Chapter 37

Vin Diesel exposed him, "This guy is so proud, do you know what kind of contract he signed with DreamWorks?"

"What kind of contract?" Charlize asked with great interest.

Kate was also curious, "Wasn't it a director's contract?"

"Kate, you don't even know, Christmas didn't tell you... Oh, God, I drank too much." Seeing Chen Tian's glare, Vin Diesel realized he had let the cat out of the bag and quickly changed the subject.

But it was too late. Kate became even more curious and turned to stare at Chen Tian, "Are you hiding something from me?"

Chen Tian smiled bitterly, "Not really, just a lot more clauses in the contract." Not many people knew about this yet, but once the movie was released, it would be impossible to hide. People like Vin Diesel, who were part of the crew, could easily find out. He just didn't want to make a big deal out of it.

Then... Kate and Charlize both learned about the almost childish contract and were a bit stunned.

"A horror movie, betting on a $280 million future, it takes a lot of confidence to make such a decision. Or, maybe it's just arrogance!"

Chen Tian held Kate's hand and said, "Trust me, I won't let your salary go to waste."

Kate blushed at his bold hand-holding. Although everyone could see what was going on between them, she did have a boyfriend. But she didn't pull her hand away, "Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I came to you, so of course I trust you."

Chen Tian was touched.

Suddenly, his phone rang. It was an unknown number. Chen Tian answered, "Hello, this is Christmas Chen..."

"Boss, big brother, dear brother, it's Kong Yiji! I'm in Los Angeles, hahaha, come pick me up and prepare some beauties to welcome me."

"(#?′) Damn, why are you just coming now?"

...

Of course, he couldn't go to pick him up. Chen Tian was too busy and could only have Kong Yiji fly to Philadelphia. So, the number of people to drink with increased by one.

Kong Yiji, who hadn't seen Chen Tian for half a year, was envious to death when he saw a beautiful British woman by his side. He boasted that he would find a big blonde beauty to bring back and bring glory to his family.

His abilities were still lacking, and he couldn't help much for now, so Chen Tian could only have him learn from the production team. Although he had many flaws, at least he was one of his own. If someone argued with Chen Tian, he would stand by Chen Tian without hesitation.

Just this one point made ten Katzenbergs not worth one Kong Yiji.

Whether it was because he had convinced Katzenberg or because of Kong Yiji's arrival, Chen Tian felt an inexplicable pressure lifted from his shoulders, and his work became much easier. He was still busy every day, but he had a brother to joke around with.

"Old Chen, there's a mistake, go back, right, right, just this part. The corner of the light shield is showing." Kong Yiji's position in the crew was assistant director. Although he was unreliable, he was the director's compatriot, so everyone gave him face, and he got along well in the crew.

He was the only one who would sit behind the director's monitor, and his jokes actually helped a lot.

Chen Tian looked closely and indeed saw it. This scene showed Dr. Malcolm thinking that his long absence had led to his wife's infidelity, so he decided to give up treating Cole and spend more time with his family. When explaining this to Cole and saying goodbye, Chen Tian delivered his first crying scene.

The performances of the two main actors were so outstanding that the corner of the light shield went unnoticed.

"Good job, Old Kong, your keen eyes can be upgraded." Chen Tian patted his shoulder hard. He had recently discovered a classic game on his phone, and phrases like "skill upgrade" were often on his lips.

Kong Yiji grinned, "Gently, do you think I'm Fan Dazhuang? Hehe, my keen eyes are now level 2."

As the movie's timeline entered mid-December, Christmas was approaching, and "The Sixth Sense" was more than halfway through filming.

All the actors were no longer worried about understanding the plot, and the characters were well-established. Chen Tian began to shoot scenes separately.

The scenes in Dr. Malcolm's apartment, the basement study, the church, and the school were shot by location, and the crew's efficiency improved significantly.

Katzenberg also breathed a sigh of relief; Chen Tian's style wasn't as strange as he had feared.

As a result, Charlize's scenes progressed much faster. She became the first supporting actress to wrap up her part. That night, Chen Tian treated the entire crew to a party at a bar, and they drank beer all night.

Treating people to a meal is a common way for Chinese people to get closer.

It worked well on Americans too, at least making future work more familiar.

When it was time to leave, the beautiful Charlize Theron gave Chen Tian a kiss in front of Kate, making him blush for a long time. He felt a bit guilty and glanced at Kate, who was quite pleased.

The world doesn't stop turning because of anyone's departure.

After the second female lead, Charlize, finished her scenes, her agent had already secured her a new audition. With her career on the rise, she clearly didn't have much attachment to this crew.

Charlize's departure didn't affect Chen Tian much. The ones who were probably feeling down were Vin Diesel and Kong Yiji. The former seemed to have a thing for Charlize, but she clearly wasn't interested. The latter was clearly disappointed because the crew had lost a beautiful and sexy "attraction," and the other one was already taken.

Without Charlize, the beautiful and sexy "attraction" in the crew, the shooting speed was noticeably slower than when she was there. However, after several days of intense shooting, Chen Tian got the film back on track.

With only a few days left until Christmas, everyone clearly didn't want to work during the holiday. Chen Tian was very understanding and announced a week-long break after shooting the last scene of the day.

Everyone was delighted, cheering and wishing each other a "Merry Christmas" before leaving the set.

...

Chinese directors are a minority in Hollywood. Director Ang Lee is a good person, humble and kind, with a gentle face, which is a common trait among most Chinese people.

And the director known as the "Master of Violent Aesthetics," John Woo, also has a legend as a Hollywood Santa Claus. He recently won the Golden Ring Award from the National Asian American Arts Foundation for his film "Face/Off" and is rumored to be directing "Mission: Impossible 2," making him one of the most successful Chinese directors in Hollywood.

The origin of the "Santa Claus" title is that he sends out tens of thousands of Christmas cards every year. Even a newspaper reporter or an employee of an organization, if they had given John Woo their business card, even if they had only met once, would receive a personally signed Christmas card from Hollywood the following year.

This "one card per person" story of the Hollywood Santa Claus has become a legend in the media.

John Woo said he is a very loyal person. If he had been born in a revolutionary era, he might have been one of the Six Gentlemen of the Hundred Days' Reform, as he hopes to help people and would be willing to fight for the country and the people like those revolutionary warriors. Additionally, he is a movie worker who is always learning.

As for Chen Tian, no one knew him.

Taking advantage of the holiday, he took Kate to see a movie.

"Why this movie? I heard it had a huge budget but didn't do well at the box office?" Kate was a bit puzzled.

"That's just temporary. There's a saying in China, 'Good wine doesn't fear a deep alley.' Gold will always shine. It might not take long for this movie to sweep across America, the world, and set a jaw-dropping record."

Kate was surprised, "You really like this movie."

Chen Tian shrugged, "I'm just guessing. After all, it has good word of mouth, right?"

The movie they watched was "Titanic," which took years and a huge budget to create. However, the initial market response was not as expected, but fortunately, the word of mouth was starting to spread.

Chen Tian had heard of this movie's fame before, but this was his first time watching the full film. When they left the cinema, the melody of "My Heart Will Go On" still echoed in their minds.

"Really a great movie, I want to watch it again," Kate said, still not satisfied.

Chen Tian shook his head and smiled, "Do you know what I want to do?"

"What?"

"Go home as fast as possible and lock the door, hahaha."
