"Miss Mimosa! The wedding dress is ready, could you try it on for a bit?"
It was a sudden proposal from the lady, who was busy preparing for the wedding, on a certain afternoon.
As for me, I was struggling to memorize the names of the guests and the noble directory for the ceremony and reception, but when I was suddenly asked about the wedding dress, I realized that marriage was not just a social event but a significant matter for me.
The wedding dress... I had already been measured when we bought the dress, and I had left everything up to them, so I was nervous about what it would look like.
"Yes!"
When I answered the lady, two maids who were outside the room brought in a large box, as well as boxes for shoes and accessories. It seemed that everything was ready.
I had no confidence in my fashion sense, so I had no problem leaving it to the lady, and I was purely looking forward to the dress being taken out of the box.
What came out was a pristine princess-line wedding dress. It had puffed sleeves that softly bulged at the shoulders. Since the ceremony was in the fall, it had long sleeves, but they were beautifully made all the way to the cuffs. The neckline was open, probably to highlight jewelry, but there was nothing vulgar about it.
However, I felt a bit puzzled. The fabric and sewing were solid, but there was no decoration at all. It was just a plain white dress, and I thought that if I, who am rather plain, wore it, it would really be a plain wedding dress.
"Hehehe... This was made with the money that Viscount Norton had been saving for two of his daughters' wedding dresses, just for you, Mimosa. The design is mine, and... Mimosa, let's do some embroidery on it."
First, I was surprised that my father had been saving money for my wedding dress. As for the Casablanca part... I think it might have been half of the money he spent, and he even let me keep the dress and jewelry. I think it was out of his affection for me.
Thinking about how he had worked tirelessly from morning till night, without a day off, and had still fulfilled the family's wishes and saved money, my eyes welled up.
The jewelry and shoes were provided by the earl's family, and they were delicate and intricate, not heavy.
I was going to put my needle into this standard dress... I wondered what kind of design would be good, but I realized that I had never done embroidery based on my own imagination.
I had never been so conscious of myself as I was now, and I still didn't know what kind of person I was.
But embroidery... it was the only thing I could give as a gift. If I was ashamed to embroider my own dress, I couldn't give it as a gift.
"I... I'll give it a try. Since there's no time, I'll start right away."
"Please show me as soon as it's done. Oh, and Percy can't see the dress until the day of the ceremony, so I'll make the room off-limits. Please take your time."
"Yes!"
After seeing off the lady and the maids with a playful smile and a wink, I opened my sewing box. I tried various embroidery threads, but I felt it would be a waste to embroider the wedding dress with bright colors.
After much deliberation, I decided to start by buying thread with a maid.
