Chapter 36

Even after becoming Mimosia Chaltry, we couldn’t just shift the royal events because we were officially married, so Percival and I quickly returned to our daily lives.

It seems that in about a month, there will be a mock battle for the Royal Guard Knights. Generally, the knights prioritize teamwork, but aside from that, there are also biannual mock battles, which are more like martial arts tournaments, to determine each individual’s strength.

Thanks to this, Percival has been diligently practicing to make up for the time he took off, coming home late and going to bed immediately after dinner.

I don’t want to bother him when he’s so tired, so I’ve been delaying my dinner time to match his, and we just have a brief conversation where I tell him not to overexert himself.

“Still, I wonder if it’s because he’s a man… or a knight. I don’t think he needs to work so hard…”

“Oh…, did you not know, Lady Mimosia?”

Lucia, the maid who was helping me get ready for bed, looked surprised and asked.

I had no idea what she was talking about, so I asked, “What?”

She seemed to be hesitating about whether to tell me.

“Since you’ve said that much, please tell me?”

“What I’m about to say, please keep it a secret. — The winner of the Royal Guard Knights’ mock battle tournament gets to borrow any of the royal family’s vacation homes for a month as a prize.”

“Eh… Could it be for that reason…?”

“About that…, Lady Mimosia? That’s a forbidden word in front of Sir Percival.”

I nodded, but in my mind, it was just “that.” I don’t want him to underestimate a recluse. Well, I’m not really a recluse anymore.

I received a letter from the Queen inviting my mother-in-law and me to a tea party. Now, I’m embroidering a handkerchief inspired by Alex Cheryl’s book, "The Queen in Crystal Shoes," as a gift for the Queen.

It’s my first invitation, and my mother-in-law agreed to it, so I’m trying my best not to make any mistakes at the tea party. The Queen is used to high-quality items, so I’m planning to bring a unique gift.

There’s not much time until the tea party, and I’ll support Percival on another day. I’ll definitely go to support him and sew a charm for him.

However, the prize is so luxurious… I guess it is? I’ve never been on a trip, so I don’t know what it’s like… What exactly will be given as a prize?

I’ll ask Percival on the day he wins. I just want to support him.

I don’t think it’s okay for him to lose. I don’t want such a hardworking Percival to lose.

That’s one thing, and another is that I’ve already made my debut in society, so I need to try my best not to make any mistakes at the Queen’s tea party.

Before we got married, Percival said he would use his sword, and I would use my needle. I want to do my best so that he can accept my embroidery. It’s almost finished.

But, what kind of person is the Queen? I don’t know much about her… It’s a good thing my mother-in-law is Alex Cheryl.

I want to give her a gift that she’ll like.
