a day. This would be a living advertisement for his restaurant, and he believed that even many journalists would come to report on it, saving him a lot of advertising costs.
Xu Jianxing understood this and said with a smile, "Sure, no problem."
Soon, the large carp was placed in the fish truck.
At this moment, Xi Lei, suppressing his excitement, came to Xu Jianxing's side and said straightforwardly, "Brother, this fish weighs eighty-two pounds. I'll give you fifteen thousand yuan. What do you think?"
Hearing this price, Xu Jianxing smiled faintly but didn't speak. The price was high, but he knew it hadn't reached Xi Lei's bottom line. Moreover, in Xu Jianxing's understanding, this living carp could not only generate a lot of advertising effects but also attract the interest of many wealthy people who would be interested in eating it. After all, carp are often considered auspicious in folklore and can naturally attract some people's interest.
Of course, if the price was this, Xu Jianxing would naturally sell it. He was short of money, but he wouldn't deal with Xi Lei again in the future. He might as well use the fish for sacrifices, which could yield good things.
Although Xu Jianxing didn't speak, Xi Lei could see his thoughts and said, "Brother, what about twenty thousand?"
"Alright, twenty thousand." Xu Jianxing didn't waste any more words and agreed directly. He didn't want to wait for the journalists to take his picture and put it in the newspaper.
"Good, brother, you're straightforward." Xi Lei gave a thumbs up and then took out two stacks of hundred-yuan bills. Xu Jianxing took the money and left.
Xi Lei, however, was not in a hurry. He was waiting for the journalists to arrive and even glanced at Xu Jianxing's back. He believed that Xu Jianxing would guess that such an event would be reported in the newspapers and spread online. He couldn't think of any young person who didn't like fame.
Xu Jianxing, of course, didn't care what Xi Lei was thinking.
As soon as Xu Jianxing left the park, he got into a taxi and asked the driver to head to the seaside. He wasn't planning to go fishing but to find a secluded place to practice his boxing, as it was a way to increase his strength.
By around four in the afternoon,
Xu Jianxing returned home. He was somewhat tired, as after practicing his boxing, he had also used the fish he caught earlier for sacrifices, though nothing particularly good came of it.
After cooking, Xu Jianxing felt even more exhausted. He was afraid that Su Wan'er would see him and start guessing, so he ate some food and went back to his room to sleep.
About twenty minutes later,
Su Wan'er rushed back. As soon as she entered the house, she saw the food on the table and muttered, "This dead brother-in-law, even though he's not feeling well, he still got up to cook. But it's nice to come home and have a meal ready."
Looking around, Su Wan'er didn't see Xu Jianxing. She then went to his room and knocked lightly, "Brother-in-law, brother-in-law."
With his perception, Xu Jianxing naturally heard the noise and said, "I'm a bit tired, so I'll rest. I've already made the food for you."
"Okay, I know, brother-in-law, thank you," Su Wan'er said with a smile, not thinking much of it. It was normal for a sick person to sleep a lot, but she didn't know that Xu Jianxing was afraid of seeing her.
Just as Su Wan'er was about to leave, she seemed to remember something and said, "By the way, brother-in-law, my sister said she didn't treat you properly when you came. She feels a bit embarrassed and plans to take you out on a yacht for a couple of days this weekend. What do you think?"
"Sure," Xu Jianxing was naturally happy to go to the sea, as it was a good place for fishing and a chance to relax.
Thus, it was early Saturday morning at five o'clock.
In the past few days, Xu Jianxing had been jogging every morning and coincidentally kept running into Lu Qian. Although both knew the reason, they didn't say anything about it.
Additionally, Xu Jianxing had changed his fishing spot to a deserted beach. With money not being a major concern, he had sacrificed all the fish he caught. The results were very good; he not only obtained an experience pill but also a fine steel dagger. Although he couldn't determine its exact age, Xu Jianxing was sure it was a product of the game, as the speed of his movements increased when he wielded the dagger, indicating that it had additional attributes.
Xu Jianxing also took the experience pill, which boosted his cultivation to the level of a Sixth Star Warrior. With the additional attributes from the ring, he had the strength of a Seventh Star Warrior, equivalent to about seven times the physical strength of an ordinary person.
As for his cooking skills, they improved more slowly. After all, a person could only have three meals a day, and each meal could have at most four dishes and one soup. So, according to Xu Jianxing's estimation, it would take at least two more days to reach 200 proficiency points in the first stage. This was because he had been making more difficult dishes, which increased his proficiency.
At this moment, Xu Jianxing changed into casual clothes and walked out of his bedroom. As soon as Su Wan'er saw him, she said, "Brother-in-law, let's go down. The car my sister sent to pick me up should be here."
"Okay," Xu Jianxing nodded and asked as they walked, "By the way, did you prepare the fishing rods and everything?"
"Yes, fishing at sea is very pleasant, so of course, we prepared all the fishing gear. You can choose any type you want," Su Wan'er replied with a smile and then asked curiously, "Brother-in-law, how good are your fishing skills?"
"Pretty good, I'm particularly good at catching sharks," Xu Jianxing said seriously.
Su Wan'er looked at him with disdain, "Brother-in-law, I think you can't stop boasting. When we're on the boat, will you dare to compete with me?"
"Who's afraid of who? When the time comes, will you dare to bet with me?" Xu Jianxing challenged.
"What will we bet?"
"Of course, we'll bet on taking off our clothes, ha-ha," Xu Jianxing said with a playful smile.
"No problem," Su Wan'er's eyes flashed with a mischievous look, "Whoever doesn't bet, doesn't have a little thing."
"You little brat," Xu Jianxing rolled his eyes at her and didn't continue the joke.
Seeing that Xu Jianxing didn't accept the challenge, Su Wan'er felt a bit smug.
Soon, the two arrived at the entrance of the residential area.
At this moment, Su Wan'er pointed to a black Mercedes in the distance and said to Xu Jianxing, "Brother-in-law, over there."
"Okay," Xu Jianxing glanced over and saw a young man standing next to the Mercedes, about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. The young man was tall and straight, with a very short haircut, slightly dark skin, but his muscles showed the explosive power he possessed.
From the young man's demeanor, Xu Jianxing felt that he might have been a soldier, possibly even Lu Qian's bodyguard.
Sure enough, Su Wan'er then introduced him in a low voice, "Brother-in-law, that young man is one of my sister's three bodyguards. His name is Zhao Fan. I heard he used to be in a marine corps. There are also a man and a woman. The man is called Li Xingjun, who is from the same unit as Zhao Fan and was even his squad leader. From what I've observed, Li Xingjun seems to have a thing for my sister. The woman is called Feng Lina, who seems to have come from a special forces unit and is my sister's personal bodyguard."
"Oh," Xu Jianxing smiled slightly. Although he wasn't overly concerned about their strength, he always had a deep respect for soldiers. So, he took a few steps forward and said, "Hello, I'm Xu Jianxing."
The young man's face was serious as he nodded and gestured, "Zhao Fan, please get in the car, both of you."
Xu Jianxing smiled again and then followed Su Wan'er to sit in the back of the car.
