When Qiao Yang said he would move, he really moved.
After breakfast, he looked for a few sets of clothes and toiletries in the original owner’s room then casually stuffed them in a suitcase, pulled it along as he left the villa.
The five brand-new luxurious cars were lined up in the parking lot looking like shiny ’darlings’, sultry and haughty plates that were waiting to be turnover and chosen.[1]
Qiao Yang was considering the luggage in his hand and his future life convenience, then He picked out one of the most practical pitch-black car, Maybachs[2].
After sitting in the car, he turned on the engine but he didn’t know where he should drive to.
That residence was casually bought by the original owner for fun, but had never stayed there even once. Now he couldn’t even remember the exact address.
Qiao Yang was distressed for a while, but suddenly thought that the original owner had an personal assistant named Liu Wen, who had always been responsible for the original owner’s work and daily activities.
He dialed Liu Wen’s phone number.
Liu Wen’s voice was thick with sleepiness, it seemed like he was sleeping, “You are moving? Move into the Century Residence? Didn’t you say you were going to sell that residence?”
Qiao Yang, “Not selling, I’ll stay in there tonight. You send me the address.”
Liu Wen was confused and hesitant as he said, “But, your home now only has a set of sofa and dining chairs. How can you live there when you don’t even have a bed?”
Qiao Yang laughed then righteously[3] and rhetorically asked, “Otherwise, why would I call you?”
“…… Yes, I’ll go purchase one for you right away.”
Liu Wen hung up the phone and wailed in anguish, “Such a beautiful and good weekend is gone!”
Century Residence was a famous high-end neighborhood in S city, inhabited by either political and business figures, or celebrity and actors. Therefore, the property management paid great attention to the privacy and security of the property owners.
In order to enter, an entry card was needed to swipe at the district’s gate. Next, to enter the building, a face scan was needed, and on top of that, swipe the card again before they could activate the elevator.
Qiao Yang followed the instructions, took the resident card and slowly swiped it all the way down. At last, he finally managed to get to his own floor. However, he was confused when he got out of the elevator.
In the dignified, bright and luxurious hallway, there were two identical front doors, one on his left and one on his right.
So, which one was his house?
Qiao Yang dialed Liu Wen’s phone again.
Liu Wen, who was already outside running around buying him household items and furniture, received the call and replied, “The one on the east side is your residence.”
“East side?”
Qiao Yang looked around the enclosed environment surrounded by and asked, “Which is east?”
Liu Wen “It’s the door on the left.”
Left?
Qiao Yang went over to the one on his left hand side.
There was a keypad on the door, the pass code was the original owner’s birthday. Because he was unfamiliar with its function, he slowly and carefully input the digits one by one.
The 9-digit number was just entered, and ‘OK’ had not yet been pressed when there was a sudden sound of the door being opened from the inside, and a man came out.
The man was dressed in a suit and stood perfectly straight and proper, looking at him with a bemused expression.
“Huh?”
How come there is someone inside?!
Qiao Yang was dumbfounded and instinctively took a step back. When he got a clear look at the person, he exclaimed in surprise.
“Gu… President Gu?”
“Is something the matter?”
Gu Ye smiled, his line of sight glossed over Qiao Yang’s shoulder and pointed at the door across him with his chin, “Young Master Qiao mistakenly opened the wrong door, right?”
Qiao Yang turned his head to look at the door of the opposite residence, and only then did it dawn on him, “Oh I’m sorry. It’s my first time coming to this house and I identified the wrong door.”
Then he laughed awkwardly, “What a coincidence ah, President Gu also lives here. We’ll be neighbors from now on.”
He actually lives in the opposite residence as Gu Ye!
To lose face like this as soon as he got here. If it wasn’t because they already knew each other beforehand, he would have looked like a suspicious person.
He smiled to conceal his embarrassment while inputting the code on another door.
Pīlipālā[4]. After inputting the number, a cold, emotionless, ripple-free electronic voice sounded.
—Beep Beep, Incorrect password!
Ah?
Qiao Yang panicked in his heart.
He scratched his hair, he thought that he was too anxious to enter the wrong password, and pressed it again carefully.
—Beep Beep, Incorrect password!
Ha?!
How could that be?
He turned his head to look at Gu Ye who appeared to look at him with a bored smile on his face. But hidden within the depth of his eyes seemed to hide some suspicions, like a righteous citizen who wanted to maintain public order at any time.
Qiao Yang’s face heated up from embarrassment, he forced a smile and explained innocently, “This is really my house.”
He held up the head-of-household card in his hand and explained, “Otherwise, I won’t even be able to get on the elevator.”
Gu Ye, “Young Master Qiao, it couldn’t be that you can’t even remember the password to your own house, right?”
“It’s okay, I’ll try it one more time.”
